Just checked, and my fan was installed by a dealership in AZ. I'm now back in CT, not working, will get it fixed. Thanks for the information, appreciate it. Ride safely.
On a twin-cooled bike (Limited), you activate the fans in the lowers to cool the coolant after a long hot ride by full throttle without a running engine. And when you roll the throttle forward with the ignition on, you can activate the AITMS (or something...) and that shuts of the rear cylinder at a traffic light. Helps to reduce heat at a standstill. The bike sounds a little "dirt bike ish' but it helps too.
I checked mine, it works. I did mine with my PowerVision. If you have a PV1 you enable the fan while the PV is connected to the bike. Yes the dealer does it also for 30 minutes labor or for free if you have a relationship with service.
Thanks for making this video!!! The cooling fan is standard on the police motorcycles coming from the factory. You listed some great points in this video and those who go Stage 2 and above should take note. Big bore = more horsepower = more heat.
I tried this on my Road Glide Limited 114 Stage II Twin Cooled and it worked just like it does for the oil-cooled M8s. Absolutely cools down my bike as it only runs about a minute after shutdown so I now do this so that it continues cooling down while I unload my cooler bag and other items after a ride or while filling up at a gas station. A great feature for this Florida heat.
Getting a good tune on your bike really cools down the bike a bunch!! I Have an Ultra twin Cooled and every time I came home from riding my fans would run for about a minute after I shut the bike down. Now, it has to be really hot outside for those fans to kick on. I had a stage 2 cam installed and a great tune and it is a different bike! It reduced the heat a bunch, not sure how much, but A LOT!
Wow great tip on checking to see the oil cooler fan is on... I’m getting a fan soon cuz ya know global warming an all.. and I got the cooling oil filter too that’s going on soon thnx for the tips
Great video! like you say, who knew?! thanks so much for the tip. I have the 131 stage IV kit on my Rod Glide and that son of gun runs hot! Ike you say, you can't really see or hear if you're fan is working. I tried your tip and the fan kicked on! thanks for letting us know, love your channel!
I put mine on because of what you told everyone in your last video about UltraCool. It made a huge difference! I live in Pensacola, Fl, and it has been super hot here this summer.
I have a 2021 Triglide (114) that has the coolant fans in the lowers. I wonder if there's a test similar to your oil cooler fan test that I could do to make sure they're working BEFORE I head out for a ride.. As it is now, the only way I know they're working now is after I get back from a ride and pull into the garage and shut the bike down and if the engine is hot enough, they'll run for a minute or so after I shut the ignition off. I'd really like to know if they're working before I take off ya know 😊
Wow, thank you for the video. I have a 2020 streetbob and I’m going to check if i have a fan. I sit in heavy traffic at times from Elizabeth to Clifton and at times i really feel that heat especially when the temps are at 90 🥵.
I run a stock 107 with the oil cooler fan... I monitor the oil temps with a digital dipstick. In hot temps, my oil temp runs consistently between 200-210. I am happy knowing my engine is running happy. I occasionally check the fan operation. The HD dealership installed my fan and showed me how to check it. The HD fan works well. Did I hear you correct that your oil temps are reaching 260+ before the fans turn on? Great video. Thanks :-)
The HD manual says that normal operating oil temperature should not exceed 230*. Before I had the fan installed, I hit 232* one time. After the fan installation and flash by HD, my temps are way down. In hot weather with average stop and go riding, I have never hit 220*. I have been told that your engine oil is happiest at 200*. I think it is important to let the engine get to a good temp target to evaporate condensation inside the engine. I do believe that you can over cool an engine. I always warm my engine before each ride between 2-3 minutes just for that reason. On a vehicle cooling system, which is obviously water cooled, there is a thermostat to control the temperature. The thermostat will not open until the coolant has reached the optimal temperature. Some people run their engines without a thermostat, which is a bad idea, because the coolant never reaches the optimal temperature. They think this will keep the engine cooler. If that was a good idea, vehicle manufacturers would not install a thermostat. Running this extra large fan assisted cooler is a novel idea. However, without an oil temp gauge, you have no clue what your oil temp is at. An infrared heat gun is not the proper way to check oil temps. Those guns are inaccurate. I tried using one on my race car and ended up ditching it. My two cents :-)
The ultra cool fans come on at 210, not 260, then they go off at 185, that’s per Ultra Cool!! Great System, and never have to buy another oil filter again!!! Plus 10 degrees cooler!! Win Win!!❤
Hey John. I have a 09 Ultra with I believe a stage 2 to from a 96 ci to a 103. I have compression buttons in my cylinder heads and no oil coolers. I dont consider a 103 a big bore but if you were me, would you put one one. I do a fair amount of riding. About 5K per yr. Nothing crazy. Thanks John. Love the channel 🤘
I guess it all depends how much power you’re putting out and what the compression is on the motor. If it’s a high power build with high compression, I would definitely put one on.
@CYCLEFANATIX Thank you for taking a minute of your time to reply John. I will have to find that info out. Btw I rock the Metzler Cruise tech tires and have had no issues thus far. Missed you at Bikes n Breakfast last Sunday but hope to meet you one day. Brad from Putnam County NY 🤘
Nice video and very informative. Suppose HD does all the stage upgrades and the bike overheats due to bumper to bumper summer traffic and blows the engine does HD warranty the work? Talk about possible damages are you familiar with the HD recall of the suspension fastener that secures the rear shock absorber that could possibly break and puncture the rear tire? It affects 65K bikes from 2018 to current.
I am running the ultracool oil cooler system and in the directions it says to remove stock harley oil cooler before installing the ultracool system. There are only 2 oil lines to the oil filter bracket so I'm just wondering where the oil lines go from the lower oil cooler?
Holy crap!!!
Just did that and it works!
This is amazing 🤩
I’m mind blown !!!
Just checked, and my fan was installed by a dealership in AZ. I'm now back in CT, not working, will get it fixed. Thanks for the information, appreciate it. Ride safely.
The M8 runs hot even without a stage 1 or 2 upgrade. That is why Frank and I, have been using the ultra cool oil cooler for years.
I HAVE THIS FAN SET UP ON MY ROADGLIDE. GREAT INFO, THANKS FOR SHARING
You can actually enable it yourself with the new Powervision update. Believe it happened last week.

Awesome! I had no clue about this. Always was unsure if mine has ever turned in and now I know😮
After watching your last video ordered and fitted the same kit excellent product easy fit it works ...
Holy crap, it's like you were reading my mind. Thanks for the video.

Holy crap I didn't know that . I wonder if the thundermax works the same way. Great vid brotha

My cooling fan works on my 2021 Freewheeler. On Freewheeler trikes it come stock from the factory. Thank you for this info!! Hi from Italy.
Glad it helped!
Nice job John
Thanks John I did not know that but will now check my fan!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace brother!!
👊👍
Thank you John, I will check mine, had my dealer install it just a couple weeks ago. awesome info.
I did not know this! Awesome info! Thanks brother!!
Anytime Michael thank you for your support
Thank you for looking out for other riders. Keep it up.
Always!
Thanks for the tio, bike looks awesome!!
Yep. Same way on a softail, power vision can turn on the fans now.
Wow awesome thanks for that info. Just went out and checked to see if it worked, and it did.
Thanks for the info I tryed it on my cvo and my fan came on that is a great piece of information I appreciate it and love you channel
Glad it helped
I have the HD fan and really appreciate you showing us this. This is really cool.
It’s the same process for the fans in the lowers for the cooling system that cools the heads
Holy Shit!! Thanks John, mine is working. Can’t believe how loud it is!! Lol
And you ride hard John 😂 great to see you guys got out of Maine without No moose troubles
Nice video keep up the good work Cycle Fanatix
Wow great tip on checking to see the oil cooler fan is on... I’m getting a fan soon cuz ya know global warming an all.. and I got the cooling oil filter too that’s going on soon thnx for the tips
Just checking my fan kicked on John! Thanks so much for that incredible tip

Never hurts to have extra cooling
I have an Ultra and tested the fans the way you showed me ! Good to know thanks brother 💯
No problem 👍
Good video, Johny I think I’m going to get one and put it on my roadside ST thank you
Something I’ve been thinking about since i live in AZ bit when it gets extremely hot i don’t ride 110+
If I lived in AZ, I would get the oil cooler setup like he has plus some love jugs.
I put mine on because of what you told everyone in your last video about UltraCool. It made a huge difference! I live in Pensacola, Fl, and it has been super hot here this summer.
Thank you I have that fan also and I did the test and mine didn't turn on following your directions. Taking it in to have it checked out
Just checked my fan. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for a very, very informative video John.. lots and lots of ppl don’t know about this I agree 100%
That’s great information
Thanks
Wow 😮 no idea…. Thanks John for that info 👌💪🏼💪🏼
You bet!
That’s funny we just checked it on my uncles bike it’s not working 🤣 wow
I’ve also heard of a dealer that enabled the wrong fan. They enabled the cool flow fan instead of the oil cooler fan.
Great video john
Very informative

Give it a shot and see if it works
@@CYCLEFANATIX It does 😁 It says it too in the service manual. Who knew! I like it!
If you have the dynojet power vision 3 you can flash your bike for the Harley Davidson oil cooler fan at home.
Wow, thank you for the video. I have a 2020 streetbob and I’m going to check if i have a fan. I sit in heavy traffic at times from Elizabeth to Clifton and at times i really feel that heat especially when the temps are at 90 🥵.
That’s going to be on baggers not softails
Thanks for this tip ! who knew ?
Thank you for sharing this information.
HD oil cooler fan comes on when oil temp reaches 221 degrees and shuts off at 203.
Powervision can turn on the fan and if u wanna save money buy the thunder max fan same as Harley’s but mounts better

@richardrussell500 Correct me of Im wrong, but just like a car engine Temps at around 200-210 max, so should bike engine temps. What is your thoughts?

I would like to know at what temperature the HD oil cooler fan turns on.
So with the addition of the second oil cooler you feel you don’t need extra air for the rear cylinder with a Jim´s forced air unit?

Great info!!!! I had no idea.
👊👍
My ultra limited had fan stock in 2017.
Just so we're all clear....does the HD oil cooler fan only operate when the bike is stopped and oil temp is above a certain level?
It turns on when the engine gets to a specific temperature doesn’t matter if you’re stopped or rolling
I have a dealer installed 131 and i can hear something click down by the fan but the fan isnt coning on
John,
I have the HD fan, at what temperature dose the HD fan kick on?
I’m not sure
Where did you get this info? The HD dealership had no clue nor did the instructions indicate what temperature it turned on. Thanks :-)
@@BlancoFlaco I wonder where they got that information? I will have to ask them... thanks : - )

Yes, the mono shock bikes@@richardrussell500
I found out about this from another UA-camr that showed how to install fan..
12:45 is where he actually talks about what the title of the video makes you think he is going to talk about... good lord
May not be good in cold weather
So John you are running the original ECU
Yes
How are you running the stock oil cooler with the ultracool oil cooler?
I have multiple videos on it check them out
