I'm romanian and personally I think S for Romania is overly optimistic. We played good finally in a long time, but the group was kind of easy excluding switzerland which was lackluster. I would personally put Romania at A or B, we don't deserve to be 2 places above croatia and italy.
it is compared to the EXPECTATIONS, not necessarily the quality.. italy and croatia just played worse than they should have.. plus many people thought romania would end up 4th-5th in the group so i think thats enough reasoning to put them so highly

I think you romanians definitely overestimate the quality of your National Team. Maybe it is because of your past (Romania was good, especially in the 90s). Now, however, the quality is on par with my NT (Albania). We albanians certainly did not expect our NT to come first. So yes, Romania deserves the S-tier, cause they were much better than expected.
I am curious, however, if any romanians read my comments, as to why your expectations of the NT are so high compared to the quality of the NT?

Putting Russia into A tier has to be joke, yes they have been ubeaten, but drawing against iran, quatar, kenya and beating cameroon by just one goal… terrible year for them. D tier, C tier at most… but other countries were fairly ranked. Thanks for the video.

Sidenote on Hungary as in my opinion clearly an S year!!
They are on the 2nd longest undefeated streak in the World currently (last loss Sep ‘22) which is 15months. Last time they went undefeated for a calendar year = 1976
The draws = if you look at how many injuries/suspensions they had (7-8 mostly starting players) and the fact that they didnt need to win 2 of the 3 draws its minor compared to what they are achieveing!

If you referring to the Bulgaria game - that was the most inconsistent and shocking referreeing I’ve ever seen…that match had nothing to do with the two teams rather what decision the referee was making, who to send off or give penalties to etc…..The universe brought in partial justice at the end as Bulgaria had 1 shot on goal and Hungary dominated the game.

I am still happy for my Romanian national team and I love that we proved wrong many people. A qualification to this kind of major tournament it was enough to bring us in the streets of Bucharest to celebrate and be joyful. That win with Switzerland was just unbelievable for us because, fun fact, the legend Gheorghe Hagi couldn't get a win with Switzerland that time, and our generation did. Ianis Hagi made proud his dad Gheorghe Hagi for sure, Drăgușin was the base of our defence, and lets not forget about Nicolae Stanciu's free kicks, Moldovan's incredible saves and how Coman kept the possesion of our ball, and I cant forget about Alibec and Pușcaș ans Mihăilă. All the players were absolutely incredible, and I thought you will put us at A tier, but S tier was just unexpected.

They broke their own record and scored in 3 games in a row. Thats a huge succes for a country that is without chance of even winning a single game. They only won 1 game in their history (2004 against Lichtenstein)

Its basically the best San Marino year ever. Instead of high defeats they managed to play close games against Finland and Danemark.
I'm super hyped to see Romania in the euros. Even managed to get lucky and got a ticket for their match in Germany for the group stage. Will be supporting them like crazy. I'm from Brazil and Romania is my 2nd team because of the good memories from WC 1994 and Hagi 🤞🏻
As a Slovak 🇸🇰 im really happy that we redeemed ourselves after our terrible performance in the nations league. I think that our ranking in A is fair.

This year is by far the greatest year in Luxembourg's football history, putting them in C tier is crazy, what would they have to do to be higher? A country that size can't be expected to ever qualify, so I think they should be at least A tier
I think they should be B. If Luxembourg really got an A, then San Marino also should because it’s also their best year and they couldn’t be expected to qualify.

As a Russian, I wouldn't rate our team anywhere near the top. Despite the fact that we didn't lose any games in 2023, our team looked appalling - the games were super boring with random goals and no interesting tactics. 90% of the players say that they have no motivation playing friendlies, so that probably explains it. The only game we didn't look terrible at was against Cuba, which is ranked 169 in the world by FIFA. Fun fact: the Cuban team lost part of their equimpent before arrival, so they had to buy shoes at a regular sports clothing store. That tells a lot about how easy it was to play against them. I'd say that we have some talented players (Golovin, Kuzyaev, Miranchuk), but we are far from being the same team that reached the quarterfinals of a World Cup in 2018. If we get unbanned from tournaments, I don't expect us even qualifying for a World Cup any time soon. My rank would be C at best - since the teams we played didn't feature the best squad or weren't very motivated to play.
As a Romanian i hope Russia will get unbanned of all tournaments because as UEFA and FIFA said politics shouldn't be mixed with football and I love Russia as a country with great culture history and religion and i hope the relation between Romania and Russia will be increased and it's already increasing but with pro Russian and anti-West political parties rising like AUR and SOS the relation will become a very good one and I hope we can become friends again.
Hopefully we will never see russia again in UEFA competitions. I look forward to seeing Chechnya in a future one of these videos though

Two points is pretty strong for Andorra, given that they are pretty much in the same boat as San Marino, Gibraltar or Liechtenstein. C or D would be more fitting.
I also would've put Luxembourg higher, either A or B.

As a Dutchman I agree with your rank, even a c would be ok for me, nations league was a disaster.
Back in 2022 under van gaal we looked really strong, we where such a tough side to beat, arguably gave the current world champions their hardest game together with Saudi.
Things went how they went unfortunately, but I think we together with France England and Croatia where the best European sides.
Since 2019/2020 our squad has been more than fine, and more and more players break trough in European top leagues at the moment.
It’s balanced, Frenkie and Virgil and de ligt (if not injured) stand above all in terms of qualities imo but underneath them there really is a huge pool of brilliant players to pick from.
This team needs a worldclass manager for the next upcoming years if they want to finally win something, and I’m not sure if koeman is the right fit yet.
But he is yet to work with a fully fit squad without injuries or sickness, gotta give him that one tho.
Making it to semi-final of Nations League can hardly be called a disaster. For many countries it would be a dream come true.

You say it’s compared to expectations but then make it very results driven, no matter the expectations anyways. I hope in next season’s video you go a bit more crazy and “overreact” a bit if you will, just kind of truly grade them compared to their own expectations. I feel like you kind of wanted to do this but didn’t want to have a lost with a lot of typical minnows at the top, and maybe feared the backlash a bit too lol.

I think Switzerland are very underrated. One bad qualifying doesn't mean that people can just forget about them and call them a washed football nation. I feel like they'll go far in the Euro's this year just because people are doubting them. Xhaka is doing insane on Leverkusen, Akanji is a very solid CB, Fabian Schar is one of the most underrated players in the prem, Shaqiri is still big Shaq, and Amdouni, Okafor, Vargas and Zakaria are all talented young players. They've also got arguably 2 top 10 goalkeepers in the world with Sommer and Kobel. One bad tournament doesn't mean they can't bounce back.

Honestly move us to C. We played like complete garbage against Turkey when we won 2-0 (Livaković/Kova had good games and that’s about it), played super safe in the NL finals, and really only shined against the crappy teams. This doesn’t even mention the fact we choked multiple games in the dying minutes of the game

No disrespect to Romania but they should be in A. Yes they did play a solid qualification and beat us (I'm Swiss) but then again it wasn't the hardest of groups and they still took up 4 draws. Putting them on the same level as Portugal, England or France is just a bit too optimistic. Definitely earned an A-spot though.

The Russian team only played against weak teams and even then did not dominate the matches. They won only the last match with a big score, but the Cuban team is clearly very weak in football.
