Okay, why did they interpolate songs from Rodgers & Hart's OTHER Ancient Greek musical, "By Jupiter?" What, the score of "Boys" didn't have enough memorable songs already?

by any chance could you possibly post videos of the actual musical numbers? my high school is doing this show and i would love to see these actors and their take on the songs and characters.

Take a look at the Stratford, ONT version of "Boys," available here on UA-cam, which includes the actual musical numbers. Even in a high school production, the actor-singer-dancers need, with the help of the director, choreographer and musical director, to discover their own interpretations of the songs, rather than attempting to imitate professionals. Kaye Ballard, Donna McKechnie and opera singer Roberta Peters can also be found here performing "Sing For Your Supper!"
The George Abbott book from the original 1938 production still works perfectly well, and at all costs one should avoid the book from the Broadway "revisal," which cut dances and reassigned songs to characters other than those the authors intended, with the result that it received lousy reviews, audiences stayed away in droves and it lost money. A few months ago I saw an Off-Off Broadway revival in a limited engagement which stuck to the original and audiences loved it, though with one exception the cast was entirely male, but playing female roles as females, not as parodies of femininity. Adriana, the deserted wife of Antipholus of Ephesus, was particularly affecting.

Write your own show if you're not happy with The Boys From Syracuse. Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart and George Abbott were masters of musical theatre and their work requires none of your revisions and edits.

Absolutely correct! Art is sacred...and always, the artist's wishes must be respected. Art does not need to be "updated."
