Als Sohn eines italienischen Müllers konnte er im Grunde den französischen Stil in der Barockmusik entwickeln und Standards setzen.... ....und dies, weil - so die Legende - eine französische Adelige sich einen hübschen Italiener gewünscht hatte, der ihr Italienisch beibringen sollte...
