ros Genuinely people like you could save lives. I have a friend like you who just knew. She saved me by helping me and bringing me to reality, and it was only a year into my disorder. She helped me before my disorder got to hospilization and before I had to bring my parents into it. I will be forever grateful to her.

How many calories are there in an apple too? I can't think it's a lot and must be zero fat. It would be terrible to hardly eat at all. Your body needs all the proper nutrition for healthy skin, bones, etc. Notice too that in S2E9 she does eat the apple after reading Adam's letter.

It’s a lot of bloated people shitting their pants but I suppose that’s a bit unreasonable to expect them to get it right since make up can only do so much. I worked with a young woman in 2004 (long before this show ever existed) who used these "tricks". Her shoulder bones stuck out of her skin so much they looked sharp as knives and she had the whole lollypop head thing going on because she was so sick. She thought she was fooling everyone by shoving food around on her plate and covering it with napkins at the end of the meal. We all noticed, we just didn't say anything because it's work and at work you don't ask people about their personal problems.

    • @molepole1998

Koolaid Man I thought I was fooling people at work too until we were messing around in the crew room and I don't know how we got into that topic but one of my colleagues said ”You’re dangerously thin” in a joking way to which another colleague responded ”that’s a bit over the line, she might have anorexia, you don't know, I've never seen her eat” I was kinda shocked and didn't really know what to say. I order food on my employee meal so people don't get suspicious. Because who turns down free McDonald's, right?! But most of it goes into the bin...thing is, didn't think anyone saw, guess they did

No it's not. Most of them probably just wanted to see if the other person would fall for it. Its a test. A prank. Most people don't have the will power it takes to actually not eat because their survival instincts kick in and practically force them to. That's why it's called a disease when someone doesn't eat.

yep Sid is designed to look like he's overslept, just picked a t-shirt of his bedroom floor and flung it on. He usually wears a t-shirt, sometimes a hoody and a backpack. Tony's designed almost the opposite, his clothes always look immaculate in season 1, never a trace of dirt or a crease. He wears chinos, shirts, polo tops and jumpers or cardigans normally, dresses more adult. Cassie's look in season 1 was usually very bright and summer like, she wore lots of white and yellow I remember. It was quite a feminine look too, she used to wear a dress a lot rather than jeans, it all looked quite vintage.

It doesn't matter how long she was hospitalized, if she was hospitalized, or almost dying or anything like that. PLEASE do not focus on that it is triggering and unhelpful. Focus on her mental state, not her physical state including her weight. It does not matter if someone is hospitalized or how bad their physical state is. Eating disorders are a mental disorder, not a weight disorder. Focusing on weight so much to indicate "how sick" someone is only makes the disordered person want to get "sicker" even more so they can feel valid, loved, and cared about.
*Please* show your daughter that you love her and view her eating disorder as just as serious and valid no matter what weight she is at.

I loved Skins, it showed mental health stuff, drugs and all teens can go through and didn't make me feel bad in the process (like yes, bad for the characters sometimes, but it never triggered me), 13rw gave me a panic attack and made me anxious/more depressed while this made me feel understood.

I stopped watching after season one for mental health reasons but Cassie's whole arc in that season oddly really hit home even though I've never even suffered from anorexia, only anxiety/OCD/depression. But mental illness can look so different from person to person and what we're triggered by also varies so much, and I'm so glad you found something that made you feel understood!! I hope you know I didn't comment to downplay your mental illness because you weren't triggered but to express that I found it interesting how different everyone's experience is. I'm rooting for your recovery

It can work both ways. Awareness means showing people without mental illnesses the reality, to educate them. However, people WITH said mental illness or people prone to it can be triggered by watching it. It does good and bad equally, for me personally it’s triggering when it comes to Cassie and Effy, but is nonetheless entertaining.

You're invalidating their experiences of having eating disorders. What? All because other countries don't have the same luxury, the access that people in other countries have? The Snowflake Diaries it’s a r.e.m reference from the song, it’s about a guy who beat up dan rathers while shouting the sentence over and over again cuz he tought CBNews was sending signals in his head. So whenever a cat fell of the roof and killed an old lady they shout it, or whenever they didn’t understand a homework question people would shout it. It’s all confusing but once you understand it it’s hilarious. I died at that line 💀

I wish people would understand that being like Cassie or Effy isn’t ‘fun’ and ‘quirky’ it’s hell being trapped in your own head
