To open a wire gate : Put your arm through the gate between the first and second wire . Put your hand on the standing post, pull gate towards post using your shoulder to draw the gate , to post . Slip top loop off standing post . Keep gate erect using both hands , pull gate aside . Pass through and close in the same manner . Just a suggestion, that's worked for me for 50+ years and if a 8 yr . Old girl can manage this , I'm sure just about anyone can . Some gates are tough , some too easy , but once you get the knack of this , it sure makes dealing with wire gates , not so awkward or time consuming. Great content and another great job! Alex, Fascinating video. My wife and I recently bought some land near Williams where we will be building our future home. We have found hundreds of Pottery shards and several arrow heads. I wonder if they were Sinagua as the pottery looks very similar to the ones you found in this video. At first I started picking up and keeping the shards and then realized that maybe they should remain where they were left. I feel a spiritual connection to the Ancient Ones when I'm on my land. Sitting at night by the campfire with my wife and our dog I look up at the heavens and think ...they experienced the exact same view a thousand years ago. Thanks for the beautiful and delightful trecking adventure. I will treat the earth that I have been blessed to have with reverence to the ones who were here before. We're all only caretakers for a while. The earth remains........ only slightly altered by our presence.

My understanding is that the Havasupai Indians and the Hualapai Indians are two Native American tribes deeply embedded in the history and current culture of the Grand Canyon. I have taken the scenic railroad trip along the Verde River and have seen the cavate dwellings as we traveled along, many with the walls you described still intact. What a wonderful, leisurely trip it was and your video then takes us right into the dwellings... a great experience for us all.

I have great respect for your philosophy on leaving artifacts , but I have to wonder (because I myself am an avid Hunter and collector of things from antiquity) have you ever happened upon something so undeniably significant that you couldn't leave it behind? I remember once I was trekking in the White Sands - New Mexico area and came upon a long abandoned line shack from the old cowboy days. Along one of the walls was some sort of cardboard covering over the inside frame to keep out the wind. Back then they did not use insulation and would stuff old cloth and newspapers behind the cardboard. Anyway, part of the cardboard had been ripped and I looked behind the cardboard and saw a bunch of clothing and an old newspaper. When I opened the folded newspaper it was the El Paso Times dated 1928 and the headline read "Amelia Earhart Lands In El Paso". There were also several old style jeans there which turned out be be valuable collector items...............................alex

The public library in Phoenix ,down town main branch they have topo maps of all Arizona that one can copy.Just thought I would let yall know about that.
Sugarloaf is really littered with pottery shards and has some broken down structures, but interestingly no signage or efforts to educate people who regularly hike there.

Hariao, my sensing is that the actual room/structure at 27:00, which was connected to other structures, was a living space rather than a room used by Puebloans for religious rituals and political meetings. However, this is only a guess/sensing I had when taking into account the totality of the site. But that begs the question as to where was their religious site located? Unfortunately, my trek was to short to determine this........alex
East and West Bank 😆 You have That backwards. Look at your map again. I lived about 5 miles from that spot. You drove in on arizona ave. Also called AA road. You had to drive through verde lakes to get to arizona ave. Trust me on the east and west .

Its a hard one to find and most people don't know about it. A very good friend of mine was the river guide for that river. Its worth going to and I would love to see a video of how it is holding up. 10 years ago you could still fi d their hand prints in the building on the walls.

It seems some graffiti isn’t too bad. Respectfully placed letters and numbers here and there will be part of the history a few thousand years from now. Of course nothing vulgar and not too much just enough to add to the story, future archeologists might find it informative.
