It's likely Joseph Jackson asked other artists to sing and adjusted the pitch to make it sound like a child singing, and explains why many of his performances are lipsynced. In his adult years they hired another impersonator as detailed in a biography Michael Jackson: The Lie Becomes The Truth by Arthur T. Phoenix. Notice how Michael Jackson's physique does not resemble any of his best voice impersonators (generally stocky men like Jason Malachi, Jean Walker and Marcus Williams).
