These card bases turned out really nice. I like all of them. I've never been brave enough to try anything like this, but I'm inspired seeing how amazing your cards look. Thanks for sharing this set of stencils with us. Your tips are always helpful!
I think a lot of us are searching to make a "perfect" card each time we sit down. I have found that by taking time to play, I sometimes surprise myself (not always positively, but often! lol!) thanks so much for watching!
Too funny! I thought the same thing when I saw that stencil set come out! Like ...what in the world and why in the world would I need that or use it! I believe you've provided me with the answer!
Ardyth, your haircut is so cute!! I cut out my own reusable stencils in some basic and geometry shapes. I couldn't justify spending money on something I could easily make. These cards and colors are so vibrant and pretty! Thank you for sharing!
Wow your cards came out beautifully…..stencils are my favorite….especially the stencil sets that have coordinating stamps or embossing folders … the stencils help you look like a professional colorist….
Ideas #3 and #5 are my favorite. The sad part of 5 is that so much gets lost with the crop. You said you didn't like the edges, but I did. 😊💛 All of them strike me as retro or mid-century modern. I wonder how these would look with colors like mustard, avocado, orange, and brown. My favorite card is the flowers.
The nice part of 5 is that you could cut it down any way you want - even a 4 for 1! lol! I defintely like the look of mid-century modern and those colours would definitely emphasize the look! Thanks for watching, Melissa!
You shine bright as a star at this because you know your inks! I have no idea what the colors I have are going to look like. You know what goes with what, how to mix, etc. idk what I even have yet. Great job! I love to see you with ink!
@@ardyth that’s exactly my point. While you have combos you’ve used forever, I’ve never tried any! I just used the color wheel the first time ever for the kids’ wedding shower !but I am thriving to use things I ever have before everytime Make a card now.
I love how your mind works to create other uses for our tools. I didn't really care for the stencil until you startied showing so many options. Awesome creativity!
First, really cute hair Ardyth! Second, your cards are amazing! And third, could you please send some sunshine out west? Our gloomy, cool weather is really getting annoying. ☁️🌧️🫤 Alberta is calling for some warm weather! 😆
Love your new haircut!! I number mine also. Watching your videos has gotten me excited about using geometric stencils! Thanks for sharing! Deb - wickedkool!
Wow what a tremendous display of designer cards. I love your videos because they are concise, original designs and always with an imagination. Thank you❤
A while ago I got a card making magazine that came with a bunch of goodies. A sentiment die, ten sentiment clear stamps, an embossing card, two stencils to be used on their own and two that when used together made two beautiful peonies. This is the first time that I did a layer stencil and was very proud of how it turned out. I had watched a YT video earlier this morning that they demostrated doing it and they used two colors instead of one. So that is what I did and it turned out great. I also used the two other background stencils. Then as I had a goal of having evrything ready to go to make some cards from this set, I put all my stamps on a 5x7 card blank and used my stamper that allowed me to reink and add more color. I did one set in the pink to match the flowers, another set in green to match the leaves and a set in black for who knows what. This set also came with matching papers in the magazine. Nut so far I have used everything in the kit, except for the paper. Needed a break (super hot today) and sat down and watched you using these stencils. I don't always come up with ideas, but can springboard off of them, so thank you for this interesting video.😅
I love that ingenious second card from the flower card! How darn cute to hang that circle die off the strip! Plus I love the flowers and dots! But they’re all fantastic! I thought from the fast reel on IG you could do this with a piece of acetate you just turn but I see the different shapes now. I really love the flower card with the big white flowers too. But I love those simple shapes and they’re girly like me! Oh! I was naughty today! But I got some crazy cool looking floral dies from spellbinders sale! And tonic had the trimmers from Tim Holtz half off! I hate the one I have I’ve replaced it twice and it still won’t cut all the way down because there’s a slight gap in the blades! I just gave up. I use my 25+ yr old one. But I bought the rotary one . I’m so sick of not having a good paper trimmer. I also got the large new scissors. Told you I was bad! All at tax time! Aaahhh! Great job on this video! I love to see that talent in knowing what the inks will do!
LOL! Sounds like you had some fun. A good trimmer is a must-have - I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to have one that doesn't cut properly! I'm curious about those spring-loaded scissors - looking forward to hearing what you think. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for watching! (had to think for a minute to remember which card you meant! That is definitely an unexpected yet easy way to add a sentiment!)
Your crafty process is so zen, Ardyth! Methodical but marvellous, going with the flow when the unexpected happens, and always finishing with an eye-catching result. I love the idea of getting so many looks from just a few tools, as well as integrating what you already have. Thanks for sharing!
This would have been great when Mr. Wheel gave us "retiform" a couple weeks ago. These are beautiful. Thanks for showing SO many pretty ways to get great ink blends. KYB
Oh man, now I have to google retiform... LOL! Remind me that I have these stencils if it comes up next time I'm playing Craft Roulette with you! Thanks for watching, Mary!
Love the first stencils - can you mix the stencils not following the order - that is what I love to do - and this is a set I love to get - love your videos and your creativity A Canadian Fan..
That's the wonderful thing about layering stencils - you can use them in any order, and you don't have to use all of them either! SO many possibilities! Thanks so much for watching!
I loved these so much, so I bought them. I tried used distress oxide . NOPE! That didn't work so I tried distress inks and that did not work very well either. Is there a specific kind of ink that should be used to get the kind of results that you got? to be fair I did not wait or dry distress oxides or inks between layers,. Would that have worked? I do not own very many other ink pads. What brand would you suggest buying?
I don't use Oxide very often, so I don't have a lot of advice for them. My understanding is that they are opaque and if you let them dry they will layer over each other with minimal blending. I use Catherine Pooler inks, which should be pretty similar to the distress inks - dye inks that are very translucent. With dye inks, I think you don't want to wait for them to dry - the wetter they are, the better the blending, usually. Another thing that can impact your results is the paper you're using. I use Hammermill Cover Color Copy (or something like that), which is very smooth and makes blending very easy. Blending tools will work differently, but generally if you practice with them, you should be able to get blended results with whichever blending tool you prefer. Blending really does take practice and patience, and while you're working on your skills, there are lots of ways to distract from 'less than perfect' results - splatter with water or watercolour (I do that ALL THE TIME), spritz with shimmer (another favourite), or put sentiments, focal images or embellishments over the really rough areas. Happy to chat more about this if you want! Thanks for watching!
I shouldn't make personal remarks, but instantly thought - I like Ardyth's new hairstyle!
