  • I picked up a Vance and Hines FuelPak FP3 because the bike is running lean when I added slip ons. I figured I'd knock the catalytic converter to make it breathe even better.

    Just completed mine today using your tool list 1" x 17 1/2" auger bit from HF. I used an electric drill. Needs to be a 1/2" drive for the auger bit to fit. The cylinder hone was a 4" I purchased from HF. Once I drilled two holes all the way thru I used a long 17" heavy screwdriver to work around the edges of the CAT, tapping and twisting and occasionally running the drill bit inside to break up pieces. Overall it took about 3 hours (with a few breaks) The cylinder hone was a nice touch ... clean as a whistle. Should sound decent now with aftermarket slip ons but not so much with the muffled OEM. This is the best way.

      I have a dumb question: I also bought the 4" Hone from HF. How the hell do you keep it connected to the drill? The shaft is round on the hone, my drill spins on the round shaft. What am I missing? Sorry, I have never used a hone tool before, newb here.

    • @yellow72bronco

      It was an old cylinder hone I had, has 3 spring loaded stones. I picked the closest tune to what I had in their list of options. I messaged V&H to ask their opinion of my choice and they confirmed it was a good pick. I don’t think I went into the auto tune at all. Unfortunately I didn’t ride it as much as I wanted to this season to fine tune. Big improvement over stock tune for sure.

My buddy has a 103 with slip ons, de-catted and no need for a tune. Depends how they factory tuned your bike and where you live as far as altitude. Adding a FP3 can always optimize performance. I have the SE tuner/ would I need a different tuner if I remove the CAT?

      Some people have removed the cat without needing a tuner. My bike was running lean after it added the slip ons. My buddy has slip ons, cat delete and no tuner on his 107.

    looking at that crossover pipe it appears to be just about worthless

      The crossover pipe is useless? I guess most flow goes out the right pipe but it depends what you have for baffles. If those are gutted also then yes, but mine are intact. Appearance more than anything perhaps. Cheers!

      You’re entitled to your opinion. Show your process. No sparks from cutting or welding, didn’t have to disconnect the battery to protect the ECM. Cheers

      Also, not everyone has a welder ……..

    What about the O2 sensor????

    • @yellow72bronco
      @yellow72bronco  Рік тому +1

      Doesn’t affect 02 sensor because the cat isn’t ahead of it in the exhaust
