@@jwvvvv tuukka rask has a better post season save percentage, and better goals against average in the postseason, than Andre vasilevskiy, in the exact same amount of games, despite playing on a historically worse team. Thomas has the best sv% of all time in the playoffs, but in half the games. It’s ridiculous to hold him to that standard.
Rask will always be remembered as one of the best goalies of this past generation. He was always dependable and clutch. It's unfortunate that he was 0-2 in the Finals, but in no way do the Bruins get there without his stellar play. His performance in the ECF in 2013 in particular vs the Pens was phenomenal. His stats are 100% amazing, but HOF worthy imo. Plus, there have been less accomplished guys that have gotten in. In time, I think he does get in and he deserves it.
Playing completely injured and halting the momentum Swayman had was selfish. Dude was never a finisher and never made timely saves. Good goalie. The end

I suppose you just think it was a coincidence that the year that Tim Thomas took over Rask’s spot was the year the B’s won the Stanley Cup, and than when Rask became the starter again, they didn’t win another one, and now look at them!!
This might be the best video yet explaining that he deserves to be a HOF. I have always loved rask I never will forget some of the crazy saves he made. Props to you bro for digging up the stats and also agreeing it wasn’t his fault that we didn’t get a championship in 13 or 19. Keep it up bro 🙌🙌
Tuukka is one of the only goalies to make the second and third save with consistency. Tuukka never let the team down they let him down. He is a definite HOF goalie.
Rask was my favorite player ever since his rookie season in 2010. IMO he was underrated by some people because simply put he was better than some other goaltenders. He was constiently in debates for a top 10 goalie in every year he was the main starter. It’s is rare, it is unfathomable, it is unheard of to see a goalie be good in EVERY single season as a starter. Only true all time greats can say they have done that. In his era rask was easily among the best in his generation. Despite all the hate he gets from his 2 cup losses it really wasn’t his fault. The bruins wouldn’t have been there without rask. It’s not his fault that his team had collapsed right in front of his eyes. After the infamous game 6 collapse in 2013 vs the Blackhawks. It’s ridiculous to me that bruins fans hated this dude for “choking”. In the 2019 playoffs he was the definition of what every single team wants from a goaltender and that’s consistency. He had a .900 save percentage in 23/24 games in the playoffs and shutdown teams in elimination games to keep his team in it. Although I do think he had easily his worst game in the playoffs vs the blues in Game 7. The bruins overall as a team were bad in that game. Binnington had the game of his life and there was nothing the bruins could do about it. I personally believe Rask was a top 5 goalie of his era as even though he had “good defenses” didn’t Martin broduer have 3 hall of fame defenseman on the same team at one point and yet he was still considered a top 5 goalie in the nhl despite the the absurd about of help he got on the blue line. You can look at the stats in this video. The numbers don’t lie. He is easily a first ballot hall of famer.
He sucked ever since he got his first contract and had no heart for the game. He was very much to blame for their losses! There is no way he is even close to being in the hall. If he gets in then it's a disgrace to the game! Yet he has fair-weather fans like you duped!!
He is the reason Swayman lost his growth curve. Gets benched for an immobile, old Tuukka. Dude was just a good goalie on great teams. Never made timely saves and never won his own cup

There was definitely a narrative created by boston media that because he had a more reserved personality, he couldn’t handle the big market/ handle but moments. That was likely derived from succeeding Tim Thomas who had the greatest stats of any goalie in the postseason ever. These people don’t understand that even the best goalies don’t save everything, but the ones that win get helped tremendously by their team. When the goalie is the best player on your team, which rask clearly was in 2019, it’s the team that let him down in the big moment, not the other way around. Everyone loves and respects brad Marchand, but he absolutely sold harder than any bruin I’ve ever seen on that second goal in game 7, yet the whole game is blamed on rask when that was the clear shift in momentum that led to the final outcome of the game. There are several other examples where can think of of the team letting rask down.
I’m pretty sure Jonathan Quick had a better postseason than Tim Thomas in 2012. Easily a greater postseason. Like, Quick was half a goal lower on GAA and .06 higher on save percentage. Also, Thomas had way more goal support than Quick did. I think JS Giguere might have also had better stats in 2003, even if he lost in game 7 that year. (Last winner of the Conn Smythe to not win the Cup if I remember correctly) Thomas had an amazing postseason, but you’re overselling it a bit. Maybe he had the greatest stats of a Boston goalie in the postseason ever, and he is definitely up there in the best postseasons, but he is by no means the greatest ever.
Under Julien and Cassidy the Bruins focused too much on defense and not enough on scoring. Even through the Thomas years if the Bruins would score 3+ goals they would typically win (yes, I know, there were times they gave up 3+ goals, few and far between)
No cups unless you count watching 2011 from the bench and he blew Game 6 of the Finals in 2013, choked a 3-0 series lead in 2010 (Thomas didn't play that series, Rask did). No.

Simple as that. Nobody slanders Tuukka because of his skill. They slander him because of his work ethic.
Percentages and stats mean almost nothing when the Bruins literally had 30 shots in one period and 0 goals and the opponent had 3 shots and 3 goals. Look did he play well enough to win that series? Yes except game 7.
I think the point that needs to be reinforced is that Rask was the only reason the Bruins made it that deep in both runs. Of course, this would likely be true of any team contending for a cup, but to ignore the body of work for one game (albeit the biggest of games) is a disservice to the sport. Yes - we love championships, but do we not also love the 82 games and playoff grind to get there?
@@andrewjohnston7129 Thats completely fair. To ignore %99 of his work that year and how his stood on his head in the conference championship was outstanding. I’m merely pointing out that if we only want to talk statistics sometimes those few loss’s come at the worst times. I know he wanted that Tim Thomas monkey off his back but I’ll never forget that game. It hurt a lot.
As a bruins fan easy hall of famer. And to someone who thinks otherwise watch the whole video then think to yourself: if lindquvist is a hall of famer. Then why wouldn’t rask be one too?
I'm a B's guy. Not analytical like this video is, however. I felt that he may be a fringe HoFer. You know, not first ballot. I felt he got more crap then he deserved. You still have to put the puck in the net, and they just didn't do that. So Rask can be considered the Dan Marino or Carl Yastrezemski of hockey. I'd buy that for a dollar.
Do a plus minus games won when facing more shots than the other end vs games lost when facing fewer shots than the other end players are rated plus minus on goals when they are on the ice. do the same for Rask
Rask is a great regular season goalie. But was never the goalie he needed to be when it counted the most... in the playoffs and the cup. He was a great goalie Stats wise during the regular season but hof goalies need to be elite when it counted the most and needed the stats of an elite player not only during the season but during the playoffs too and be consistent year in and year out. He had some great years and shit post season and then be avg for the season and have a great series then be trash for the next series. He has never been able to be consistent. I'm a life long bruins fan and I love tuukka. But I don't think that he is a HOF goalie. I think Andy moog was a better goalie than tuukka. But I don't get to choose who is in or out of the HOF lol. He has had stacked teams for years and couldn't find the key saves he needed to make to get a cup. But it's my opinion
As a bruins fan who loved Tuukka, I really don't see a path to the Hall for him. Maybe if he had played another like 5 years at his elite level there could be an argument made for him but, he doesn't have enough accolades or longevity to be considered for the Hall in my opinion. He only has 1 Vezina, 1 William Jennings, and was only an All-star 3 times. He only got Bronze at a single Olympics and his only Stanley cup was won from the bench. As much as I love him, h'es not a Hall of Famer.
I've neven been a fan of how much the Hall leans into Olympic resumes (to try to distinguish themselves from the NHL). Whereas there are competitive constraints in the NHL (namely the salary cap), the Olympics and any other international competition is always going to be dominated by the hockey powerhouses. I would argue that a Bronze for Finland should be viewed in the same way a Gold would be for Canada.
Had the flu and could not play in a game 7 vs Montreal. Left team during playoffs fearing Covid but was seen in Boston club the next night. Not a team player. Does not deserve B hall or real hall. Regular season goalie very good. Post season goalie not so much. No .
His numbers are decent.... but hall of fame just doesn't come to mind when you hear tuuka rask.. Remember he quit on his team twice..hardly any individual awards... couldn't win the big one.. hardly ever led the league in any one dept..good goalie but never had that X factor
Good goalie on great defensive teams. Never won a cup because he would let up bad, untimely goals and not make one two big saves when the team needed. Super talent, disinterested attitude. Will probably get in but never clutch
This is just the placebo effect man. I can’t think of any brutal goals he gave up in bad situations in the playoffs that cost the bruins their season. He just played after Tim Thomas, who has the best post season save percentage of any goalie ever. Boston fans must’ve gotten used to the best of all time, but it wasn’t a significant drop off, and rask also played a lot more postseason games. Safe to say that if Thomas played as many post season games as rask has, his stats wouldn’t be as good as they are.
@@CavemanCavemanCaveman probably i dont think tim thomas is hof goalie either though. Chara and for Rask Bergeron limited high quality chances and thats why when Rask let in goals they were soft most of the time. Btw yes we are spoiled but hey thank the billonaire owners of the bigger markets 🤷🏻♂️
Been a Bruins fan since I was 12 when Cam Neely played. Say what you will about Tuukka but IMHO he should be a hall of famer. He has some seriously good stats as a Bruin. I knew he would never win a cup and I wish he would have proved me wrong but I still think he was a great goalie.
Using 2009-2019 is very convenient. It is called HOF for a reason. it is meant for the GREAT players of hockeys history. Not the very good. Also if u used Lundqvists stats from 2006-2016 the comparison would no longer be close. Using 2009-2019 cuts out Hanks best early years and includes when he began to decline. Tuuka is no doubt a very good goalie but Not a HOF.
No, lost 2 Stanley cup finals, one where they were the much better team. Lost 3 home games in that final too. He played great at times, but not at the critical points.
@@counterfit5 I want him to not give up soft goals in a game 7. The convo is about is he HOF worthy. He would make spectacular saves, but for an elite goalie, too many soft goals in critical situations.

Well he has one Stanley cup from 2011 but like you said, he was backup goalie and not a starter
There are two kinds of hockey fans: people who understand the game, and people who always blame the goalie.
Yes he deserves to go
Percentages and stats mean almost nothing when the Bruins literally had 30 shots in one period and 0 goals and the opponent had 3 shots and 3 goals.
I don’t think he will get into the hall immediately but give it time and he will make it
I agree with you but I just wish he could have played his best in game 7 of 2019.
He has the numbers but the bad goals he let in look terrible because of his style of play. I’m a bruins fan and argued with Rask haters constantly
Do a plus minus
games won when facing more shots than the other end vs games lost when facing fewer shots than the other end
players are rated plus minus on goals when they are on the ice. do the same for Rask
He has the most wins by any goalie ever drafted by the Toronto maple leafs without even playing a single game for them
Jere Lehtinen deserves HOF more than Tuukka, or any other Finn.
Bruins fans don’t appreciate what they had with tuukka. I fear they will do the same with sway
swayman sucks right now
Zachary Sneider is a BYH HOFer
It'd be insane if he's not inducted into the HOF.
Had the flu and could not play in a game 7 vs Montreal. Left team during playoffs fearing Covid but was seen in Boston club the next night. Not a team player. Does not deserve B hall or real hall. Regular season goalie very good. Post season goalie not so much. No .
He put up bright shiny numbers, but if he had to make a stop he didn't.
I like the guy but no HOF.
Yes
Tuukka did win a cup, just as a backup
His selfish attitude to play completely unable to move when Swayman was riding a hot hand into the playoffs was the icing on the cake that was a good but never next level career. Btw yes we are spoiled but hey thank the billonaire owners of the bigger markets 🤷🏻♂️
Rask or Price?
Been a Bruins fan since I was 12 when Cam Neely played. Say what you will about Tuukka but IMHO he should be a hall of famer. He has some seriously good stats as a Bruin. I knew he would never win a cup and I wish he would have proved me wrong but I still think he was a great goalie.
All Day Long!
Lifelong bruins fans Once a quitter always a quitter and that's tuka
As a life long Bruins fan, no he doesn't deserve to be in the HoF. He got 1 vezina trophy and no stanley cups as a starter.
Put him in the HOF but Thomas should go in first.
Not before Thomas
For giving up the softest goals when they mattered the most? Wasn't aware that should be lauded.
No
His problem was bad goals poor in play offs
Did you not just watch the video? He was one of the best playoff goalies of his era, arguably the best.
He was very good but he is not a Hall of Famer. If he was a Hall of Fame goalie, the Bruins would have won the Cup in 2013 and 2019.
Rask would be a 1st ballot lobby of greatness.... not hall of fame
No, lost 2 Stanley cup finals, one where they were the much better team. Lost 3 home games in that final too. He played great at times, but not at the critical points.
You want him to score against the Blues in that game 7?
@@counterfit5 I want him to shut out St. Louis the way Tim Thomas shut out Vancouver in Game 7 in 2011.
@@counterfit5 I want him to not give up soft goals in a game 7. The convo is about is he HOF worthy. He would make spectacular saves, but for an elite goalie, too many soft goals in critical situations.
A farmer's hole, he is... ruukka(am I missing one ''k''?) kask was THE ONE and ONLY type that LEFT his/her Team WHILE Playoffs 2020. When I heard about it I ''thought'' something happened to by his folks in his home country... but it turned out that being with his team during the Playoffs he started MISSING(!) his family in Boston! rakS, him AIN'T even deserve a proper comment right here on UA-cam, let alone HOF...
Has he started shaving yet?
No. Choker Rask is barely above average.
He has some epic saves, but so many more weak goals.
Great guy, solid goalie... But no.
I’m sorry for how tuukka was treated in Boston, but you have to understand, we just saw Tim thomas with possibly the best goalie season ever, the bar was high
Could never get it done in the playoffs
Ullmark is HOF
Man step away from the mic. You have great content but it’s hard to understand you
HoF??? Get outta here. He cost the Bruins 2 Cups, arguably 3. Every time he was in net when all the chips were on the table HE LOST! The fact his name is in the Cup is sickening. He had twice as many losses that season as wins. He's a bum and now that he's gone, look at the Bruins!!!!
Let’s not forget that the Leafs traded Rask to Boston and he’s haunted them ever since then
Great regular season goalie but he simply doesn't have the pedigree other inductees have. One Vezina, no real international success (bronze), no cups. HOF goalies are extraordinary, he was merely great.
You don’t win it all, you don’t get the live. Sorry.
His name is on the cup. Can't say he didn't win it.
@@jamespedersen6260 He didnt play. Why do people bring up this when this topic comes around? Its needlessly pedantic and we all know it doesnt count for a goalie when they ride the bench.
If he gets into the hof over Price the nhl is officially a joke.
Definitely belongs in the Hall of Very Good at least
After 2019 cup finals. Hell no.
NO
The hell you mean NO?! Rask without question should be HOF and a stanley cup winner. If he didnt have that injury to take away his career, Probably would have been a champion last year and or this year.
@@hunterfinemore2136 An average NHL goaltender at best. One who lucked out and played on one of the best defensive teams of the past 15 years. As for his Stanley Cup, he won it sitting on the bench watching a goaltender play. The Bruins won games in spite of him, not because of him.
@@Seeker22000 Michael Ryder was actually the backup goalie in 2011; his save in game 5 vs Montreal allowed the B's to make it into overtime, setting the stage for Nathan Horton's overtime goal.
@@lincolnmaceachern2410 And what a save it was too! Open net, he makes his way into the crease, faces the shooter and makes a great glove save. The only thing better is if he'd caught it.
@@Seeker22000 Imagine actually thinking this when the entire video goes over how he was significantly above average.
