I'm just learning more about smart and I LOVE IT. I did NA for years and I am learning to reprogram my brain from the 12 step programs. But I'm loving smart so much.
These are great! Please keep them coming. I'm really excited to see what kind of content this channel puts out. SMART is such a great system, and these videos further help to break down walls to spread the message to those who need it the most. Next thing you've gotta try- broadcasting a meeting live on youtube! Thank you so much
This is not in the least bit helpful if one's trigger is depression/anxiety. There's no way to escape or avoid your own brain; every external distraction has to be filtered through the brain state and thus gets watered down or nullified by it, and there's only so many hours and hours one can take of waiting and accepting that you feel awful before you just get sick and tired of it. And there's no irrational belief to dispute because it's an indisputable fact that alcohol DOES make one feel better *in the moment*--and when one is feeling that wretched for that long, that moment is all you care about. I would really appreciate more tools for dealing wth persistant internal triggers like that, and a more realistic approach altogether. Sobriety does NOT always feel great, we are NOT always "killing it," and resources that don't acknowledge that aren't helpful.
Thanks for your comment. Sorry this episode wasn’t helpful to you. At SMART Recovery we are dealing specifically with external triggers that people can learn to successfully manage and overcome. We feature lots of videos to help overcome triggers so I invite you to check them out and let us know if they help!
I think it would be helpful if you cut back on the triggering imagery -- drinks, people drinking, people cramming cake in their mouths. Do you think these images are helpful to people early in recovery? This is not the only video that features the very triggers many people are trying to avoid.
My addiction is food. I'm not sure how to apply all of these tools to my situation. I have to eat to live. Just the simple act of eating can be a trigger for me.
I am a new SMART Facilitator and I love your videos. Please keep up the great work. I am using your videos to teach my group the tools. THANK YOU!!!!
Karlee Mock thanks!!!!!!!!

elph77 Hi there. The tools can work to help modify what you eat and how much. And when. Try them!
