Catch n Cook Crappie Fishing Challenge - Cheating with Secret Bait!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- This is a catch n cook crappie fishing challenge on lake Sam Rayburn in east Texas. I go fishing with Shaine and we are fishing against Arron and Chris from Tackle Addict to see what team can bring in the most fish. We ended up cheating and using live bait to catch our fish, but it made such a big difference! The crappie jigs we were using were getting bites, but the fish were not hanging on. After our challenge, we are gathering at Tackle Addict to have a family fish fry. I normally go bass fishing when I'm on the lake, but this was the most fun I've had on the lake in a long time. The crappie fishing was so good and the best part was getting to eat the delicious fish at the end of the day with our friends. If you haven't tried crappie fishing, it's a lot of fun and there are plenty of them in the lake. They like to hang out in the brush piles and you can use a fish finder to get right on top of the fish and vertical jig for them. There are also bluegill, largemouth bass, and spotted bass that hang out with the crappie eating the bait in the brush piles. If you don't have a boat there are a number of guides for crappie fishing on the lake. These fish have to be 10" long to keep in Texas and you can keep 25 a person. Hope you are hungry! See you on the next fishing trip Fishing Freaks!

The black stripe on it's back is a genetic trait and they also have a black patch on their top lip. We call them "blacknose" crappie and they are somewhat rare. They are also known as Magnolia crappie in some parts of the US. The more you know....
Love the videos. My grandpa took my brother and I crappie fishing on Lake Greenwood in the 70's. Honest truth we would get over a 100 sometimes. The throw over the side basket would be as tall as I was with crappie and white bass. Best days of my life, 53 now. There wasn't a limit back then. My grandpa and my dad would be up to sun up cleaning fish. Just getting back into fishing and your videos are informative and definitely inspiring. Thanks for what you do. God bless you brother and your family.
please tell him to lube up his steering wheel on the boat lol
Yeah, that hurt my ear.
lol something is squeaking and needs to stop!
Mr. Shaky head just started watching the video today and i was just about to comment that
Mr. Shaky head omg its actually driving me insane can't watch the video just because
im sure hed allow any of you to come do it for him
My grandpa and I caught 74 good sized bluegill in 2 1/2 hours in the same spot. Fried em' up and had a huge fish fry. Greatest fishing memory ever
One day me and my brother got 22 from a single spot...... I know a lot of people that simply don't understand the flavor of fresh fish. I have always thought that fish in restaurants and supermarkets tastes like something else not good!

Many years back, in my grandpa's 1955 Lone Star boat on Lake Brownwood. My great aunt, 5 year old cousin and myself loaded the boat with a limit of crappie... each! We put him in the middle of the boat with a fish basket and minnow bucket at each end. In between one of us baiting his hook and the other one taking his fish off we were catching and reloading too. It was an absolute blast to spend that time on the water. She was supposed to be back in camp to cook breakfast but when I mentioned it she calmly stated, "they can cook their own breakfast... I'm busy!"! RIP to my great aunt Henrietta. Thanks for one of the best days I have ever had on the water!
Most of cought in one day is 28 large mouth bass in 6rs Down in Waxahachie Tx.Used a Gary Yamamoto 3.5 swim bait black and blue color.
I love crappies. Had it the first time last week and couldn't get enough of it.
this one time i caught about 500 shad in less than a minute with my castnet
I went with an Uncle to Spadra Landing on Lake Dardanelle in Arkansas for an overnighter... we had two gross of minnows, and used them all in one spot. We fished for about 7 hours using all of the minnows, and then picking the dead ones that had fallen out of the mouths of the fish we were catching, and still caught more fish. We carried an ice chest full of fish home, and then had to clean and fillet them before getting any rest. We had a blast! And the fish fry was great as well! We had two cane poles each and were baiting one while the other already had a fish on. This was the best fishing trip I've ever been on. I enjoy watching your videos LFG.
caught 45 lbs of catfish at a grain elevator in Alabama. No fish were bigger than 2 1/2 lbs. took almost 3 hours to clean them all
that's 45 lbs fillet'd
Outstanding haul, great eating!
Set It Deep!!! I caught 94 pounds of catfish noodling in a dam and that's between 4 fish one was 36 pounds
Guntersville?
I’m glad he actually knows the names of the small species instead of just knowing bass like a good percent of other UA-cam fishers
That is literally my DREAM boat!!!
Caught 6 largemouth bass in one day off the same submerged log. All over 5 pounds. Largest 7 lbs 9 oz.
Best day bassin ever.
A little over 80 out of one spot!
Any crappie fishing advice? I wanna get into it and I have a bunch of jigs and stuff but IDK. Thought you'd might know
Years ago when I was roughly 12 years old, Dad and two others set up shop on top of a pile of big perch on Lake Erie...we turned them into a fish cleaning outfit that cleaned them and totaled em up for us...180 in 5 hours. Must have been in the mid 1980’s...too much fun!
I'm not really the type to brag about my catches but... I caught my pb Crappie!! It was 18 inches and 3.2 lbs!
The most I've caught in one spot, at one time, was 117 crappie. Fishing 1\32oz. gulp minnow, all of them were NOT keepers, but it was fun.
I came back the following day and only caught 43!
I've never forgotten that trip. All were caught from the bank....
And greace his steering wheel lol
creede 101 Check out 3 pound crappie
Fishing worth a sub
Looks delicious! I've never wanted to fish for crappie before but now I'm game!
50 rockfish it a very big fight but it's worth it the meat is up their with crappies
There*
Many years ago...when I was a teenager (71 now)....3 of us caught 147 Crappie in one day on a lure called a "Crappie Killer". Basically a fluorescent pink lead head jig with a white feather covering the barb of the hook. Used a bobber to slowly drag the bait through the water. When the bobber went down...you had a fish. We caught them in Wisconsin on Big Birch Lake.
The limit was 50 ea.
The most I've ever caught in one spot would be 14 catfish out of the New River here in NC. It took about an hour in the middle of the night and me and my fiancé had one on the line after every single cast. Nothing with good size but we had a blast!
Ryan Houck charlotte concord guy here. badin lake is slammed with crappie. four 5 gallon buckets full few years ago.
eat it
We have a pond behind m house in Wilmington NC loaded with the bbc. BIG... BLACK... CRAPPIE!
93 white bass in one spot
Robert Gruben lies
My dad and I caught over 20 bass in a tiny pond downstream from some rapids on a dry summer, in about 30 min. A few 3 pounders, mostly around 1.5 pounds. Crazy fun, amazing memory with my dad.
10:04 flying minno
tyler b i saw it
Lol
4th of July 2004 We caught something like 350-400 Lake Perch in Lake Michigan near New Buffalo. Crappie rigs pulling in 2 at a time as fast as you could get your line down about 30 feet.
64 crappie half submerged trees southern Illinois 3 hours of fishin and two 12 packs
CrappieManMatt hot damn
what lake?
Redneckkid97 you had to have been at crab orchard. Damn good crappie fishing there. Me and a buddy got 123 in 6 hours out there
36 black crappie off of a dock while boats were going past😂
If they taste so good why call them crappies?
well considering how the name pronounced, they always seem to stay together like a crop ripe for the picking. that's what i assume
the actual name of the fish is a Speckled Perch.
shauno2006 What? Lol, no it's not. Some people may call them that, but that's not their "real" name.
Donovan Meersma maybe but here in NC and SC we call em crap_ie
i call em crappie as well but pronounce as croppie
You're making me hungry for some fresh Crappie my man looked so good!
Me and my brother snagged 84 crappie on one spot in a big pond then my brother taught me how to fillet fish that night and said there's your practice
Snagging fish is illegal. At least here in CA
visualkeirockstar well that's ca for you
Why would you keep 84 crappie
FinePrint Gaming Freeze em for future dinners. Back in the day, we'd go out for the weekend and catch hundreds, there was no limit. We'd get some beer and start filleting and zip lock bagging them. They taste just fine even when frozen. Thaw em and fry em.
FinePrint Gaming why wouldnt you keep 84 crappie
Drifting over the same spot on Lake Sakakawea two of us caught 38 Walleye and a couple channel cats in less than an hour. Awesome day of fishing!
LFG with the Mora on his belt
When I was just a kid, my dad and I caught about 35-40 of of an area during the spring spawn off the Mississippi River oxbow Old Mellwood River.
we caught 15 crappie 10 blue cats and 15 channel between three people in one spot check out Truman dam Warsaw Missouri!
sure you did
sorry pimpin, i was just prepping my game for the playa haters ball!
Me and my brother lucked up onto a deeps spot with a tree hanging down covered in mayflies, he pulled out about 120 brim/bluegill/bass on a flyrod and i check in with 65 using crickets. Best day of fishing in a long time.
Does anybody else really want to eat the crappie that he is eating in the video?😬
Jeffery Steadman same bro
No
I could almost smell them MmmmmMmmmmm
why the hell not looks real tasty
Virginia Beach Wiffle League yesssssss
Lake Fork Guy the one you had caught with the black stripe on its back is a black nose crappie. I grew up pretty much only fishing for crappie. Had the opportunity to fish lakes off the mississippi River but only recently discovered the difference to that particular fish.
There is just sumthing about live bait
*something*
@ 0:55
When he said Jackls and lions I thought he was referring to rainbow six siege 😂
Am I the only one who had a problem with the drag being so damn loose?
swordcentral it makes it more fun
swordcentral crappie have extremely thin mouths. With tight drag the fish can rip the hook straight through a lip resulting in a lost, injured fish.
who tf dosnt like the sound of a screaming drag
He's probably fishing with light pound test.. It's wise to set you drag loose.. That sound is like music to my ears!!
Dam just drag it in
One day I was fishing a new spot, wasn't expecting anything big. I got 10 Largies over 3 pounds on the same Bluegill Flash Z-Man Chatter with a keitech trailer. Was the best day bass fishing I've had in a long time. Second to that is 7 smallmouth in under an hour.
I'm gonna try this myself. Looks amazing.
hey man why didn't you show the name of that Russian bait you used? I'm Russian btw and your subscriber, don't be .... and respect other nations. And peace from Europe 😎
30 in a creek that fed a lake near Dallas. Had a tree that leaned over the water and a small deep pool. Drop white and pink jig, little rod shake and Boom! It was a great trip.
Around here in SC we usually fish them with live minnows on a bobber, sinker and small hook, same way most people fish for sunfish, just a different bait, an ultralight rod with 6 pound test line
I've caught 180 crappies at Toledo bend off of one brush pile! Also had two other people with me in my boat fishing the same spot.
The most crappie we've ever caught on a private creek was abit 50 crappie but they werent that size and i was abot 13 .....probably 35 years ago outside of Corvallis Oregon. Filled two five gallon buckets full! Drop your hook...baited or unbaited. And yank seconds later. So much fun.
Crappie has got to be my favorite freshwater fish to catch
Hey guys great video. The Crappie you guys caught with the black line down the nose, the official name for it is Magnolia Crappie It's is a laboratory hybrid from a white and black crappie. Sterile, and great for ponds and lakes.
I filled a 48 quart cooler with crappie one night fishing under a light. There was just enough room in the cooler for a small bag of ice at the end of the night. The fish were all over a pound and a few were in the 2 lb range.
It's always a great day catching slabs! Looks fun guys!
Four boats 3 in a boat, and 1 hour.....117 Walleyes....Mille Lacs Lake, Minnesota...fishing stopped and we did as well. Back when there was no limit! Thanks for the show.....and did those guys ever find out if you used minnows? lol
97 crappie in one day by myself! From shore also. It was so much fun!! My uncle and aunt got over 300 perch in a comp in like 6 hrs
The black line on the top of the fishes head is a rare recessive trait
Great vid keep up the crappie fishing me and my dad go a lot and watching your videos is as close to professional crappie fishing as I've ever seen
One spot that I got on when the lake was up, my partner and I was setting up in the shallows in flooded weeds and the school was moving about in the new waters and we ended up with 125 monster crappie, never moved the boat. Just waited for the school to come back around and the bit was on, we were only in about 3 feet of water and the school would make a wake as they came around.
I didn't go during this time, but have had equal success fishing for crappie in this area. Mid November last year I'm Richland Or. my father and 2 uncle's went fishing Friday midnight to Saturday afternoon right off the bank in the snake river. All the together caught over 2000 crappie possibly even more. my personal experience about 80 miles south of this area me and 2 other friends caught over 1600 crappie over memorial day weekend last year. I know a lot of people are going to shame me for this, for keeping so many fish. But it is fished all year by literally 10s of thousands of people every year and the population has been able to recuperate over the last 25 years. Also that amount of fish is able to feed my family for an entire year. I really hope you and other googans might be able to visit this area in the future and maybe we could get to hang out for a weekend!
Between 70-75 Crappie in one spot in a span of about 3 hours. There’s a channel that connects 2 parts of this lake here in northern MN and we slay them in the spring and summer. Tons of bait fish, can also catch a lot of Walleye there too
I've caught 9 in one spot. it was a privately stocked pond and there were a bunch of people so i couldn't move around to much. but it was pretty good, i was out there for about and hour and a half so the bites were good.
Love your channel bro! Glad to know you are doing well!!! Love the collabs also with Lunkers, Googans and of course Matt the man Demo Ranch! Love supporting my fellow Texans! YEEHAW! Much love brother and keep them coming!!!! Tasty!!!!
LFG nearly falling while calling them cheaters had me thinking “instant karma”
My roommate has a cabin up north here in Wisconsin and we pulled out 4 limits of crappie in about 3 hours off of a few logs in about 4 foot of water all in the same little spot
That looks so much fun catching all them crappie
Three of us caught 131 crappies off of two different brush piles last february. Limit is 50 per person in ks
Well over 75 crappie in one spot. Of course I didnt keep them all. I was using minnows as well. No sooner would I throw my line in the water and I'd get a bite. There were a few times when my bobber went to land on the water and it'd go straight underwater. That was an exciting day fishing!
25 in one spot here good old Florida!!! And Yes they where soooooo good.
Keep up the good work,,,PS and I did not use any electronics ...
The most I've caught was 24 in one area. I was out in Kemah, Tx with family fishing for sheep head and black drum. All nice sized fish
Damn, I love Crappies.
3 of us in a flatbottom on a small lake in the Cascades caught our limit of 15 keeper Rainbows (5 each) from one brush pile, we didn't count the non-keepers, and then we went back the next day and did it again. We smoked 'em all and they were awesome!
I never keep crappie but i think i might fry some up after watching this. Good Video!
Can't wait for crappie season
As far as eating fish, Crappie is my first love. As far as catching fish monster blue catfish are my go to fish...I really like your videos. You seem like some decent down to earth fellas..I will subscribe to your channel and be back to visit again for sure...
Carp thats a load of crappie will make you carp for sure lol gr8 video like always!
Had an hour with my cousin where we caught 45 speckled trout. We were both throwing the exact same bait into a 30 foot circle and hooking up almost every cast.
Crappie are the best, great video. never quite!!!!!
In Wisconsin when the whitebass run. Easily caught over 600+ whitebass in one spot. Also some walleyes, catfish, and sheep head mixed in
60ish keeper crappie in 2 hours, we were culling crappie cause had a 45 keeper limit with 3 men in the boat. It was years ago, we still talk about it "remember that time..."
My grandpa and I used to fish a lake in Kansas city all the time. We'd pull our limit of 60 out of one or 2 spots frequently
Lake Lavon near 2nd bridge caught well over 100 we only kept around 30. We hit the crappie spawn and it was crazy good! Oh, this lake is in Texas :)
In our neck of the woods, the black strip down the top of the head means it's a "Blacknose Crappie" stocked by game and fish folks..
Most crappie snagged in an area between me and another guy was well over 120 down in south Texas at a place called Brazil's point. Every cast you have one on the other end of your line.
42 big slabs crappie off one brush pill in the creek here in south Mississippi
Should have loved to see you cook those as whole fish....it’s so good! Scale um, take the head off, gut it, and go!
Awesome informative Video experience 👏 Y'alls God Bless Ya
Skipjack, exactly 1,000, between 5 ppl. 200 fish each to fill the freezer with bait for a year. It was a long night of vacuum sealing. Started fishing at 6am, finished sealing at 4am.
Pro tip: use a pair of waterproof gloves when flash freezing in Ice/rock salt baths. My skin peeled for 2 weeks after this.
don't know about TX but in VA Charlie Brewer slider jigs work like a charm.
Great video looks like a lot of fun and plenty of action!!!
I've always hooked minnows down the back but not too deep. It stays on pretty well and keeps it alive
How did I miss this one. Live minnows really!
When I was in Canada, I swear we caught 20+ walleye in a single spot within an hour! Pipestone lake just jigging a minnow on a small jighead on a dropoff about 22ft deep
The most fish I've ever pulled from one spot was 27 trout (rainbow, brown and brook) under a bridge on the blue ridge parkway. The daily limit is seven, so I kept swapping out fish in my creel and only kept the seven largest ones. Biggest fish of the day for me weighed almost four pounds. Not bad for an ultralight rod.
Sacalait (sock-a-lay) is the term, not sacaleye! lol! South Louisiana boy here I always laugh when I hear crappie or white perch
The most craooie I ever caught was at Ft Gibson dam(below). Myself and three other compadres caught over a hundred 15 plus size crappies....and thtu about the same number back.....every cast you caught a fish.....incredible......minnows, tube baits, jigs didnt matter....they were voracious.......
you need to try turkey Creek on Grenada lake in Mississippi for crappie around April. No boat needed. They will be in a foot of water right on the bank.
My buddy and I caught over 250 crappie off of jigs with paddle tails. CJ Strike in Idaho has some good fishing.
Honestly... my Dad and I caught almost 200 yellow perch in an evening and never lifted our anchor. When we started having to cut minnows in half we switched to a Mariboo jig and a 1/8 ounce rooster tail. Good times.
I sat in one spot on a small Minnesota lake and caught 120+ crappies, 12 bluegills, and 3 perch! I fished for 2 hours in that one spot
220 red belly bream May 2005. When the willow flies are out on Lake Seminole, you can't keep them out of the boat.
Dudes got more money in fish finding equipment than I do in my turbo foxbody. Jesus Christ lol
That's some good stuff man.
