Look at 02:15 ... you removed a resistance with the soldering iron and finished without putting back ....
Yeah, it reappears at 2:18. It gets stuck to the other pads of the connector. He then brushes it away. Looks mighty sloppy work to me.
@@terrysouthwood4757 i agree , too much steps , while only desoldering with hot air , cleaning with wick + soldering iron , tinning pads and soldering everything without hot-air is needed
That was not needed and another Apple's mischief, so it had to be removed to reduce weight and electricity consumption, in addition to other you don't know what, benefits! 👺

Did notice with that blob of solder paste they took off a resistor on the left side of the hdmi and never puts it back. This is not how to do this professionally.

One mistake you did which one smd capacitor unsolder then you don't put it back on the place in the end of this video...of course it make your doing not professional. But personally, I'm glad seeing your this video. Because I'm always Learning from the people mistakes to make us be a successman or a professional man like what "Jack Ma" said about how to be success. I've never done this but I've watched a few people showing it being done and this is by far the sloppiest I've seen. Looks like you melted everything around that port too. Most people I've seen cover everything but the parts you intend to heat. There's visible burning on some parts you never needed to touch. If they will affect the functioning of the board or not I have no idea but I wouldn't be following this video after seeing people taking more care

So when I stick that much flux on there like that and use my hot air gun,even with the precision hot air gun tip attachment, it still goes everywhere on my board,is that ok,or you got some magic trick there,lol, preventing it from going all over the place?

I have been learning how to do this repair for two weeks. there is no way this is the complete video. you left out so much. i mean where was the low melt solder and why was no pen checked. if this image shows after this repair. bless you !!!
Right, that's what I'm thinking on all these magical quick desoldering hdmi port videos, they make it look so much easier than what it really is. I've been doing these for about a year now, finally have gotten all the pro tools to do it right, and still it don't ever look that easy. I acually have been struggling with this one hdmi port on a xbox series S that's been taking me dang near a week, granted ive been giving up then coming back to it, but still ive tried for about an hour each day and have gotten so frustrated with it. Got a better flux and think that's going to be my solution for desoldering it better

It can, yes. Really depends on how well you are with the heat gun, I’d recommend you to cover up the closer surroundings. Pretty sure you’ve already figured it out since it’s been a min from when you made this comment but I’m just throwing it out there in case you haven’t already lol.

I think that in "how to" video you should actually say what you are doing... what are you putting on, why, etc. Not just show that you put on some liquid xD

so he just gonna accidently remove a resister from the side there and do nothing and mention nothing about it, what was that resistor for, was it important, does it keep the signal steady is it just a redundancy? Please help me understand why you left that resistor off and said nothing about it.
On this video, it looks very easy, and therefore very frustrating to watch, because for me removing a part is always a huge pain in the butt. What are the REAL tricks of the trade!?
0m00: What's the temp/airflow setting for the heat gun? Why, with my heat gun I need to use at least 450C to melt any solder at all, let alone melt ALL the solder at the same time? (yes, I validated the temperature with a thermocouple)

2m30: With my solder wick, only the top part of the solder gets sucked out of the holes. The lower part always stays solid. The holes never open without a flight. How to remove all the solder?
My iron (a Weller) is at 360C.
Yes, I use flux, a lot of it.
I use 99,9% isopropanol for cleaning.
what temperature in the heat gun?
250c should do the trick or low air setting

This is not professional soldering. He didn't even notice that he had accidentally unsoldered the SMD capacitor on the left side. So the device will not work properly

@@crispylimbs It is a soldering paste. When you apply heat it solders the parts.
The title does not match the work at all. Solder paste for days and maybe this person loves to wave the iron tip on things that have no involvement on the repair as well. I lost my breath laughing when the random SMD resistor came out of nowhere... it was because he couldn't see through that awful mess of flux and shit paste. I guarantee you this was not a repair but practice. LOL. Awful. Professional? yea, right.
totally wrong way to replace the port..no need of that much heat from heat gun cause you will burn and melt the internal plastic..just remove the faulty port with heat gun clear the holes with wick place a new port and use a mild soldering iron
