Johnny, you're a beast. I love everything you stand for, or at least the parts represented? I'm a finish carpenter and we share love for wood. I'm very seriously considering a geodesic 6v, possibly 9v, to build a home inside, out in the New Mexico region utilizing cooling tubes (as seen in earthship design, shout to Michael Reynolds!). Thank you so much for being an open book, displays of open source are critical to our survival as a species. I subscribed, I posted, I'll keep watching!
Really like the vaulted doors, you should look at adding that onto the 40' dome, maybe add a wee mudroom between like an add-on. Really love the work you do!
Totally! I probably will wait until I get a formal request for something like that since it will be quite a bit of work and I’m not sure how many folks will use it. But I like the idea.
Going back through your latest videos for inspiration. I like the idea of building big ascwith your 40ft diameter but then had to take a screenshot of the three medium sized connected together that has really caught my attention. ❤ size of material looks perfect in the the 3d model 😍
really glad to see someone actually doing this for a business. we have a sawmill lumber business here in eastern Canada. Been studying your work and learning ! thank you for sharing and best of Luck my friend!
thanks for the update that 12’8” 3V sounds closer to what I’ve been looking for to attempt a sweat equity TinyHome. I hope to make it out of reclaimed lumber. so far I prefer your Zome.
I've been researching for years and I'm so glad I tumbled apon your work and I'm so pleased. My grandmothers home in Florida was a dome and it was the first structure that just blew my mind and truly made me excited about a place. Thank you for your work. I wish I could come visit since I live in Portland, OR I've love to talk more about some desine ideas. Wish I had land so I could start building but that will just take time.
Just started getting plans from your site there are a few questions I have but i have to say you and your team do a great job amazing beautiful works of art i hope your business becomes everything you deserve great job my friend
It's copied from Paul Robinson who has been designing and building these domes for far longer than Johnny has been out of grade school. This isn't Johnny's own work.
Hey, i just stumbled on to your work while on Instagram, amazing, really efficient use of wood, like that. I'm fascinated with gothic arches and the way it uses minimal wood for maximum gain and strength, much like domes. Keen to try your method out, appreciate your work, thanks again and just subbed, cheers Mike from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Only just found your domes whilst on Face Book they look absolutely amazing and whilst looking complicated the way they fit together is amazing congratulations Certainly a new follower here 👍👍👍🏴
I've seen longer domes or connected domes but a donut shape is an interesting idea for a center courtyard. Maybe too windy, how about a retractable roof instead?
Does the pony wall compormise the structural integrity of the dome in regards to wind or tornado resistance? How about the other shaped domes like the onion? I live in Branson Missouri and looking at options for expansion and I LOVE your designs and simplicity. You present this as a tangible project for a chick like me. It's economical and straight forward. I love your door entry ways that can connect future domes. Love what you are doing!!! Makes my soul vibrate with JOY!
Hello! Glad you’re feeling inspired 💪 no the pony wall doesn’t compromise anything. It’s still a round structure that’s very aerodynamic, think of grain silos! The zomes are also very wind hardy!
Just discovered you yesterday, and I'm thinking about building a cabin on some land I bought a few years ago. I'd like something fairly large but still modular. A 4v vaulted doorway/connecting tunnel plan would be sweet
Hey guys, I’m enjoying your domes. Simplicity, the organic shape, opportunity to pre-build so much of it, It’s all interesting. Pre building means we could potter away making parts over the winter and then assemble it when we feel ready. I have some questions too. - I’m interested in only putting transparent sheets into the south facing side. Do you have or know any good examples. It would be interesting to get some sense of what that looks and feels like. - We live at about 54° north and want to maximise the sun in the winter and just reduce it slightly in the summer. Any idea about how much to close in ? - what technique might you use to close in a pannel while keeping the wonderful pre build dynamic. I’m guessing just use a membrane of some description instead of the plastic but possibly you have another trick. - How do you join or seal the panels so no water comes through. I heard you mention calking but I’m curious if you have additional tricks. Thanks for your material. Your plans are really reasonably priced too which I appreciate. Keep hanging fun.
I want to build a house in the Philippines (low cost, tryphoon proof and cool looking) what kind of material should I use? aircrete blocks or have a wooden structure first and close the triangles with weatherproof materials?
Would it be beneficial or worth it to put a layer of plastic on the outside as normal and another on the inside to create an air gap? I love the designs and the videos are very well made and explained
Could the geodesic be adapted into a celtic knot shape? Triadic type?idk if you could do that without a hub although the clover type is pretty close Appreciate your transpaeency Thanks for taking us along Your zomes re,ind me of spirograph I'm just waiting to get me mits on a trenching mitre to make these hopefully a future prospect. Maybe they will be used on Mars someday. Peace ✌️ ❤ Scotland ❤
If done properly they will last indefinitely. I prefer wood to aluminum. Framing lumber is fine, like hemlock or fir but you can use all types of wood.
What do you mean by frequency dome I know It's a simple Google search way but I have no clue where to start looking what to start looking up to understand and I'd love just a gist before I dive into this Rabbit hole
Basically the frequency is just the amount of times the base geometry is divided. Higher frequency = more complicated dome with more, smaller panels, rounded.
Hope to see a 52 foot wide dome plan sometime in the future

@@trilliumdomes will certainly do that thank you… and look forward to any manufacturing and build videos too ,, Great work 👍👍🙏🏴
I’d love to see a build of one of the 30’. These are so beautiful. I can’t wait to make one someday soon(ish).
Check our the "your builds" oage on our website. There have been a few 30' builds from our plans!

Thanks man. We are going to get your 20' plan. We love what you are doing. Peace!
Love to hear it! Let me know if you have any questions along the way :)
@@trilliumdomes Oh yeah! We will talk, everyone needs one!!!!
Just made a friend who is following you and will be building a house next year, in Nakusp!
No way that’s awesome! I’d love to come visit!
Can you make an oval dome? Like 80 feet long? Or a donut dome with a garden in the center
I've seen longer domes or connected domes but a donut shape is an interesting idea for a center courtyard. Maybe too windy, how about a retractable roof instead?
Waiting for you're sauna video, did I miss it?
Just found the channel and love it! I'd love to see more about how to turn these into homes in regards to insulation, roofing, etc.
Very cool.
Excellent 💪

@@trilliumdomes The project is still a few months/a year out, but that would be awesome!
I am so excited to try to build one. I want to make a outside bathhouse. . What about heating these and AC ? I live in MN extreme weather
Super cool

I live in Williams. I would love to meet up with you. I’m ready to build two of these
Shoot me an email through my contact form!
I would love to see plans for bigger domes - 40, 50 or 60 ft.
I’ve got plans for a 40’
How would you go about making a Mandelbrot shaped fractal dome home?
Hey can you stretch a dome? I guess it wouldn’t be a dome any longer? Was curious…

Yea I was wondering too. Trillium flowers are the leed in for some mushrooms here in the Columbia Gorge.
Hi Jhonny , how much these woode domes last? are alimunimum domes better than wood ? also what type of wood you recommend ?
If done properly they will last indefinitely. I prefer wood to aluminum. Framing lumber is fine, like hemlock or fir but you can use all types of wood.

Haha after watching this video I think I might need to adjust my posture a little bit >
How are the panels water proofed on the exterior?
Depends on the material you use but I have some
Info on that on my website faq
Where do I get the plans at? For the 40 foo

Can you join two different sized domes?
Yes it would just take some design work
Maybe I'm stupid but aren't the more frequency there are the more panels you need
that's correct.
👍🏿

What's this frequency talk you speak of ....?????
Would like to contact you for further inquiries
