Yeah but just think if lebron keep Wiggins he was so excited to play with bron bron would have more chips if he kept his young talent like the Lakers team Bron Ingram Randle Kuzma An center they traded to clippers
When I was a little kid the class of '92 was supposed to be a no miss in the first round "GREATEST DRAFT EVER" so my Grandpa and I collected the cards. Shaq was of course an alltime great. Mourning was good but had health issues. Robert Horry who was picked late had a great career. But Laetner, Baby Barkley Witherspoon, Tom Gugliotta, Baby Jordan Harold Miner, LaPhonso Ellis, Todd Day, etc etc etc. Just one mediocre career after anouther for like 30 picks
This draft potential wise was so deep like you couldn’t go wrong like potential wise getting a player like Lavine you were satisfied that’s how good potential wise this draft was
It is funny that teams were tanking for this draft when any team, no matter the position on the draft could have chosen Nikola Jokić, as well as Spencer Dinwiddie, Bogdan Bogdanović, Jeremy Grant etc.
I would say for a normal draft, most teams would be thrilled to have a Smart style player at the 6th pick. But as you said, for a draft as hyped as that, he is not a generational player.
0:33 04 draft class had 5 different all stars 1 hall of famer 3x consecutive dpoy a 6th man of the year and a 1st team all defensive player and a finals mvp
How many draft prospects have actually transformed the NBA in recent years? Luka is the only one I could think of as a complete player from the moment he entered the league. Tanking for picks appears incredibly overvalued when you consider that you don't have any guarantees that the player will develop into the potential everyone expects of them. Then there's the chance of injuries hampering production. A lot of players only grow into their own after they end up leaving the team that drafted them in the first place. So all tanking guarantees is that you've built a losing team with low morale and no experience in winning.
I 100% agree with this statement and have preached this over and over on my other channel. Tanking is a losers mentality that is never guaranteed, especially in a lottery system
@@And.One.Hoops1 tanking works to some extent, cause the alternative is the orlando magic route of you are just mid for five years, or the bulls idea of burn it all, trade for a bunch of vets on limited assets, and then go forward, which worked wonders for the bulls.
I will say this draft is a gem of a class even though most of the higher pick didn't panned out .considering u have multiple mvp player coming out like jokic giannis and two time mvp runner up embid
@@And.One.Hoops1 I beg to differ, if you look at this draft in ten years time when all these players have retired. You have lebron, melo, Chris Bosh , Dwayne wade locked in hof and two to three borderline case. @@choosiseng8651 Giannis wasn't drafted in 2014. Jokic is a lock and likely Embiid. Outside of that, I can guarantee you none of those other guys will be HOFers
@@And.One.Hoops1 my bad I forgot Gianni's is 2013 class. With regards to Wiggin and lavine I see Wiggin as a James worthy type Hof being the third option but a very impt one. Thus I believe after a few try he will get in I agree that lavine is a longer reach. But if he maintain his current stats of multiple 20+ point season and get into the 20k point achiever he might have a chance. Granted NBA player now have longer playing career thus I have a gut feeling he will get in as well.
Just one thing: All-star selection doesn't mean jack shit, many great players get snubbed year after year, so people should stop glorifying it so much..
I'm not gonna let you shit on Dario Saric he actually was good for Philly they traded him in hopes to get a good return and where he was traded too it didn't fit him. He was actually solid. Not great but SOLID
You said it yourself And One Hoops this draft class simply wasn't good at all. Wiggins being the number one pick, I remember watching his dad play and watching him play at Kansas I said to myself, hopefully next year's class has to be better than this one, I remember watching Marcus Smart at Oklahoma state, shaking my head and asking why'd he come back for that junior season. He lost himself so much money, not that he'd be worth what he would have gotten. Lebron called that one totally correct

Over hype. I did not really like that many prospects at the time. Basically Zach. Nikola at DEN came out of nowhere. Looked more into 2nd round prospects after that. Also, I though the Bulls were OK when DEN drafted McDermott because I thought GarPax would draft him. They floored me when they traded for mcBuckets anyway. The downfall of the Bulls recently is related to this draft. If you move up to #11 just take Zach. He could have been in Chi the whole time. If not take Gary Harris and Jeremi Grant with the two picks they had which is what I asked for but did not get.
I swear every year they say somebody the next greatest prospect since lebron 🙄

Reminds me of all the "next MJs" back in the 90s. Stackhouse, Harold Miner, Isaiah Rider. Seems like one decent athletic SG got that label each year.

As I’m watching this Wiggins is carrying me in fantasy with 6 three pointers made 31 points and 3 steals 😂
It turned out to be fantastic for the Denver Nuggets when we got Jocic who is a 2 time MVP and a hell of a player.

I'm going to argue Wiggins' development was stunted by being on a dysfunctional Wolves team in his early years.
That's a good point. What if he had gone to a different team? 🤷
I would say for a normal draft, most teams would be thrilled to have a Smart style player at the 6th pick. But as you said, for a draft as hyped as that, he is not a generational player.
Love the new channel! This draft definitely produced some dunkers though 😂
Appreciate it brother 🙏
yeah not everyone panned out but looking back there’s a lot of really solid players who came out of this one, especially compared to 2013 and 2015
Sure, but those classes were always seen as weaker drafts
I think Giannis is worth more than the rest of his draft class combined. At the very worst more than the top 5 players.

And then the Nuggets don't even tank and they draft Jokić in the second round. Ouch
There was an all time great in this draft, he just wasn’t taken till 41st
You know this draft class did have 2 mvps.
Keep the vids comin, they're great!
Somehow, I half agreed with this video, Jokic and Embiid are superstars. Either one of these guys will be in the running for MVPs every year.
Zach LaVine really looked like a frat boy back then 😂
😂😂 right??
The money of 2014 draft, are in the second round
I cant believe Jerami Grant wasnt even mentioned. 2 picks before jokic and in my opinion 3rd best player of the class this season.
What is the problem with Julius Randle? Lack of focus or interest?
Great new Video I'm liking this new content 2014 NBA draft a big disappointment for the most part
