Toadsworth is back in the Mario & Luigi Superstar Remake. Hopefully it jumps some more popularity in the character to become a mainstay like Captain Toad did with Toadette.
@AAA Silva Yeah, I wish they kept that mechanic. Rewarding the player for not just learning the moves but mastering them to the point where the bros in-game can improve and become stronger.
I recently bought the game and basically just upgraded attack every level up, and gave Luigi pants that let him use a move before the enemy in a fight. It let him heal Mario and himself before the enemy could get the end of our health gone. Then I just hung in there and smacked her up.

I'd rather have him in the roster of that franchise. The Mario Kart games have been pretty lazy with regards to characters (Metal Mario, Pink Gold Peach).

I never had a problem with grinding at all in his game. You can avoid every attack in the game with skill, so theoretically, there shouldn't be any mandatory grinding.
Spoiler alert: When facing cackletta soul, you have 1 hp and bp on both bros, and she has insane speed. So either you dodge her attacks perfectly, or you grind up enough speed to heal on turn 1.

I was so glad to see that you acknowledged the humor the game has and the flushed out character development between the two brothers. That is exactly why i love this game. Me and a lot of other people got mad and left after that... That twist would've been perfect for the spoiler section, but without the spoiler section, it ruined a couple of our experiences. I think being inconsiderate will make you lose more views than saving spoilers for it's own warned section.

The spoiler section was stupid. I couldn't watch episodes about games I hadn't played because I wanted to know if I should bother completing them or not, but I didn't want to know story spoilers, and skipping the spoiler section with the button wouldn't ONLY skip the story stuff, but ALSO all the completion stuff, making the video pointless. I'd have to go digging through the video trying to find where the story spoilers ended and the completion stuff began so I could watch the part I wanted to watch without seeing the part I didn't want to watch, but then by searching through the video LOOKING for that part, I'd end up seeing story stuff in the spoiler section! It was a nightmare and wasn't worth it so I stopped watching the videos. I'm glad the spoiler section is gone. Jirard's reviews aren't about the story, they're about the completion aspect of the gameplay: what it takes to complete the game and what you GET for completing the game. Unless the completion bonus is story-related, like a bonus ending or something, there's no reason to include story spoilers at all in a review about completing a game and unlocking everything in it.

same, very much so, in fact i hope one day to get a team of indie devs together and create a fanmade sequel that's Free to Play for everyone, bringing in even more characters from the Mario Universe and taking in as much diversity and fun as possible to put into the fan game.
I just had a million dollar idea. Not Mario RPG 2 but Smash RPG! Too many characters/you don't want to play Chrono Cross? No prob, just turn Mario(maybe Luigi as well) into a traveling freedom fighter, teaming up with other characters to do the heavy lifting and then move on to let them mop up. Each main story chapter would be a setting that multiple smash characters came from. Liberally sprinkle in side quest single locations with one off smash characters(Captain Falcon, Captain Olimar, Mr. Game & Watch etc.).
This is, no joke, one of my all time favorite games ever made. It's so good and it holds up really well, so much so that I was actually playing this game the other day.
I know this comment might not get noticed but heck I'm just glad to see someone who loves Mario RPG as much as I do. I got my copy of it when I was in the 6th grade and I loved it and do a run of it at least 2 times in a year whenever my big brother gets the time to visit when he gets time off working overseas. This channel's already got quite a bit for Mario RPGs - i think this is the 4th. I like how The RPGs stay in offshoot territory. So in staying in offshoot territory and bringing some new, how about a game call Super Princess Peach?
Well....he got at least as close to 100% as you can in this game. There's a boss that, depending on how you beat it, gives 1 of 2 items, so you ALWAYS miss one item in a run. Very minor though, and I don't think this was an "all items" run anyway. Also vote with the Mario RPG stuff, alternate series and go in order, so Thousand Year Door next.
McBehrer it's the piranha plant that eats the bean fruit as I recall, and it's not random, it's determined by what you land the final blow with. either gives pants or a badge.
I played through some of Super Mario RPG legend of the seven stars (fifth one I played) I beat super saga (it was the first. one I played and it's still my favorite) I played through part of partners of time. (third one I played) I beat bowsers inside story (it's the second one I played) I played only the demo for dream team (4th one...) I beat paper jam (was the fourth one I played.)
Not to mention the soundtracks for the bosses and the final boss being badass! Without spoiling it but I LOVE the final boss music both of the variants and listen to them constantly
Brett Swope It might as well be. The guy found icons for ever oasis and M&L SS DX. The Ever Oasis icons were legit. That probably means it's gonna get a remake.
It's more likely that he was showing how they work to illustrate the 'button-pressing minigame' aspect of the attacks. I find it more likely that, as the Completionist, he quickly unlocked the Advanced versions and used those.
PIT is ass. I could not finish the chore that extends the play time by making the enemies have too much hp. There's no strategy in the battles, it's rinse and repeat cannon every time. The locations aren't interesting...
I love this game and most of the mario and luigi rpg games. The hardest boss I have to say is fawful. The final boss has only has one difficulty mechanic and it is you start at 1 hp.
Fun fact: In E. Gadd's Coffee Shop, it was said that he was only supposed to give you the first reward. For all others, he would be randomly replaced by Wario, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Captain Olimar, Link, or an Excitebike racer. Thay may have made Smash Bros. canon.
Super Mario RPG is by far the weakest Mario RPG there is. It only gets so much love because it was the first. Paper Mario and TYD and the M&L games are all superior to it.
Super Mario RPG is a game you need a VERY thick pair of Nostalgia Goggles for. It's not bad, it just feels like classic SNES Squaresoft, for better and worse. So you will get your fun Mario moments, and great spin on the combat, but when you have later games that take the concept and blow it completely out of the water like Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door or Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story, there really is nothing left the original can claim for itself other than, "Hey, I came first. Anyone up for some nostalgia?"
I would like you to do Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door next. Then Mario and Luigi Partners in time. and just keep alternating between the two. Also sorry for when you play Sticker Star... I Completed it and I absolutely hate that game. (Color Splash was fun though)

i think it will be quite hard to beat final boss without any death..you have to trial n error remembering boss's pattern attack

It really diminishes the point of completing a game when you can't even see the ending section.
the main problem with the removal of the spoiler section - this video contains a spoiler / plot twist woth no warning!
The spoiler section was stupid. I couldn't watch episodes about games I hadn't played because I wanted to know if I should bother completing them or not, but I didn't want to know story spoilers, and skipping the spoiler section with the button wouldn't ONLY skip the story stuff, but ALSO all the completion stuff, making the video pointless. I'd have to go digging through the video trying to find where the story spoilers ended and the completion stuff began so I could watch the part I wanted to watch without seeing the part I didn't want to watch, but then by searching through the video LOOKING for that part, I'd end up seeing story stuff in the spoiler section! It was a nightmare and wasn't worth it so I stopped watching the videos. I'm glad the spoiler section is gone. Jirard's reviews aren't about the story, they're about the completion aspect of the gameplay: what it takes to complete the game and what you GET for completing the game. Unless the completion bonus is story-related, like a bonus ending or something, there's no reason to include story spoilers at all in a review about completing a game and unlocking everything in it.

Paper Mario and M&L games are fun, but I wish Mario RPG would get a true sequel! It's one of my favorite games too!
same, very much so, in fact i hope one day to get a team of indie devs together and create a fanmade sequel that's Free to Play for everyone, bringing in even more characters from the Mario Universe and taking in as much diversity and fun as possible to put into the fan game.
I just had a million dollar idea. Not Mario RPG 2 but Smash RPG! Too many characters/you don't want to play Chrono Cross? No prob, just turn Mario(maybe Luigi as well) into a traveling freedom fighter, teaming up with other characters to do the heavy lifting and then move on to let them mop up. Each main story chapter would be a setting that multiple smash characters came from. Liberally sprinkle in side quest single locations with one off smash characters(Captain Falcon, Captain Olimar, Mr. Game & Watch etc.).

This is, no joke, one of my all time favorite games ever made. It's so good and it holds up really well, so much so that I was actually playing this game the other day.
I know this comment might not get noticed but heck I'm just glad to see someone who loves Mario RPG as much as I do. I got my copy of it when I was in the 6th grade and I loved it and do a run of it at least 2 times in a year whenever my big brother gets the time to visit when he gets time off working overseas. Thanks for doing a completionist run of this game and expressing how much you love mario RPG

Well....he got at least as close to 100% as you can in this game. There's a boss that, depending on how you beat it, gives 1 of 2 items, so you ALWAYS miss one item in a run. Very minor though, and I don't think this was an "all items" run anyway.
Also vote with the Mario RPG stuff, alternate series and go in order, so Thousand Year Door next.

which boss are you referring to? I don't remember a boss with random drops...
McBehrer it's the piranha plant that eats the bean fruit as I recall, and it's not random, it's determined by what you land the final blow with. either gives pants or a badge.

I played through some of Super Mario RPG legend of the seven stars (fifth one I played)
I beat super saga (it was the first. one I played and it's still my favorite)
I played through part of partners of time. (third one I played)
I beat bowsers inside story (it's the second one I played)
I played only the demo for dream team (4th one...)
I beat paper jam
(was the fourth one I played.)
Rest in Pasta Alphadream.
Not to mention the soundtracks for the bosses and the final boss being badass! Without spoiling it but I LOVE the final boss music both of the variants and listen to them constantly

Did he never turn the Bros move difficulty up to 3? That seems odd for Jirard. Also I wish he would've talked about Advanced Bros attacks.
RockEsper Yeah, all the footage he played showed him using Lv. 1 Bros. attacks. I never use them, they're weak and make battles too slow.

It's more likely that he was showing how they work to illustrate the 'button-pressing minigame' aspect of the attacks. I find it more likely that, as the Completionist, he quickly unlocked the Advanced versions and used those.

PIT is ass. I could not finish the chore that extends the play time by making the enemies have too much hp. There's no strategy in the battles, it's rinse and repeat cannon every time. The locations aren't interesting...
Partners in Time I enjoyed way more than Superstar Saga.

I love this game and most of the mario and luigi rpg games. The hardest boss I have to say is fawful. The final boss has only has one difficulty mechanic and it is you start at 1 hp.
Are you forgetting the fact that the boss has a regenerating shield and 3 attack turns?
3 attacks per turn is nothing and regen she got was not that great either.
It still looks so much better and more beautiful than the remake. Wonderful writing in this one.
Well said, I still like the original Skeleton Kong in the barrels minigame more than its replacement in the remake.
Fun fact: In E. Gadd's Coffee Shop, it was said that he was only supposed to give you the first reward. For all others, he would be randomly replaced by Wario, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Captain Olimar, Link, or an Excitebike racer.

Superstar Saga is much much better than Mario RPG
Super Mario RPG is by far the weakest Mario RPG there is. It only gets so much love because it was the first. Paper Mario and TYD and the M&L games are all superior to it.

Super Mario RPG is a game you need a VERY thick pair of Nostalgia Goggles for.
It's not bad, it just feels like classic SNES Squaresoft, for better and worse.
So you will get your fun Mario moments, and great spin on the combat, but when you have later games that take the concept and blow it completely out of the water like Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door or Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story, there really is nothing left the original can claim for itself other than, "Hey, I came first. Anyone up for some nostalgia?"
