- To add to my other content on conscious consumerism, I thought I'd show y'all some behind the scenes of how I organize my wishlist in order to make informed and minimal makeup purchases. This especially needed a declutter before the VIB sephora sales + black friday and boxing day sales!!
I like this form of decluttering.. kind of like pre-decluttering? Declutter before it actually becomes clutter in your collection that you'll have to declutter.

You have wayyyyyy more willpower than I do! Good for you. I'm way too impulsive and regret a lot of my purchases.
Haha honestly Lynn it is still hard sometimes for me too but when you wait its surprising how much your feelings can change (why I made the orange trial section 3 months). I also watch a lot of project panners so I'm always reminded by those videos that makeup will expire before we use it up. So it keeps me focused on only bringing in really special things that add something different to my collection.
Just wow 😲 this was really helpful for me to put purchases in perspective. I know I buy way too much 😣 but this is encouraging!
I find knowing the total of the wishlist super helpful too! I should probably do another one of these makeup wishlist declutters soon, it's gotten filled up again 😅 but we're makeup lovers so thats part of the process I can like new releases but only the very best will make it through the wishlist to be purchased!
This was very interesting, thank you! My makeup collection is quite small and curated, the only items I really long for are eyeshadow palettes and brushes. I used to have backups for the other products, like bronzers, foundation etc., but realized it takes so much time to use them up I really don't need to do that, so I don't even feel compelled to purchase new ones untill I'm really done with what I have (finished or tired...). For the brush organizer: I have one of those, paid 30€ (I'm Italian), but I had to buy separately more pearls and still my brushes won't stay put. I had to insert something to divide the big space inside, otherwise the brushes tend to fall. I wouldn't repurchase it if I may be honest, too expensive for what it is! I'm watching your older videos, amazing how you are able to recreate the shades, how do you do that?!? I mean, I would not know what colours to mix to obtain a specific shade, you are really an artist! 😊
I totally get it, I think eyeshadow palettes are the one thing that always feel new and different! I ended up buying too many foundations + concealers at once a couple years ago and this year I buckled down in my 21 in 2021 project pan to use them up. So I also feel the same in that I'll probably keep 1 or 2 at one time and only buy more once those are done! Thank you for sharing that great insight about the brush organizer! I've basically just decorated a jar and keep my brushes in that in the display cabinet now and I think it works well. Aaah thank you I'm so happy to hear you enjoy my Make it or Buy it videos :D Sometimes even I go into it thinking can I really make this shade?? But just add little by little and trust the colour wheel theory! Y'know thats how all brands make eyeshadows just a mixture of pigments. I also learn something new in each video (like in the cinderella sigma one I learned how to mix multichromes which was a bit daunting at first but it worked out! I do speed up the videos so they're around 40 minutes but making a full palette usually takes me about 5-7 hours because I'm taking my time adding each colour, swatching to check, pressing each shade and washing the mortar between shades. But to me its fun and really rewarding to be able to make "new" eyeshadows I want to purchase but using old eyeshadows.
@@brainsbeauty I still think you are specially talented for that, I never really got how to mix colours properly, perhaps because I don't have so much patience! 🤣🤣🤣 Now I'm focused on trying to depot my palettes so that I can have all my eyeshadows as singles, but I don't want to ruin the packagings cause I love them too, so I started using an induction cooker just yesterday and it seems it's working. I did it only with my oldest palette, which was expired anyways and the cardboard also got loose, but it's just a matter of glueing it back together. When I see a new palette I like I try to dupe the vibes, even if my eyeshadows are not a 100% match. Sometimes I understand that I really like only some shades and I decide if I want the original one based on how many I'd really use and if they are that unique to me, other times I end up not loving the colour story, so it's easier to pass. The thing is that even if my collection is curated, I still own too many eyeshadows, and I feel something's wrong if I buy new ones 🤷🏼♀️
@@ericafait3082 Well thank you, you're so sweet! 💕I have always been very picky about exact shades and colours since I love to match my outfits perfectly so I do have an eye for colour in that way haha. Ooh good luck with all your depotting! I also love my palettes in their packaging but wanted to do dupe the vibes too so thats why I did my "140 sample eyeshadows video". For me thats a way I came up with to have a sample of the colour in my palettes to do duping the vibe videos while also keeping the majority of the eyeshadows in their palettes. I have been doing quite a few Make it or Buy it videos, but I think duping the vibes is also really fun and will hopefully upload some soon! Honestly you're so right we learn so much about a colourstory by getting to play with it before purchasing. Its actually so much fun too its like you get to still keep up with new releases and be inspired by them but not splurge if you don't need to. We're on the same wavelength, I'm also trying not to bring into too many new eyeshadows if I can dupe them or make them. But my weakness right now is multichromes because they're harder to find in palettes so I don't have many. I'm still trying to be mindful and experimenting with mixing some multichromes I do own to see if they can dupe other multichromes 😂.
