This is sick man. Love the little snips from Sandman, done perfectly. It’s actually a really interesting situation - essentially an original ‘remix’ (the modern definition, not just re-mixing the original stems like so many other BASS BOOSTED AFJA etc), but in the style of the artist’s own previous catalogue! It’s pretty nuts and the possibilities are almost endless, although of course some will pull it off better than others. It’s almost built for fans of bands with extensive back catalogues, the great rock bands etc - done like this they’re full of tasty little Easter eggs for the deep fans. You’re a pioneer for this lil niche mate, good shit.
@@StateOfMercury Can you do Fade To Black in the style of Death Magnetic please? I can already hear influences from The Day That Never Comes and The Unforgiven III in my head. Huge fan! 🤘
This had to be a tougher one than most. It had the same producer, and ostensibly still pretty similar engineering w/ both albums, so it becomes more a an emphasis on arrangement and equipment choices: "What type of guitar would Kirk use? How much wah-wah would he have used (abused) on 'Black' vs. "Load' (lol)? How many layers of guitars would have tracked between verses?" And of course, James wasn't as keen yet at "going slower" which is what you notice most obviously (also, you didn't hear as much of the deliberate, pregnant, stop-(all use of)time pauses as they would on 'Black'--I'm looking at you, "Sad But True" and "Wherever I May Roam"). Plus Lars, Bob and Randy Staub were really going for that "Bonham weight" in the drum sound on the Black album.

You seriously could get someone who's just at good at imitating Hetfield's voice as you are at imitating their sound, have them sing original lyrics over this, and pass it off as unreleased Metallica song from the Black Album. I guarantee no one would suspect a thing. It's amazing how authentically you're able to replicate their style.
Man, this is so much better.... you are next level genius. Your knowledge of their sound and the ability to transform and transplant these songs between albums is supernatural. Big props 👍🏻
I dont think you truly understand how amazing these tracks are. These are timeless classics! I think all of us have wondered what certain tracks, would sound like on certain albums! Sounds better than actual Metallica songs!
This is now the 10th time I've listened to this truly cracking song. And being an avid Halo fan for nearly 20 years I just cannot stop listening to it. A massive thank you to StateOfMercury for doing this.
How about: “The Memory Roams”? &/or: “Wherever I Remain”? Collaboration of adapting The memory remains & Where ever I may roam... might be interesting to say the least...
While "Memory" is probably one of the better ones from the 'Load / Reload' sessions (controversial as that may already be to say), I think I might have dug this version better. While I am one of the few who could appreciate the "Death Blues" swing the "Load" version was going for (to the dismay of fans who not-so-secretly have wanted the band to "go faster! go harder!"), this one has more snap-and-pop to it, in a good way.
This is great! The only thing i would change is the lady singing nahnahnah to James and maybe backupsingers harmony singing it, or sort of shouting it out. Faster and louder
This is killer! The Memory Remains sounds amazing! You are an amazing musician/producer! If I could make a request, I would love to hear The Outlaw Torn done in the Style of Justice and For All or done in the Black Album Style!
