Have to admit Sonny is my least favorite character on GH, but because I have been such a fan of Maurice Benard since he played Nico on All My Children, I find myself giving the character a pass. I've especially liked Sonny a lot during the last year. Love all his scenes with Laura--appreciate the callback to their past friendship. And, Maurice and Max Gail have absolutely rocked the story line about Mike's Alzheimers'. As someone who lived through that with my dad, their performances are spot on and Emmy worthy. In fact, I completely lost it (couldn't stop crying) during the episodes when Mike stopped eating because I know from personal experience what comes next. Watching Sonny sitting by Mike's bed begging him to eat--that was me with my dad. It's truly heartbreaking to watch someone you love go through this, but letting go felt even harder. A thousand, thousand thank yous to both Maurice Benard and Max Gail for such an honest portrayal.
It was very sad, they did real good doing scenes like that... l think Sonny Boy you were AWESOME, I CRIED!! I'm Frankie by the way one of our Daughters calls me Franks, Frank, Frank Frank, l think one more maybe but don't know if there is another one!! Joss totally was fabulous!! So was l but l didn't get just one part, l think my part was to CRY, CRY, CRY,...I THINK I CAN CRY BETTER THAN CARLY AT TIMES, JUST SAYING!!

The last TV that made me cry was the aftermath of the bomb at the Floating Rib.. All the actors were so d____ good. I totally believed the hurt in Sam's eyes. And when Dev died, I thought Sonny (Maurice) was going to lose it. The pain was palpable. Sonny is the mobster we root for...he is cool and totally loves his family.

You are great together on the show and seeing you as yourselves on this. 20 or 25 years ago I lived in California for 1 year and that one of the first days I was there I went to Bally's and looked up and saw Maurice on the Machine across from me and I was so starstruck I couldn't even tell him what a great actor I thought he was. And then I saw him a couple more times in that year with his wife and young kids when I would jog around the Hollywood Reservoir under the Hollywood Sign. Wish I would have said hello and told you how much I enjoy your work. But you all play your characters so well and I hope General Hospital's on forever but I know soaps are kind of dwindling off but you'll be the last one standing I know it. Maybe I was scared to say hello to Maurice cuz I was used to seeing him as a mobster. LOL.
