I'm an alcoholic. I was in Kevin Street college when Paul went missing before an International. It was all over the evening papers "Paul McGrath Missing!" ... and he was drinking in our bar, the junction in Kevin Street .. .at ten in the morning ... drinking a pint, minding his own business and being left to it.. Neither of us knew we had a problem, obviously! 11 years sober. I hope Paul is okay. He beat Italy that day, every ball that went into our half .. bang ... straight back out with his head.
Not a Villa fan or of Irish heritage but I've lived in Brum for nearly my whole life and i know so many Villa fans and they ALL say that Paul McGrath is Villa's greatest ever player..I rest my case..R.I.P Big Jack
"He was such a good player. We needed him. But I do worry about Paul, because like I've said to him many times, people in football will look after you... but the moment you finish playing football, they won't look after you anymore. It's in their interests to look after you. When it's not in their interests, they won't."
I met Paul McGrath in the bar of a Manchester hotel, near the airport. Came across (he was sober) as a nice, humble guy but boy, what a player he was. As for Jack? Man, I wish I could have met him. I just loved to listen to him and I bet he could have regaled you all night with some brilliant stories. RIP Jack.
When Big Jack talked, everybody listened! R.I.P to a great man.
probably the best player i've ever seen in a villa shirt, and most villa fans who seen him play will tell you that, he was pure class
In my opinion the greatest performance by an irish player was Paul McGrath's against Italy in 94

At Villa ask who is God, all will reply Paul McGrath.
I'd take McGrath over every defender in premier league history.
Paul didn't turn up for a game so Jack told him to stand in the dressing room, apologise to the lads he let down & the matter was finished. RIP Jack.
PMc was a terrific utility player, like Jack said, he could play anywhere.

One of the best Irish players ever , one of the best center back s ever , he had everything as a player
A true working class football legend. The man is part of us forever. Football will never be the same. Amen
Jack straight and to the point, direct no messing about. He talked like the way he played and wanted his teams to play.
One of Villa's all time greats.
I love Paul McGrath more than words can express.
World Class, Charlton's opinion on McGrath is valid he would know. RIP.
Jack and Paul heroes of the working class
