Don't Look Up is good, but maybe isn't a great choice for New Year's Eve when you're already anxious about what 2022 might bring 😓 I wouldn't recommend it for anyone already depressed about the state of the world, particularly the U.S. It honestly made my depression worse, it wasn't like Bo Burnham's Inside, which felt more... cathartic? Don't Look Up is more of a reflection than anything else.
CANNOT WAIT to see Nightmare Alley when it finally opens in the U.K., it looks incredible! Thank you for all the great content this year Sarah, I always enjoy seeing a new video of yours has been uploaded whenever I open UA-cam and Hope you have a fabulous new year!
But I’m a cheerleader is so good! So glad you saw it. One of my favorite movies I saw in December or really in the whole year is Cure (1997), Japanese horror, kinda slow burn, really beautiful cinematography. Highly recommend! P.S.: I hope you all saw after credits scenes in Don’t Look Up 👀
Super glad to see The Vigil on here, Jewish horror is an untapped gold mine but often it's done in a cheesy or in a terribly appropriative way and it was such a refreshing change of pace.
Also Catholicism has been overused in horror. I read a explanation saying that it's more in touch with horror storytelling but the overuse of it is annoying
Also didn't really like We Need To Do Something! It kinda reminded me of Await Further Instructions, but I liked AFI better! Love that you loved The Vigil. I watched this for the first time this week too and it was amazing! Happy New Year!
I feel like I need to watch your videos with pen and paper to write down all your recomendations, lol. I'm intrigued by the Isabelle Fuhrman movie. I love her in everything I've ever seen of her and if you say this is her best acting to date, now I know i GOTTA watch.
I watched Klaus for the first time a couple weeks ago on a whim, not at all expecting to love it as much as I did! And ever since I watched it I feel like I've seen so many other people discovering it for the first time this year, too! It's been added to our yearly rewatch list
Funny enough I watched But I’m a cheerleader today and loved it! Lol I like The Orphanage and The Devils Backbone another Guillermo Del Toro film. Thank you for all the horror content this year Sarah! Happy New Year Sarah Have been watching you for years now and cannot wait to see wait 2022 will bring for this channel!
Nightmare Alley was a completey satisfying film in the Depression-era drama genre. It had a few nods to "Freaks" and also reminded me of "Carnivale" but it was better than both in a way because it was so grounded in the hard and heartless lifestyle of old school carnies. I haven't been so intrigued by a story of self-destructive behavior since "The Lighthouse".
SO glad you watched and liked “The Vigil.” I recommended it in comments a couple months ago. I really enjoyed it! Also, yes, Home Alone 2 is better than the first one. I watch it every December and rarely watch the original. 🤷🏼♂️
I love these recap videos! I watched We Need to do Something as well, because I loved the red and black imagery, and I didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly like it either. I was able to guess some things that were going to happen, and I didn't enjoy the ending. I prefer endings with a clear explanation, and this one ended on a cliffhanger. I also really did not like how it portrayed the only POC- that was very untasteful IMO. I added a handful of movies in this video to my watch list! :) Looking forward to watching Nightmare Valley and The Vigil the most.
When I was in middle school me and my friend decided to try out cheerleading, one weekend we went to blockbuster to pick out a movie and my mom not knowing what it was about suggested but I’m a cheerleader….safe to say we our jaws were on the floor for most of the movie 😅I’d probably appreciate it more now
I really love the orphanage and thought you would really like it too. I'm surprised you didn't like it, oh well. I'm excited to look up your recommendations and see if there is anything I love.
As much as I love me some Horror, I gotta say my favorite Christmas Carol themed movie is The Flintstones A Bedrock Christmas Carol. I grew up watching it every year and it just feels warm and cozy. Recommend.
Great list, thanks for sharing! I loved The Vigil.....also looking forward to Nightmare Alley. I will definitely check out The Novice! I really enjoy your videos, keep up the great work. Happy New Year, be well 👏🏻👍😀
Good luck with your surgery! I don’t think it’s going to be as bad as you think. My bf had all his teeth pulled (while awake) and had bone grafts and implants put in later on and his recovery was pretty quick. Didn’t need pain meds for any of it or anything.
come true! it must be weird because i'm a complete stranger to you but i freakin knew you were gonna enjoy it!! my husband is a pisces as well & i sat him down the day after i watched it to show him & wrote you a message 😂😂😂 i watched it completely alone & 🍃😶🌫️ & was sucked right into the vibe. i'm so so glad you loved it! also girl interrupted is one of the best movies of all time - it has an eat in chicken
Thank you for your videos, thoughts, and time. You're the only channel I'm watching on youtube right now. A comforting presence, and someone I would be friends with in real life. And the best movie suggestions ever! Sometimes we don't agree, but usually we do. Movies are so subjective after all. Anyway, thank you!
The Orphanage- The first time I saw it with the knocking on the wall scene, I bought came out of my seat. But yes, I guess it is suspense drama more than horror.
Hello everyone, good 👍 morning, Happy New Year 2022.🥂🎉 This woman-youtuber has a great diction, I like to listen to her voice! Greetings from Sonora, México. 🇲🇽👍☺️🙏
I also really enjoyed Come True, but feel the opposite-like I couldn’t do a rewatch because for me the fun was trying to figure out what was going on, and without that element of titillation I’m not sure I could enjoy it again. I feel similarly about Ex Machina
The Vigil came out back in 2019, I believe, and holy crap is it so damn good and has not gotten the attention it deserves. The atmosphere is excellent and it was honestly thrilling to see Judaism as a source of the main myth and the source of the strength the character takes with him into 'battle'. The ending was also *chef kiss*.
I couldn’t find the review for the Turning but I wanted to ask you to watch the old version with Deborah Kerr the Innocents. Idk if you’ll like but hope you do.
Dude have you seen incident in a ghost land yet???? Highly recommend it’s on Netflix!!! Same director that did Martyrs…. It’s definitely LESS intense but still soo good.
@@RedSpade37 it feels wrong to say but I didn’t feel much at all. I can say it’s a good movie, well crafted, fun songs, a lot of style and own identity etc. but I wasn’t really captivated or moved by any of it
@@xenopuslaevis1740 I feel it! I personally love it, but I think it's more for the music. A bad movie can have good music and I will keep coming back. Same thing with video games for me. But yeah, I personally have major nostalgia glasses for Nightmare. I need to rewatch it and see what I think these days
Movie of the year horror wise was Malignant. With how ridiculous 2021 was a wild, campy film like Malignant is the perfect tone in that regard. If you get the movie, awesome. If you don’t, maybe parody isn’t your style.
I was SO excited for Nightmare Alley as I'm a Del Toro fan but I was honestly bored during the movie and didn't feel like a lot happened throughout the run time. And I really have an open mind when it comes to movies but it just didn't do it for me like I thought.
I have 4 different diagnosed anxiet disorders that I get 90. 2mg Klonopin and 30, .25 Halcion and 20 mg Prozac a month for… and I am LITERALLY THAT PERSON that anyone can take advantage of Bc I’m too nice and forgiving… that movie another evil prolly wouldn’t be a little triggering but it sounds like a must watch for me!!! Also pleeeaaase watch and review Requiem for a Dream!!!!
It may not seem like much, but putting where the films you discuss can be viewed is really next level. I definitely appreciate it!
Agree

Yes! As a lover of marvel, I have been trained to check after credits for extra scenes. I'm glad I didn't miss it too, lol.

Yeah i found it creepy.
Also Catholicism has been overused in horror. I read a explanation saying that it's more in touch with horror storytelling but the overuse of it is annoying
I love u so much, I love how open minded and welcoming you are to different types of horror
That's why I like her channel
I've been rereading a Christmas Carol each year the last five years and I think the book has solid gothic horror vibes
Also didn't really like We Need To Do Something! It kinda reminded me of Await Further Instructions, but I liked AFI better! Love that you loved The Vigil. I watched this for the first time this week too and it was amazing! Happy New Year!

really glad to hear someone talk about the vigil. it's so good
Same!!
I love that you share all the movies you've watched, rather than just talking about new releases! Recently found you channel and love it!
I love home alone 2 :) it doesn’t get enough love. Also: I think a muppets Christmas Carol is also terrifying but I like it more than the disney one

I love that shirt! Thank you for the suggestions. Such an amazing, consistent, and presentable UA-camr! 💝
I just love your listings and rankings of movies. These give me great ideas of what to watch next. Thank you!

I would love to hear what you think about the silent sea. It's a Korean dystopian space show on Netflix!! I know you like space content!
I’m watching it right now!

I get so happy when you post!
Happy new year and speedy recovery for your surgery xxx
good luck with the surgery and a speed recovery
i also rewatched girl interrupted and bought the book (:
My cousin thought that don’t look up was about how the media lies about covid 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I was like GIRL the message is so obvious

Happy new year and I wish you speed recovery! I discover your channel this year and it's one of my favorites!! Thank you for the great content!!
I love that you watched But I’m A Cheerleader 💕 favorite
Thanks for all the great content! Happy New Years ❤️
I watched silent night on repeat for days during my holiday depressed. So good 👍
A film I recommend is murder by decree from 1979 (in my opinion the best jack the ripper film). Not exactly horror, but has horror elements in it.
I only know of Devils Pass cause my mom watched it (she's a horror fan herself)
Nightmare Alley flew by so fast I didn't even feel 2 and a half hours run by

My gay heart dropping when you said “But I’m a Cheerleader”. I am so happy that you experienced that movie!
Hey Sarah! Have you ever seen the show supernatural? I think you’ll like it! At least the first purple of seasons
You’re simply wonderful. Thank you.
I saw the Christmas carol at the cinema when I was like 9 and I was terrified
Nightmare Alley is soooo good!
Caught Another Evil on Shudder a few years ago, loved it!
love ur shirt sm!! happy new year sarah 🎊🥰
I also really enjoyed Come True, but feel the opposite-like I couldn’t do a rewatch because for me the fun was trying to figure out what was going on, and without that element of titillation I’m not sure I could enjoy it again. I feel similarly about Ex Machina
How have you only just watched But I'm a Cheerleader till now! One of my favorites. You should also watch Better Than Chocolate. Less campy but funny.
I’d love to see you review midnight mass, I know you typically dislike horror shows but midnight mass is just so good and it’s only 7 ep.
I would love a novella to movie comparison for We Need to Do Something- to see if it's better!

But I’m A Cheerleader is so good!! 💖
I’m shocked!!! Orphanage is one of the best movies EVER!!!
I love ❤️ jingle all the way
I can't wait watch nightmare alley movie and I watch vigil movie is very creepy vibes movie
We Need To Do Something is based on a book! I heard the book was disturbing.
I could definitely see the book being good

I love ❤️ home alone 2
Okay I also think Home Alone 2 is better than the first! I still love the first movie, but the second movie is more enjoyable for me!
i liked don't look up i thought it was fun despite the important message, ppl taking the movie too seriously for some reason 🤷♂️
