- This is a live concert of Ronnie Dio and The Prophets that I chose to include the song "Hey Look Me Over" as audio. I love how the camera man kept focusing on all the chicks butts lol (And there were some nice ones indeed!) Gary Driscoll's reaction at the end though, haha. I figure this must have happened sometime in 1967
Hard to believe that just 8 years later he'd be singing 'Man on the Silver Mountain'.

Just goes to show how quickly things can change!
Yeah it's funny he went from this shit music to making great music just a few years later. Ronnie is a great singer.

When the cameraman doesn't realise he's filming a future legend and keeps getting distracted by butts.
Distracted? He’s doing the same thing I would do
Can't say that I blame him.

Harsh but hilarious
True but the ones that did hit the shows in the 80s were very...fun..
@@JG-no3iz For sure. Metal titties.
Maybe, though an attractive metal woman is more epic than approximately 666 regular women combined.
Not even close to being true. Saw Dio in 88 and made out with some chick I didn't know. Even got a little stank fing lol
I remember them playing at a school dance in Marathon NY must have only been a year or so after this. They were Ronnie Dio and the Electric Elves then. Not sure what year it was. 69 or 70? Use to see them locally after that as Elf. Was slways kind of proud a local boy made it so big. Was always a Dio fan, for sure. RIP RONNIE!
i just read recently the Dio was from New Hampshire originally. Or born there at least.

@@tomchrisfield7348 I guess we were both correct. Ronald Padavona was born in Portsmouth, N.H., and in Cortland, N.Y. He took his stage name in tribute to the gangster Johnny , and he began his career in rockabilly bands in the late 1950

Dio was perhaps the only relavant rock artist in the 1980's-2000's whose first legit records came out in the 1950's
The only one I can think of to come close was a friend of his, Pat Boone. Go listen to "Ain't that a shame", and then his cover of Dio's "Holy Diver", haha. Dio sings backup vocals on the cover.

This band has some seriously nice guitars… And I like how Ronnie is just strumming his rare Gibson bass like he’s a folkie holding an acoustic guitar.
Just amazing how Dio went from Beach Boy style of music, to the the Legandary Heavy Metal Voice that he became. Just incredible R.I.P.
Dont forget Elf.
This is more early Who than Beach Boys.
They had a song out two years earlier that sounded just like the Beatles. This sounds like the Who
@@ohso41 Either way the transformation is incredible!
@@joeyjackman675 agreed. His really early stuff in the early 60's actually was very similar to Frankie Avalon and Dion and the Belmonts. It wasn't until around 1972 with elf that you can hear the Dio that we all know and love
18 years after this: "The old ones speak of winter, the young ones praise the Sun, and time just slips away". 42 years after this: "Far beneath the world we missed the Sun". Long live Dio!
And just a mere eight years after this, "Sail away on ships of wonder, But life's not a wheel, With chains made of steel, So bless me".
Seven years after: "I'm a fire, Burning higher, Trying to burn the sun"
"The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes and steal your dreams!"
"My eyes are bleeding"
" They say you never hear the bullet that kills
And I don't hear a sound "

@@swampdonkey67 Yeah, sure, the Who stole a song by a completely unknown band in New York state and released it a year before this footage has been dated. "Substitute" was released as a single in the UK on March 4, 1966. They were obviously pretty heavily influenced by the Who. Christ.

When Black Sabbath split with OO and Ronnie James Dio came aboard, as much as I loved Ozzy, it was like I now had TWO Black Sabbaths,...
The original Black Sabbath back catalog, and a branching out with Dio making it new again, while at the same time allowing the catalog to be a viable ongoing touring option, that was an astounding position to fill.
The Ozzy Osbourne Blizzard of Ozz recordings and tours going forward was a third dimension of all the family of Sabbath as was the evolving Black Sabbath with its ever changing line-up. Everyone wants to be liking the "Greatest" or the "Best" , yet some of us are just able to have more "best" at once I suppose. Nobody said you can only have ONE. And even then, he has his moments of greatness...WE are all lucky to have lived through and seen this era of performers. Ozzy is lucky to be alive....One of the great things about Dio that make up his past is that he and the Prophets ( I think that was the name then) played an act in Las Vegas with a look to fit. 0:32 The drummer was standing, now he is sitting
0:52 Ronnie must have gotten heart broken
1:05 The camera guy gets side tracked on a girls butt
1:10 Still sidetracked by butts
1:25 The sound of Seagulls are used to make it sound like girls are going crazy over the drum solo
1:45 The Angel sitting on the barn roof, sees Ronnie Dio and the Profits future and bounces out
1:48 The band has an epiphany and Ronnie is debating on becoming Ronnie James Dio or just Dio
1:50 Twirking is born on a farm This is what lead to Ronnies previous thought
1:59 RJD looks like if John Travolta and Glen Danzig had a love child
2:00 John Stamos sees the bands future
2:04 Drummer is looking at camera guy like hey man you were not filming us, all you filmed were the girls asses, this was a music video shoot not a skinamax feature. One day, there will be a market for band videos, and its going to spar on a plethora of fake reality shows that cause society to pretend like they live in one big frat house.
Also starting at 2:05 The sound of the bands future is captured
Hope you find these useful.
Epic!
This is awesome, I like this better than the later metal, except for when Ronnie was in Ritchies band. Hot chicks would actually show up to see this.. girls run from metal.
What in the actual fuck. There is literally more footage dedicated to flat 1960's ass than there is to Ronnie - and he's the singer, so odd.
The constant butt distractions made me realize how much Ronnie looks like John Stagliano. :D
Haha! Oh good grief!
Dio playing with a SG Bass looks awesome
Dio: One of Portsmouth, NH's greatest sons.
If this video had been shot in Brazil, the cameraman wouldn't even have filmed the band
Wow, CSNY meet Archie's. Surprised he's not the Ronnie that scared the crap out if us.
this random butt shots are hilarious :))
“But they weren’t random...”
It’s funny listening to this and then listening to “Neon Knights” or “Holy Diver” lol. I’m glad Ronnie made the change, a change for the better.
Change for the better? Only because we were blessed to have that time period.... but you have to respect this music also....
Lol they kinda sound like the Who here!
16 years later he would be worshiped by 80's rockers!!!
nope, 8 years, Rainbow's 1975 first album
@@maiconribeiro2668 there were no "80's rockers" in 1975 LOL.
So really the correct answer is 13 years later he would be worshipped by 80's rockers.
@@adameves5970 8 years later, he would be worshipped by the rockers in general 😛
What a historic masterpiece. Perfect merging of a 1967 hippie gig with Ronnie James & Prohets. Wendy Dio should have this archived into his life-story DVD box set. Someone captured magic that day.
I'm not putting this early piece down, but I'm glad that Ronnie became what Ronnie became.
