I've been taking this Xduoo with me for when I'm away from home overnight. I'm getting great sound with Dan Clark Audio Æon 2 Noire headphones via skyaudiocables 4.4mm. Potential buyers should be aware that there is some hiss with some balanced armature IEMs
The Sparkos SS3602 Discrete Op-Amps and the AKM AK4499EX both elevate the performance of the XD-05 PRO to surpass anything up to the $1500 threshold. it is levels above the stock ESS and op-amp modules. Xduoo are working on a R2R DAC board for the XD-05 Pro for launch is Q4 2024.
I personally prefer XD05 Pro with the SS3602 and ESS dac. But I do agree. Truly next level stuff 😁
Fantastic! Fyi the sparkos opamps many people know and love do fit in this unit. I hear it's a tight fit, but the lid closes. As an audiophile you probably don't care but it also supports bluetooth and ldac. In theory cirrus logic and r2r dac boards are in the making.

Recently I bought a second hand Xduoo XD05 Plus that is smaller one, less features and also customazible.
I quite happy with it, I had a Chord Mojo before but the XDo5 Plus connections are more robust and more convenient and, I think that, as an amp, it pefomorms better than my old Mojo.
Wow! This is another great review. Since this is about the size of the HUGO 2, which one would you get? I will take it around and use it mostly for Headphones, LCD-5, MM-500, Focal Stellia, Clear MG pro, Arya Organic, DT1990, 1770's. I try to get the most accurate sound for mixing and mastering. I want to hear all the details from Mic, mic placement, EQ, Reverbs, depth etc Sounds like this might be the one?

Yea this thing is bonkers. Bought it for travel / office but ended up on my main system most of the time, replacing the venerable D70s. Even the amp section with stock opamps I prefer it more than Soloist 3XP with V6 opamps.
Will try the Sparkos and can't wait for the R2R card!

Please forgive my ignorance. I nearly 70 and trying to find my way in a digital word. With reference to this product and the chord mojo do you need to connect a separate streamer and if so what streamer do you use to test the different dacs. Thank you for a very informative channel. Keep well
Thank you very much for de great review. Taking into account that 5V is the voltage that is used by the vast majority of dacs and streamers, I think you should buy the LPS SBooster MKII, when possible, as it is not exorbitantly priced and is a good upgrade compared to the iPower X and the Allo Shanti.

@@radissimo1 In my country iPower X costs 110 € and SBooster costs 335 €. In many systems changing the LPS has much more impact on the sound than changing a DAC. For me, the SBooster is well worth the money it costs. In any case, I was suggesting the purchase of the SBooster to someone who has a UA-cam channel with reviews of DACs and Streamers, which will allow him to test these equipment more efficiently, making it easier to understand their limits.
dac or head out is the same port right for mojo 2. can i benefit if i connect it to speakers with an aux to rca cable?
How does this compare with the rose technics rt 5000? It would be awesome if you were to make a tier list of various product categories. Crinacle had a great rubrik for creating a tier list. Thanks for the great reviews!

is it worth the 300 extra bucks at least in my country compared to the dx5 or 200 bucks compared to the mojo 2?

Completely understand you can only draw so many comparisons but, if you've ever happened to hook your Chord Mojo2 (DAC only) up to your Aune S17 Pro, I'd be grateful for any comments of the resulting clarity, tone/texture and spaciousness. I have the Mojo2 doing double duty (DAC and preamp), feeding active speakers, but I've been eyeing the S17 Pro as a potential preamp. Thanks for all your great content!

For some reason I was sure they wouldn't fit under the lid... But if they do that's great. They lifted any device I tried them in to the next level.
@@iiWiReviews I use the SS3602 with no problem. You can use a riser to help fit them or cut of the little solder points on the corner of the Op-amps on the bottom and they fit perfectly. Overall, it makes the XD-05 portable endgame and an extremely good desktop alternative. Everything good about the sound just gets improved a level. Soundstage, depth, imaging, detail, dynamics, bass texturing, treble extension all improves while sounding more musical and realistic, very good upgrade and one I rec to everyone that owns the XD05 Pro 😊

21:47 can i ask what dc to usb adapter you used to connect your ifi ipower x to the XD05 Pro? I cant find one that's rated for 12 volt
I used the one supplied with iPower X for 5V...it works just fine.
@iiWiReviews ah, okay, another reviewer (wave theory) said it needs to be 12 volt, and he uses a DC to USB adapter from a brand called yeworth. However, when I checked, it's also rated for 5 volt. Thanks, I will just use the stock adaptor supplied by ifi ipower x
