  • I’ve been getting a lot of questions…so here I try to break it down piece by piece…BUT (insert disclaimer here)…it’s hard to give a real total for the pieces that I 3D printed/built by hand…so bare in mind that there was a 3D printer involved.

I don't want to add up how much my setup has cost me (not including the computer). I might scare myself. 😂😂😂

It does get a wee bit scary…I spread this one out over time so it wasn’t “quite” as bad, but still adds up.

Nice setup! Great work. Should be proud of yourself. I have a basic setup in VR that I use with PE. I’m noticing that VR is great when you want to fly and not concentrate and write tower instructions. The setup that you have is ideal to learn. This is what I need next. Thanks for the inspiration!

The cost quickly adds up doesnt it! I am kinda scared to add up the cost of all of my purchases. But quite a lot of the things I bought were at a discount from Amazon warehouse or were used items on ebay. I have opted for touchscreens and air manager for most instruments and controls. Really saves a lot of money, and also makes the cockpit really flexible in what aircraft it can simulate. Though that flexibility does compromise the tactile feedback you get with physical switches and knobs. Your sim certainly looks a lot more professional than mine will do also.

Yup, it all added up way too quickly. Luckily I had a 3D printer which made this so much easier to tackle

My flaps switch from atf broke, too. USB receptacle came right off when I unhooked it during my move. They replaced the whole thing without an issue. It works incrementally fine.

Mine never worked incrementally for the raise.
Once I had the initial break, I decided I wanted to set it up in such a way that I could fix/modify it myself vice having to pack it up and send it back…I just trusted my wiring and arduino more than their cards.
I had an issue with their fuel select switch as well. Also had to torque down the key assembly on their switch panel…whole reason I went with them was to avoid having to make changes in stuff.

@@shadetreehomesim same crap with their switch panel for me…. Ignition loosened up so bad I couldn’t use it. They replaced that too.

I might have missed it, the panel itself with the bezels and the knobs, did you purchase or make? Do the knobs work? Great clean looking sim!

Thanks…do you mean the main panel with the gauges? Thats just plywood with holes cut in it and rotary encoders embedded (and they work)

Any chance you sell some of those 3D printed things assembled? I’d be interested in possibly ordering a compass/other instruments that you have pre built; I have yet to start a sim setup due to space and cost, but I have over 80 hours in an archer II and would like to have something at home to at least “chair fly” visually.

      Have you used mobiflight before?
The 3D compass isn’t my design…it’s on Thingiverse. If you don’t have a 3D printer I could print the shell out for you if it helps.
The stuff I ‘designed’/threw together was that transponder in the video and I’m working on an analog com/nav radio. After that I’m going to try and cobble together an autopilot.
One huge resource is Captain Bobs website…he also has gauges for sale.
I can help with what little I can do though

Nice setup :). Do you mind if I ask what Zoom Level setting you have. Also how do you have the same seat position every time you start the plane without having to mess about.?

Cockpit with 3 55 inch 4k TVs comes in around $2700.
