Its a fast paced mess now. Some concepts I think are interesting. - The overdrives (Basically ultimate abilities) attached to each hull are annoying to fight against, but the core idea of hull specific abilities have potential. - augmentations. Which basically change the way existing weapons behave (Shafts being able to heal teammates and Thunders dealing more damage with splash damage but less with direct hits to name some examples) - Supplies are now much easier to get. And you’re expected to use them. Removing the necessity for a gentlemen’s agreement (which died a long time ago) - Paint and protections are no longer linked But there’s also a lot of negatives. - The general faster pace of the game. While obviously being personal preference: I find the quicker pace not working as well with the existing maps. And it leaves less potential for interesting plays - The big one: Pay2Win. Its not as bad in the early ranks (if you’re using supplies). But once people start equipping augments (which you don’t have) you’re completely outmatched. The dogshit matchmaking makes this even worse (I regularly faced opponents the game estimated to be 4x stronger than me) - progression is lootbox based. - Lobby’s were removed and replaced by matchmaking. This matchmaking is dogshit (as previously mentioned). - A couple new weapons/hulls were added. But they’re either pathetically weak or super OP. Weapons also don’t look different with upgrades. M0 and M3 look the same. I can go on, but those are the most important things. The biggest tragedy is how irrelevant skill has become due to the pay2win elements. The game is truly declining now. Not just in quality but player numbers too. There is a project called protanki which revived the 2014 version of the game. Its worth checking out, even if only for the nostalgia.
