Technically, the gunslingers’ health is tied with diamond golems and 2x that of enchanters, so I dunno about that “lowest health tier 6” thing, but I guess you don’t see enchanters or diamond golems in your army every day.
I loved all golem armies in vanilla but it was sooo difficult to make them work well against ai because you usually got so low amounts of diamond ones.
Honestly wish HotA had found a way to incorporate Gold and Diamond golems into Tower so that you'd get to use them more. Always feels kinda dumb when you find a Golem Factory dwelling and can suddenly purchase things in it that your capital city's factory can't. Not to mention, they're considered neutral so you can't even mix them into your army instead of iron seamlessy or something
And yeah I have no idea how they’re even gonna begin to balance a halfling specialist. Possibly nerf the halflings, make it so there are much fewer of them in starting hero armies compared to gremlins, or even make that specialist a campaign hero?
They have taken it to account, for those terrains/surroundings they have a separate movement animation for it. Read more here: heroes3wog.net/sandworm-factory-nature-tier-5-horn-of-the-abyss-update-15/
The Atmospher is like " canyon concept" so, for the next one you can think about "Ancient Egypt". You can use Mummy ( already in the game), sphinx, giant beetle, scorpio man, anubis man and others!
@@flymodselling8663 Ah yes, because a desert town is an "awful concept" which "don't[sic] match" a game that already has mummies, robots, orcs, spaceships, demons, pirates, and wizards. /rolleyes
Love the fact that they will get the wasteland as their home terrain. Which made me realise that the only unused terrain in game by a faction is the beach terrain which would actually be fitting for the Cove and their pirates/sea side theme. How much work would take to fix that ? Fortress has the swamps.. give Cove the beaches, make justice in H3 HOTA!
I think beaches are supposed to cover less space than other terrain types. They're beaches after all. However, I wonder what if cove had two native terrains: beaches and shipdeck.
1) wasteland was added for factory, it is something from h2 not h3. 2) it is a desert not a beach. 3) its usefull for map makers to have neutral terrain.
It's funny how people believe a flame thrower is out of place in a universe that literally has dragons and magic in it. Even guns fit into it. The question should be what design these things should have, but in a world of Might and Magic, this stuff fits logically in and is beyond from being out of place. Just think about what a DaVinci would have done if he'd seen or spoken to an actual dragon who could spit fire. He would have tried to recreate it, or ar at least would have created a concept. Or if not he, then someone else would have. Especially flame thrower devices are interesting, as the first known deployed military "flame thrower" was used by the Byzantine. This was of course not the modern iteration of this weapon, but the idea of having flames and fire utilized as weapons is anything but new. And if we add something like magic to it, or the alchemy of magical universes, these technologies are even easier to achieve. The thing is, with magic available there's often no need to have these things, unless you are trying to even the odds against a magical faction and have yourself no access to magic. - So, does it fit in? Yeah, it'd actually be strange to have some half-intelligent alchemist or inventor not try to invent such stuff in a fantasy universe.
>some players won't like guns cove uses guns and cannons and people love it Still, now that, unfortunately, Docent died, we might not see this for a *while* still.
Thanks for the great video - I’ve played HOMM3 for years and years but somehow missed out on the expansions you’ve been highlighting. Where could I find a proper, complete version of HOMM3 to install on my Mac?
Funny part is that the factory is more out of place in HOM than the forge. The Forge was based on the evil ending to Might and Magic 7and was explained in canon. These gunslingers are completely out of the setting.
I'm not against the concept of Forge/Factory, but I don't like that they are starting to stray far from the HOMM3 formula mechanically. This is the same reason I could never really get into WoG. I get that the modders have a lot of cool ideas they are anxious to show off to the players, but the more different the towns (and creatures) are mechanically the harder they will be to balance. Cove is already pretty OP on huge/rich maps, and it looks like Factory could have the same problem to an even bigger degree.
Even after hota changes and without using cove the vanilla factions are still grossly unbalanced. And Cove is garbage on most JC, the most popular ranked template.
I wonder which resource the Resource Silo will produce? The original game had exactly one faction produce each rare resource (with everybody else getting generic Wood and Ore). Of course, the original HOMM3 time threw that out themselves when the Conflux produced Mercury just like the Inferno. Sulfur would make a lot of sense for a faction that uses guns and such. Though that would make three factions that produce Sulfur (alongside Cove and Dungeon), so my desire for symmetry wants them to pick something else.
In the video when they show recruitment cost for the two lvl 7 units it showed crystal for Couatls and mercury for Dreadnoughts. As for the silo it might possible be another wood and ore. We'll have to wait and see.
The rainbow quatls are really beautiful, it's really a shame that they lost the colors when upgraded. I think the modders plan is solid, but i seriously doubt their balancing between the two halves of the town is fair. the quatls are faster, but overall quite fragile and not extremely strong, while the dreadnaugts are much stronger and can be repaired ? i didn't play Homm3 in ages but that seem quite the obvious choice. provided there is no shenanigans such as pop growth of the quatls is actually 2/week while the dreadnaughts are 1/week of course.
Barring whether the factions fits into the game or not, I'm curious if the Ginslingers' Quick Shot works if the enemy shooter has No Retaliation (like the Corsairs from Cove who are ranged with no retaliation)
Any heroes fans that cried about forge needs to play the fucking games they are based on. Steampunk as factory is going for is cringe compared to the absolute KINO that is the might and magic scifi elements.
I always thought Iron Golems, Steel Golems, & Gold Golems belong to factory town units, they should have taken heavy inspiration from them. It could be really cool to have a town that focuses directly on mechanical units.
I can see at least one small mistake - 1:58 NWC were not going to put THAT in the game, this was a leaked conception art, it was not going to make into the actual add-on, as stated by Greg Fulton
So you can choose almost like in Heroes 7 you have both level 7 in town and you can build only one. If course i know here you can build both if you have enough time and resource but it seems in mulktipalyer you will havent any possibility to build both. Olgoi Khorgo or what uses the same underground teleport as Troglodyte in H7 :D
One of those unachievable dreams I have is being able to partake in creating a new H3 faction. I'm not a coder, and I don't know anyone who would either be able to code nor willing to dedicate their time to such a lengthy project. But I do have most of it planned. My dream faction would add a town onto the sand/desert terrain, probably called Oasis or something like that, and it would be loosely based on the middle-eastern culture. A key mechanic that this faction would bring into the game would be slavery. The same way that necromancers obtain skeletons from defeated enemies, the Oasis heroes would be able to gather the remains of fallen foes and enslave them. (There's the issue of, for example, enslaving dragons which would still turn into humanoid slaves. But necromancy works the same way, visually. I'm sure there'd be a lore way out of that. Or giving all humanoid creatures in the game the "humanoid" trait, and only such creatures would be available for conversion into slaves and/or skeletons.) The slaves would be, similarly to skeletons, a tier 1 creature. A cool way of making use of slaves could be, if a certain amount of slaves are stationed inside a mine, the productivity of said mine doubles. That way you'd have to choice to sacrifice some of your army's strength in favor of wealth. The upgraded version of the slave would be the gladiator who would lose this ability, but instead would have a fair chance (like 33%) of restraining a foe with a throwing net upon melee attack. A restrained unit has its speed reduced to 0 so that it cannot move, but may still attack if an enemy unit is within range (melee or ranged). What's up for debate is whether the gladiator would be then able to leave without releasing the unit, or not - which would effectively make it the same as the dendroid's root ability, minus the chance of failure. The tiers above that are completely up for the taking. There's a number of possible middle-eastern inspiration, such as mounted archers (shooting units on horsebacks, with the potential of being among the fastest ranged units in game), elephants/mûmakil (with regards to the Middle Earth lore), the nomads could also be included the same way halfling are going to be included into the factory over here. For anyone reading this, have you ever fantasised about creating your own H3 factions? I'd love to read about that!
Personally for me this is a better town to be added than Factory. I think middle-eastern town fits much better than cowboys and western inspiration. Hope we can see it one day 🙏
factory town should have been more steampunk and less wild west. Flamethrowers? Sure, let a guy hold a lizard of some sorts Gunslinger? How about clockwork gunner? Technically the same.. yet thematically a whole lot closer to the game. Still, shame it's not compatibile with WoG (or ERA for that matter)
Interesting to see that the special resources required are crystal for Couatls and mercury for Dreadnoughts. Definitely going to have to manage your resources well.
16:08 - … oh, crap. If the Armadillo is based on the one from _Darkside of Xeen,_ then it is going to be *a nightmare creature.* At least until other players have sufficiently powerful units to deal with them. Seriously, between the Armadillos and Vulture Rocs, Darkside is a freaking scary place. Also? _Very_ excited by the prospect of Kastore returning. He's a default hero from _Might and Magic III,_ and in _Heroes of Might and Magic II,_ someone got him confused with Seymour from _Might and Magic: World of Xeen._ All that said, I'm hoping for the original _Might and Magic III_ version, just to confuse people. nice. I didn't even knew that the HotA team is still developing let alone creating a whole new town. I also really like the idea of "splitting" the towns development. A lot of cool things. I hope you keep us up to date when new stuff is announced/shown :-).
on thematic consistency and the town not fitting in: Wasn't the Mght&Mgck world attacked by flying saucers at some point? Like, it's too late to care *now*
Yes it was, but the Heroes fandom were too dumb to remember that Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic are both from the same universe. But I guess Heroes is the sexy younger brother and Might and Magic is treated like the ugly, redheaded step child.
Honestly, Forge should've been added to the game from the beginning, because Conflux just doesn't fit in. The Factory, on the other hand, definitely gives off some sort of Arcanum vibe. It fits in very well and I love it :) thank you, team HotA. EDIT: forgot comma
Agreed. Forge's was a revoltingly unfair fate. I'd never let go off *my* creation due to death threats by some shithead "fans" if I worked at 3DO. Just why Fulton submitted eludes me. Conflux did belong in HoMM3, tho, even despite the fact it could have been designed far better.
Its sad because the ONLY thing I dont like about this town is the flamethrower but I cant seem to get over it. The whole idea of the lore is great, but it just doesnt seem like the Mechanics are steampunk - more like they are just... from the future. If the flamethrower she had was more detailed and seemed made by hand or whatever rather than be like a gun - this wouldnt be an issue.
@@kraizmerentertainment2121 I know, but it still bugs me. Hope the last unit that we havnt seen isnt too "advanced". I can stomach one unit out of place.
During the time of the Byzantine Empire they had greek fire which is the historical version of the flamerthower. That was used over a 1000 years ago. Not so out of place once you consider that 🙂
Forge looks fucking good. I would have liked that much more than I like the generic "four elements" bullshit that Conflux is. That town makes the game both broken and boring in my opinion.
It seems that after factory there will be no more cities, because head developer of Hota, Docent Picolan, passed away at the end of previous year. This is truly a tragedy for all HOMM3 fans and developing this town to the end is kinda complicating. So, in memoriam, they decided to complete this work and there is no information about future patches or projects.
Factory isn't released and It's not in the game. The video is 2 years old. Developers claimed they adjusted a lot of things design-vise and there are no more cowboys there, mechanics have less technological look for tier 2 creature and so on.
Forge was supposed to be evil faction right? You can tell that it was so much repulsive and unholy to look at, that every one wanted it to be removed. Factory looks similar to cove. So we have 5 neutral towns. Not a bad thing. I do like rouges, pirates and bounty hunters.
So the joke is like: -A cowboy, an enginieer badasslady, a robot, a mongolian worm, south-american dragon, a little man, and some strange turtlehedgehog meets in the tavern

@@shigerufan1 It also isn't heroes 2 but many of hota ideas are taken from H4 including satyr and leprechaun neutrals
I am a crazy hota fan from vietnam❥
Technically, the gunslingers’ health is tied with diamond golems and 2x that of enchanters, so I dunno about that “lowest health tier 6” thing, but I guess you don’t see enchanters or diamond golems in your army every day.
Fair point, I didn't think about the unaligned tier sixes.
Forge was 100% lore friendly because it was actually necropolis from M&M7, and M&M series lore is more than bloody Stargate than ppl think
Jesus H Christ that Couatl looks stunning!
This is a great video. Thanks for the information. Couatl all the way! That thing looks awesome
Maybe alien town would be a better idea ... i cant imagine how "Gun slinger" vs "archer" could happen in any world
And yeah I have no idea how they’re even gonna begin to balance a halfling specialist. Possibly nerf the halflings, make it so there are much fewer of them in starting hero armies compared to gremlins, or even make that specialist a campaign hero?
Probably just less halflings
Dlaczego ten golem w zbroi na początku filmu ma mordę Jana Pawła 2?
thanks for the update info, cant wait for the release date
Sandworms burying might have some restrictions, like maybe in a boat fight it cant burrow.
They have taken it to account, for those terrains/surroundings they have a separate movement animation for it. Read more here: heroes3wog.net/sandworm-factory-nature-tier-5-horn-of-the-abyss-update-15/
@@JaniTheBoxESCChannel Nice and ty
The Atmospher is like " canyon concept" so, for the next one you can think about "Ancient Egypt". You can use Mummy ( already in the game), sphinx, giant beetle, scorpio man, anubis man and others!
This town actually exists in the mod Heroes of Might and Magic 3 : Succession Wars. The Dervish town. Wich is a cool town.
No, sorry to say, but it's an awful concept and dont match the game.
@@flymodselling8663 Ah yes, because a desert town is an "awful concept" which "don't[sic] match" a game that already has mummies, robots, orcs, spaceships, demons, pirates, and wizards. /rolleyes
Btw, check out the Bastion mod for a finished Egyptian-themed desert town. It's almost good enough to be official, and IMO should be added to HotA.
This is so nice! It makes me want to give the team some money for this project.
They don't accept any, unfortunately.
@@retardinhojunior6546 they do :D
Music for the town is being written by Paul Anthony Romero himself!
Wizzard's Castle from Heroes 2!!
Damn the Coatl evolution should be flipped. The regular Coatl looks so much more glorious.
-
So, does it fit in? Yeah, it'd actually be strange to have some half-intelligent alchemist or inventor not try to invent such stuff in a fantasy universe.
Factory is another "Forge" town
it doesn't feel like it belongs to Heroes III
I was hoping for the blasters....
IMO wild west is worse than cyberpunk. There is no HOMM USA...
Oh look, another copy-paste comment from an ignorant fake-"fan".
>some players won't like guns
cove uses guns and cannons and people love it
Still, now that, unfortunately, Docent died, we might not see this for a *while* still.
I guess Blitzcrank gave up on being a champion in the rift, and decided to join heroes 3 instead (juggernaut)
The animations on the creatures look fantastic, now could they just redo all the original lineup like that? :D
Thanks for the great video - I’ve played HOMM3 for years and years but somehow missed out on the expansions you’ve been highlighting. Where could I find a proper, complete version of HOMM3 to install on my Mac?
I'm not sure about Mac but GOG.com has a complete version with expansions iirc. Pretty affordable, too.
Egrin yer a star mate.
That's right. For anyone else wondering, you need to get the complete edition, not the version from Steam (HD Edition).
They balance towns mostly off pro level. Games end at 2nd week there usually
Are there any new updates regarding HotA 1.7.0?
yes but no exact release date yet
The rainbow quatls are really beautiful, it's really a shame that they lost the colors when upgraded.
I think the modders plan is solid, but i seriously doubt their balancing between the two halves of the town is fair. the quatls are faster, but overall quite fragile and not extremely strong, while the dreadnaugts are much stronger and can be repaired ? i didn't play Homm3 in ages but that seem quite the obvious choice.
provided there is no shenanigans such as pop growth of the quatls is actually 2/week while the dreadnaughts are 1/week of course.
So excited for this.
Barring whether the factions fits into the game or not, I'm curious if the Ginslingers' Quick Shot works if the enemy shooter has No Retaliation (like the Corsairs from Cove who are ranged with no retaliation)
I see my playing as a casual scrub with resource rich lower difficulties pays off well
Lol me 2
Any heroes fans that cried about forge needs to play the fucking games they are based on. Steampunk as factory is going for is cringe compared to the absolute KINO that is the might and magic scifi elements.
Man that time in MM6 when you finally get blaster rifles and waltz over to sweet water nuking titans and fucking hydras along the way.
The nude version of it, that is, but not the creature itself.
Hmm.. Is he used as a portrait for one of the new Barbarians in hota?
might and magic had Alien ships so I have no problem with sci fi in heroes
so... its a town full of artificers from DnD
I am still waiting for werewolves in homm3 :D
WoG/ERA has werewolves
Or giving all humanoid creatures in the game the "humanoid" trait, and only such creatures would be available for conversion into slaves and/or skeletons.)
The slaves would be, similarly to skeletons, a tier 1 creature.
I'd love to read about that!
wow, u actually described a nomad faction from age of wonders 2 shadow magic right to the letter :)
Personally for me this is a better town to be added than Factory. I think middle-eastern town fits much better than cowboys and western inspiration.
Hope we can see it one day 🙏
factory town should have been more steampunk and less wild west.
Flamethrowers? Sure, let a guy hold a lizard of some sorts
Gunslinger? How about clockwork gunner?
Technically the same.. yet thematically a whole lot closer to the game.
Still, shame it's not compatibile with WoG (or ERA for that matter)
Interesting to see that the special resources required are crystal for Couatls and mercury for Dreadnoughts. Definitely going to have to manage your resources well.
When is factory town gonna happen?
16:08 - … oh, crap. If the Armadillo is based on the one from _Darkside of Xeen,_ then it is going to be *a nightmare creature.* At least until other players have sufficiently powerful units to deal with them. Seriously, between the Armadillos and Vulture Rocs, Darkside is a freaking scary place.
Also? _Very_ excited by the prospect of Kastore returning. He's a default hero from _Might and Magic III,_ and in _Heroes of Might and Magic II,_ someone got him confused with Seymour from _Might and Magic: World of Xeen._ All that said, I'm hoping for the original _Might and Magic III_ version, just to confuse people. (;
I like the mostly classical fantasy of homm 2 and homm 3 so i can't for the life of me like this town.
Russians also created most of Mortal Kombat Mugen games, a number of which are maybe even more awesome than the originals on which they were based.
A people with a level of creativity which is nothing short of astounding.
Steampunk feels more out of place than SciFi to me. But the town looks great, so I'm not complaining.
Im here from time the update finally released
well , i think better would be add some town from prehistoric time (like dinosaurus).. instead of western...
Granted, i think Forge was a nod towards the earlier sci-fi elements in Might & Magic.
please buff inferno please buff inferno please buff inferno !
nice. I didn't even knew that the HotA team is still developing let alone creating a whole new town. I also really like the idea of "splitting" the towns development. A lot of cool things. I hope you keep us up to date when new stuff is announced/shown :-).
I just hate the cowboy theme of the town
on thematic consistency and the town not fitting in: Wasn't the Mght&Mgck world attacked by flying saucers at some point? Like, it's too late to care *now*
Yes it was, but the Heroes fandom were too dumb to remember that Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic are both from the same universe. But I guess Heroes is the sexy younger brother and Might and Magic is treated like the ugly, redheaded step child.
If they insist on giving the gunslingers revolvers, I'd say the least they could do was give the ranged retaliation 5 charges. Ideally 6
@_@ Dude might and magic 3 is the best.
Oh we had blaster pistols, blaster rifles, droids and spaceship in M&M. Few flamethrowers won't make much difference
Factory brings back necopolis and conflux into ranked matches
О нас даже за границей говорят)✊
Im here still waiting for Patch 1.7, as you said it might come now before newyears.
Anyone know what city they will create after factory? Any gossips?
Nothing.
@Patrick Bateman they planning to create own game with simular mechanics. As i got the same hmm3 but with new graphic.
2 years later =P
Hi! very cool stuff! hey my battle music do not play when i`m in a battle! )= this happened after updating the launcher )= any idea to fix it?
Feel like it's odd to have the ginslingerd as lvl 6 creatures they dont look or feel that strong
when it comes out?? it feels like a lifetime !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Devs suffered a tragic loss in November 2020, so don't expect them to finish the work anytime soon.
I feel like there's an argument to be made that standing out isn't necessarily bad. Having one faction that doesn't fit with the others might work.
I don't like new castle in hota 1.6, I just back to 1.5.4. Cove was pretty good, but this? It doesn't fit to heroes 3
Factory isn't released and It's not in the game. The video is 2 years old. Developers claimed they adjusted a lot of things design-vise and there are no more cowboys there, mechanics have less technological look for tier 2 creature and so on.
team neither, i dont like the concept of choosing just 1 branch
heroes 7 already have that u can choose between 2 tier VII creatures
Forge was supposed to be evil faction right? You can tell that it was so much repulsive and unholy to look at, that every one wanted it to be removed.
Factory looks similar to cove. So we have 5 neutral towns. Not a bad thing. I do like rouges, pirates and bounty hunters.
So the joke is like:
-A cowboy, an enginieer badasslady, a robot, a mongolian worm, south-american dragon, a little man, and some strange turtlehedgehog meets in the tavern
Ok nice but when will it come?
Very cool concept! It mixes very naturally to world of homm3! And also the music is amazing (I already see other video) When It will be the release!? Hope to see soon!! :)
Couatl have better design than crimson couatl.
Enchanters are tier 6 creatures and they have 30 hitpoints
I hope they can manage to balance this faction!
