In the video I stated that there was no power brick included and this was incorrect. It was covered by a bit of paper that was adhered such that I didn't question it. I have edited out those portions, but still the error was mine and I regret having made it. My apologies.
I must say I have this and the onn 4k Pro. I don't know what they did to optimize this but it's the smoothest Google TV experience. I get random lag on the onn 4k Pro while the Streamer hasn't skipped a beat, and I've tried by pressing the star button, clicking home and opening apps then hitting home again, scrolling thru the home page and it's been fantastic.
That insufficient power supply sound is the same sound the pixel buds pro 2 case makes when it has a low battery. I like that they are making all of their device sounds match. The new Google home sounds on nest speakers also matched that sound theme.
I have the 2019 Shield and to me it's the best. This Google device seems nice though, for a standard TV not attached to a stereo system. Thanks for the review Shane.
Hey Shane...another great video. On another note: there's a way to view three screens on the Fold 9. I haven't tried it on the Fold. Just thought I'd let you know.
Great video bro I did have one question so you can install any application from the Play Store? So prime example let's say I wanted to install brave browser and then I wanted to connect up a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard then install something like a Microsoft Office and Google Docs can I use all of those applications and peripheral accessories from the new Google TV box? Keep up the great work bro I look forward to your reply and have a good one.
It likely has a limited play store like I have on my Google Chromecast. There is a browser that blocks ads but Brave browser is nowhere to be found. The one that blocks ads has a 🚫 on it. It even has a remote app for your phone. It works really well to allow you to watch videos on UA-cam without ads or I use it to watch 123movies where you can with a little bit of effort(just have to make sure you use the right one and use the top right search instead of the main search). There are a lot more apps available than Roku that give you more freedom but not as many as you might want.
Best review so far, thanks Shane! Just the way I would start with it myself :) Question; what do you think about the picture quality of this nice little thing? It do have HDR10/4k, and my old streaming stuff doesn't have that. After getting a zidoo player (for my own 50-60gb mkv files) I realized that my 3000$ tv have been fed ... well ... shit, basically xD so what do you think it do to whatever you stream?
My TV isn't super high end, so I can't say for sure what a TV of that caliber would do, but it should be technically fine because of what it has - HDR10/Dolby, etc.
Don't judge the fidelity of any of this based on how it looks run through a capture card and then upload it to UA-cam. A lot gets lost in those translations. On a TV it all looks very sharp and crisp to me.
@@shanecraigtech Completely understand. Your videos are top notch. I bought this streamer day one when it dropped at the Google Store in Chelsea, NYC. The content/videos are fine but the 1080p scaled interface is a blurry mess compared to say the Apple TV or PS5. My wife noticed it immediately as well. We need Google to upgrade their UI elements to 4K opposed to 1080p scaled up. BTW As always, your reviews are extremely informative.
It would definitely be nice to see them go with something a little bit better, but most people are probably never going to notice. It's going to be able to stream the shows just fine regardless. There are a few people that would have benefited from higher speeds though.
@scaryifliteral very odd. The tech specs specifically lists the power adapter and power cable as being included in the box. I just watched another unboxing of the device and the power adapter was included.
@@MSE-X @JAW3Tube Yep. Major mistake by me. The paper covering it was glued down enough that I didn't think it was meant to come up. I'm going to try to edit those bits out of the video.
@@shanecraigtech Thanks. No problem. It happens. Google hid it well, and given the shrinkflation that's the rage in consumer electronics, we almost expect the bare minimum components not to be included anymore.
Thank you very much for this great video. I am planning to buy one of the new TCL tv lines. Will I have the same experience with Android tv such as with this streamer?
Virtually all Android TVs devices have essentially the same user interface. Performance and features like the remote finder will obviously be different as well as some other obvious features.

💯
I have the $20 Onn streamer and it has zero lag to my eye. Fast and efficient. Best $20 I ever spent.

I love that it supports Thread and Matter Smart home devices 👌👍
how is the picture quality for movies?
does it upscale HD content to 4k well?

I like the google home option ..I use it in my whole house

U talking about ONN Google Box ...by Spring 2025 gonna come up with NEW model & i heard is gonna be a kick ass powerful model
Thanks for answering my question. Multiple headphones - that's what AuraCast should bring and would change the game.
Great educational video brother
Awesome video i wish it had an extra port, but other then that seems like a nice upgrade to my chromecast 4k. I do have onn pro and onn 4k box 1st gen
if I purchase the Google TV Streamer (4K) from the US, will it work in India? Because this device is not avilable official in india.

The store on the thing is limited, but you can sideload things. To what degree they'll function is up in the air.
@scaryifliteral okay so it is possible but there may be some limitations good to know thank you bro I appreciate it

When I see this video in 4k it looks pretty darn sharp and smooth too me also, and I'm picky...
No WIFI6 is BS, what was Google thinking? We have WIFI7 out now.

I hate having to do a "farmware" erpdert.
Can you explain why Google matter is not local??!! Why buy this device if it's not local? I rather just use a Chromecast and go with Apple TV 4K...
According to the product page, a power adapter should be included.
They must be referring to the cable, because there is no brick included.

Old processor from 2021 and at the price Hdmi cable should be included 😢
