- In this video I'm going to show you How to Make Carve and Paint your very own EVA Foam Pumpkin. This HD Foam pumpkin is a great custom Halloween Decoration and along with the DIY build tutorial I also go over 2 different crafting techniques for carving and painting. This carving process is also very easy and a lot less messy than dealing with a real pumpkin. Plus on the bright side it won't need to go in the trash at the end of the holiday so you can use it again next year! So if you want to craft your own custom Halloween decorations tune in to this video as well as others on my channel!

Pretty awesome. I like the Jekyll and Hyde aspect of the demo piece.
You know me if I do something a little to cute I need to balance it out!
I can't thank you enough for all these tutorials and free templates! You're so amazing to this community!!
ANDCosplay Thank You! I really appreciate hearing that and just help me by sharing these builds with friends and family 👍
Well done! Great way to have awesome pumpkins that don’t turn to mush after a few weeks!
Thank you very much and yep year round Halloween is possible!
This is frikkin genius!
Thanks! 🙌
I really want to make a pumpkin head mask- this tutorial is perfect thanks!
You’re welcome! 👍
I found it.
Incredible work as always and rest assured I will try.
❤🇲🇽🎃
Sick, can't wait to try it!
Thanks! Have Fun!
wow ! thats amazing you're a detailed person great creation
Thanks! 🙌
Fantastic tutorial. I will definitely make this
Thank you very much!
Отлично. Спасибо за идею
Very cool 😃🎃
Muy bien
Thanks!
I just made this, easy to follow. I painted the inside of the pumpkin black before gluing it together so the light was more effective, other than that, it "almost" looks like yours. Still working on that pram! Almost done.
painting the inside beforehand is a good idea!
Thank you so much, I was hoping you would do this
You're welcome have fun!
Wycked love it
Thanks!
Looks so cool it looks like a pumpkin cake with two face I have seen be for 🖤😗
Thank You!
Your welcome
Super tight 👌🏽
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I've been looking for a pumpkin alternative to the expensive vinyl ones at the craft stores!
If you want to put a tea light candle inside, could you carve out the top like a regular pumpkin after assembly?
Thanks and yes you could definitely carve out the top just like a real pumpkin
My cousin who is a master at cosplay sent this to me to help with my Halloween costume. But um I hope I can
Thanks for this! All the foam craft pumpkins are sold out already, now I can make my own. Do you think for a smaller pumpkin, say with 12" template pieces 6mm foam would hold up?
Yes me of my friends made a 6mm smaller pumpkin right before Halloween
Is there a trick to using hand tools on the clay foam. I find it dries to quick and the tool wont crave. I've added water and it still doesn't want to crave though it. I've used both plastic and metal carving tools.
The trick is just making sure your foam clay stays hydrated. I prefer silicone tipped tools because they have a little give to them but I have used tongue depressors as well for sculpting I just dunk them in water first.
Will you post more halloween videos this year? I love your ideas.
I hope to, building a Warhammer Bolt Pistol for Games Workshop currently
Oh man, curse my impatience lmao. I accidentally skipped through the part where you said the pieces needed to be turned upside down and was confused why I was holding a sphere 😂
if i wanted to make this a tad bigger/wider to use as a mask over someone's head, would i just add a couple more panels? excited to try this out!
I’d probably add a panel and maybe increase the scale by 10% you’ll have to play with the dimensions
Heat form the parts before gluing. Less stress when gluing. But I'm sure you knew that 🙂
Yep but that's why I rolled them with my hands, unlike cheaper quality foam products the higher density of my foam allows it be formed even without heat.
Love it! I was curious, I found your video because I was looking to make a pumpkin head. Is there any recommendations you would have for sizing it for a mask?
Thanks! I’m not really sure might try 150% and go from there
Awesome build, do you think it would work if you cut an opening in the bottom to make it wearable? Thanks!
You would want to scale the pattern up some to fit but yeah it would work
Where can I find the template for this?
thank you for posting this, its awesome. Can you please tell me about how much one of these costs to make? I was looking at the foam on Amazon. The pieces are 35" x 59" How many pumpkins do you get out of a sheet of foam? More than one? In other words, is it more cost effective than purchasing a foam pumpkin at a craft store? Thanks again
well unless you have worked with foam before I'd say stick to the retail store ones because this pattern is a little tough for a new crafter(see my video on how to customize a retail store pumpkin). However if you are experienced this is a way to build whatever size you want and customize it to your liking. Also the foam you buy definitely makes a big difference and there is nothing on amazon that compares in quality to the foam I sell through Blick Art Materials. If your foam is of a lower density it's going to be much harder to manipulate and work with
Can you do an EVA Large foam Cauldron?
Maybe I'm still working out the rest of my Halloween schedule
Could I add more panels to the pumpkin to give a more round and wide look?
Yes but I’d also scale it up some for the pieces to curve properly 👍
Is there specifics for the spraypaint you used? I am having a time trying to find matte high quality pumpkin orange spray paint.
Rustoleum and Krylon are my go to paints found at lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart
If one wanted to color the inside of the pumpkin [for the carved option], at which point would you paint the inner surfaces?
I’d paint the pieces once they are cut out but not assembled that way once assembled the inside is good to go
@@SKSProps Awesome! We'll be purchasing some of your products in February!
What kind of led light was that? Really want to order some!
These are the ones I used amzn.to/3lr9eDM
SKS Props Thank you so much!!
I know I'm over looking it somewhere. I can not seem to find the download for the template.
Link is in the description and it’s 3/4 down the template page
Can this be altered to be made into a costume headpiece?
It could
But you’d want to scale it up a bit to fit over your head
Maybe 10% 🤷♂️
Just discovered your channel and I can't wait to try creating this for my Halloween display this year; however, I think I may be losing it because I can't find a link for the template. Can you point me in the right direction?
Annnd, I found it! Really excited to try this one! Thanks!!!
Is there a way to edit the template to get different sizes or shapes (like if I wanted a fat stout pumpkin)?
you would just need to adjust the height and curve from the top point to the bottom and make your template shorter and wider
SKS Props thank you! Thought it would of been more complex than that
The Weldwood vs Barge debate is moot. Weldwood is just as strong as Barge. I've used both and both hold up just fine.
Otherwise great video. I definitely plan to make a few of these. Any chance you'll make a skull template?
I was going to say the same weldwood is just as good.
Gonna have to disagree Even though I have moved to using weldwood for almost all of my foam projects as my go to contact cement, barge will always be a stronger bond. Most of the time that much strength isn't needed in a foam fabrication but here I would recommend it.
The second coat of Weldwood made all the difference for me. No Barge locally, anyway. I love your videos! Thank you!
@@SKSProps what would be a good equivalent to Barge? I don't have it locally.
@@kykat112 weldwood contact cement is available at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Walmart just put down 2 layers instead of one
I wanted to try but I can't find the template.
It’s midway down my template page right by the witch hat www.SKSProps.com/templates
Please make Harry Potter related things, like sorting hat, quaffle, cauldrons, owls, mandrakes, etc.
Thanks
excellent... you make it look way to easy lol...
Thanks! I’ve been doing this for a looooong time 🤣
Marry me! My husband doesn’t get my obsession with Halloween prop making. 🤷♀️ 😆
Get him involved! Have him make a Witch hat or Frankenstein mask with you 👍
SKS Props If I could do that, I wouldn’t have proposed!!!! 😆😆😆😆
