  • Remember this little technique from elementary school? I'm sure you hated it then, but now you can handle it! It's actually a remarkably elegant technique, and we can even use it to get quotients with tons of decimal places, so it's particularly effective as well. Refresh your memory or learn it for the first time! It's tons of fun.

    a) how many times can 3 fit into 6? 2 times, write down 2. subtract 6 from 6, 0 is left.
    625:3=2

    a) how many times does 8 go into 2? it doesnt. how many times does 8 go into 24? 3 times. write down 3, subtract 24.

    -----
    0
    b) bring down 6. how many times does 8 go into 6? it doesnt, write down 0, subtract 0. (you can also just bring the next number down)
    246:8=30
    - 24
    -----
    06
    0
    --------
    6
    c) because there is no more numbers to bring down, write a coma after 30 and bring down an imaginary 0. how many times does 8 go into 60? 7 times. write down 7, subtract 56.
    246:8=30.7

    06

    60

    Dear proffessor dave,
    Hi my name is Harriett
Here are some fun facts about me, I have two sisters. One of my sister is younger than me and the other is older by two years. I do dance on tuesday, wednesday, thursday and saturday.
At school I enjoy sport and art because when i’m in my sport lesson i have a lot o fun playing the games and doing the exercises, I like when it’s someone’s birthday and they bring in food for me to eat, I also like having fun with our class. But it’s also important to get work done, I think it’s important to have a good relationship with my teacher. My favorite food is chicken sandwich it’s amazing. I’m really bad at maths so I want to learn more maths because i’m SO bad.
My favourite animal is a dog, I have a dog his name is romeo he is turning six this year.
I like to play fortnite it’s the best game in the whole wide world and lastly i’m a year six
That’s a little bit about me, thanks for listening

Learned no math in school, at all and no teachers even made an effort. Now I'm learning to get my GED and go into machining, welding and carpentry to try and make something of myself but whew this is throwing me for a loop, Think I'm finally getting it though, I got a little confused on 6/85 but turns out you just do 6/8 to get 1 on top then 6x1 and drop that 6, 6-8 you get 2 and drop the 5, 6 goes into 25 4 times (24) so a 4 goes at the top, 25-24 is 1 giving the r1.

I believe that the answer given by proff is incorrect:
correct answer is 145 rem 4
      9|1309
      13
      40
      49

When we do 125 divided by 6 1st we divide by 2 then 5 comes down then instead of adding decimal point and zero after 5 to make it 50, why do we 1st divide it by 0 then adding decimal pt
I didn't get why after dividing by 2 dividing by 0
