CASE UPDATE: Good news! Thanks to all of your calls, views, and action, we have finally heard from the Midland Police department. They have assigned a new detective on the case and will have it moved up on their priority list and start the investigation from scratch! Rachael and Emily are so grateful for all of your kind words. Please follow Rachael on Twitter @rachaelden for updates!
    Note from Caitlin’s sister:
hi everyone! i’m rachael caitlins sister. i’ve seen some confusion about her height and i just wanted to clarify she’s 5’4 :) thank you all for the positive comments and for all of your help. emily and i can’t thank you enough!! i know we will bring her home. you all have filled my heart more than you will ever know. it’s been a blessing having kendall, her team and all of you behind us during this frustrating/ difficult time. i know some of you have questions about my parents. my mother is not in our lives and my dad is a private person. he is helping as much as he can, he just doesn’t want to be a public face which emily and i completely respect! thank you all again for the love and support. ❤

  • @merleawe_

This seriously sounds like a case of human trafficking. The fact that she left and didn't tell anyone, the fact that she left the state with this man, the fact she wouldn't name this man, that she said she was scared for her life, the attempted sexual assaults, and the fact he claimed she had 'just left' in the middle of the night.... and then later himself went missing, is extremely suspect. Because of the area she was in when she went missing, it's very possible that the police waved it off as human trafficking and just threw up their hands; as such cases are extremely difficult to solve. I really recommend that they reach out to investigators that specialize in human trafficking and missing persons cases. At this point the police are a hindrance to the investigation and appear to have made it clear that they won't help; so its better to reach out and find someone who could take over the case instead.

that was my thought exactly. people think human trafficking is just being snatched from a parking lot randomly, but often times people are brought into human trafficking through friends/boyfriends/partners. perhaps the Midland guy may have been grooming her over the course of the 6 months and then when she went out to visit she got roped into it?

It isn't about the police thinking she doesn't matter. This is what happens when police departments get defunded. They don't have enough funding to investigate every single case thoroughly. And it's only going to get worse and worse the more police departments get defunded. The policesre forced to make decisions about which cases they put money into unfortunately. So people who live high-risk lifestyles don't get the resources they deserve to get because the police had to make a decision. They've had to cut back on the amount of resources they have as well so not every single case can get the amount of money (and it cost a lot of money to thoroughly investigate a case, a lot of man hours, a lot of evidence collecting there's just a lot of money that goes in towards truly investigating a case). Who are they going to put the limited money and resources they having to finding? Someone who is knowingly living a high-risk and self-destructive lifestyle? Or someone who did everything right and still ended up in a file on a police desk? It sucks but that's the truth that no one wants to talk about. You (not you specifically a general you) can't demand the police put hundreds of thousands of dollars into every single case and then also demand they get defunded. That's not how things work. The police need more funding not less funding if you want these cases to get the attention and money put into them that they deserve. And it isn't going to get any better until people wake up and realize that demanding police departments get defunded is only hurting marginalized people.

    • @morganrenee5537
      @morganrenee5537 2 роки тому +1

@@WhitneyDahlin I absolutely agree. Police need to have the proper funding for cases such as this. Defunding our police isn’t doing anyone any bit of good. If said people don’t want to put money into the police for this then we need to make a department to cover these cases and fund that. As every single life should matter. Regardless of what makes each of us different.
As for the defunding subject, this is one of those instances where if they want to take jobs away from our police by defunding them. They need to put another department in place to cover those jobs. Yet all we care about is just defunding them so missing persons, murders, and whatever else has to be a pick and choose kind of situation which is absolutely devastating for so many.

What needs to happen is making the individual cops known publicly and if possible, get a bunch of people blocking and surrounding the police station. If cops can't get in to do their paper work or investigate "worthy" people than they'll be forced to capitulate to the Caitlyn's case.

I experience the exact same thing as a male. If I ever have to attend the Dr's as soon as its known I struggle with a 14yr heroin addiction, I am instantly written off and looked down on.
I have been medicated and treated for mental health issues since I was around 6yo and due to childhood trauma have found myself self-medicating yet psychologists and Dr's instead try and put everything I suffer onto my substance use, not actually address the core reason I feel the need to numb my life and feelings in order to survive.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON matters and treated the same. Everyone's voice and opinion should be heard and feel validated 😔
I've never been arrested, never committed a crime, steal from anyone/anywhere... Hell I don't even know another addict apart from my supply who I've used for over a decade and drops off to me everyday. Just like sex workers, we aren't all the same! But we do all have a voice and a valid story as to how and why we are in the situations we are. Be it out of choice or not! And let me tell you, there aren't many people who actively choose to end up in these situations out of free will.

I just wanted to give a little back story. This last summer I was leaving the river around 11pm I was with 2 girls I had meet earlier that day. Once I got to the car a man grabbed me from behind I had to fight for my life somehow I was able to get away. I remember running through the woods through a mile of blackberry bushes, I could hear men following behind me speaking Spanish and talking about which way I was going (don't speak Spanish I'm guessing). I was able to make it to the road and ran in front of a car who drove me to the hospital. The hospital had me shower right away treated me horrible and the police didn't do a damn thing. All because of my past. Sorry just wanted to share with someone....

Regardless of whatever her profession was, she is still a person. I can't believe that no one will help this poor family who are looking so hard for her. My prayers go out to Caitlin and her family and friends. 🙏🙏🙏

The amount of strength that her sister has for speaking about her sister's death/disappearance is inspiring. I can't imagine how hard it must be to continue to be strong after losing your sister/best friend. Stripper or not, doesn't mean that her life isn't worth it. She deserves to be found.

    I’m from Texas.
I’m so disappointed to hear the lack of police interest.
This girl’s profession should not determine if she’s “worth” being investigated.
I agree familial interest helps keep police engaged. I’m praying for answers. Good or bad 💕🥰

Prayers to the family. The fact that this guy was a truck driver could be a trafficking type situation. Its scary to think about and I hope that is not the case.

This story hits home literally. I live in Reno. The community was so shaken by Brianna Denison and now to hear that Caitlin has gone missing and is her cousin is so devastating. I am so sorry to hear about Caitlin and my heart goes out to Rachel and Emily. I am sorry that Midland TX is not hitting this case hard...I will send the letter asking to put attention on this case!!!!!

I hope Caitlin’s sister and friend can get some answers. These two young women are amazing. How terrible to be in the dark on what the police are doing (which sounds like not much 😢). Prayers for strength to these two. Thank you for covering this Kendall💛

Maybe net detectives will get on the case after this boost in exposure. They deserve answers.

Everybody don’t forget to check the description box for details on how to reach out to the Midland County sheriff’s department! You can either call or email them. Let’s bring as much awareness to this case as we can. It’s the least we can do as a fellow human to try and get answers for Caitlin’s family and hopefully try and bring her home 🙏🏻🖤

I appreciate that you covered a case involving a woman who was in the adult entertainment industry. Sex workers are people and should be treated with respect. Thank you!
I'll share, when my father found out that I was a cam model and dancer, he told me that if I got assaulted, I would deserve it.
I hope she is found hopefully alive and mostly well.

Your father said that?! What the fuck?! That's just disgusting, especially coming from the one man who is expected to be in your corner.
