Side, Antalya, Turkey WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

- We've just spent 7 days In the region of Antalya in Turkey.
We had an amazing time there and there is so much to do, we just wished we would've had a video like this to go by before we went.
From the currency, places to go and see, what to expect, the cost, I've tried to cover it all in this video.
If there's anything else you'd like to know just drop a comment below!
Our hotel was called 'Kaya Side', the hotel was just above average although we did have a nice time there and the staff/ location was good enough for us.
If you're an English speaker like us it was more difficult as we were the only English guests and the hotel entertainment was more aimed at German and Russian audiences.
Overall it was a great holiday and the entire Antalya region was incredible, we'd go again!
Thanks for the video very informative! Good to get a perspective from someone who's not just there for the beach/pool type holiday
Thank you! We loved it there, I’m in Istanbul as of writing this comment. Turkey is an amazing country!
Thanks so much mate, I am preparing to go nearby, and I found this information very useful 👍🙏🏽
No problem, enjoy your trip 🤙🏻!
Thanks Josh, we've just booked to visit Side and were happy to see that you found local buses.
Enjoy, thanks for comment 🙌🏻!
Great video, thanks. Very informative. Going to Side in June and will definitely visit the historical sites.
Thanks! It’s a cool place 🙌🏻
thanx for a great video!! we are off to Side in June, and have flown into all 4 airports over the years...... as you say Turkey needs to be explored.....the look on my wife's face when she picked an orange off a tree for the first time was priceless...
Thanks for the comment!! It's amazing, so much more to offer than just the weather

Very nice video. Thank you for uploading. I'm travelling to Side next week. Would love to ride in that Pimped van. Any idea how to order it ?
Haha, I thought I saved the phone number for them but couldn’t get hold of them to book on the return journey.
I’ve got a great contact for good value local tours though if you’re interested?
Great video, I was in Side in 1992 that's a while back LoL and as you can imagine I was a bit younger but you're right Side has a Roman amphitheatre the Greek temple to Apollo (don't forget Turkey didn't exist back then and it was just part of the Greek empire until the Romans) that you caught in you video next to that temple are the ruins of a Byzantium monastery and the main road into Side is lined with Roman columns or what's left of them, Side was more expensive than Manavgat back then too but not like it is now unfortunately since President Erdogan took over he's managed to almost destroy the economy and they have galloping inflation which is sadly making it a destination that's not as popular as it used to be, another year of this and it will have priced itself out of the market all together, shame because as you said it really is a beautiful country and the Turks are very friendly too, I had a great time there. Well thanks for your vlog
Thanks for your comment Jim, I can imagine it’s changed a bit since then. I’ve learned a lot from this comment. Maybe hire you for a tour guide next time haha
Just booked today, going in September for the first time
I hope you enjoy it, Turkey is an amazing country
@@joshbonthemove Thankyou so much 😁
Looook at them numbeeeerrrsss! 👀👀👀
:-)
i myself have been to side 7 times now, after watching this i understood that i barerly saw nothing the last time i went to Side.
It was only when we got there that we realised the same, so many things to do and see in the area! Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
That one time in the water had a nirvana aspect to it😂
Great video. Very helpful. Would you recommend all inclusive or eating out????
Good question. I think if there was a good deal on going all inclusive or your hotel is out the way then yes. If you’re in the centre or want to be out more then eating out 👍🏻
Loved your video it is so insightful!! Where did you guys find the buggys and how long was the ride? would love to do it when I go Turkey. :)
Thank you. We used this company for all our tours ; Book from Locals Sidé +90 (501) 296 47 45 this is their WhatsApp , I believe we were riding for about 45-60 mins
Thank you Josh 🙌🎉@@joshbonthemove
Great vlog... were looking at Side area for week next month. How much was the Buggy hire? Alsp did you hire a car? Looking at hiring a car instead of the week , the private taxi we were quoted was £120 for return or we can have a car hire for the week £170 which thinking gives us flexibility to explore more.
Sounds like a good call to rent the car if that’s the case tbh. Just make sure the rental company is reputable first 👌🏻. Can’t remember what we paid for the buggy tour but it was good value and was from a company called ‘Book from locals Sidé’ - you can find the em on Google 🤙🏻
Great video thank you! I'm going to Side early July. Did you prebook excursions from the UK via something like Tripadvisor, or did you pay for them there? Trying to work out what is more cost effective.
We booked when we were there, we used a company called ‘booked from locals Sidè’ - they were cheaper and the excursions were good!
@@joshbonthemove perfect thank you!
Very informative, we're off to Antalya very shortly. In terms of cheaper touristy areas... Where exactly?
Thanks. Manavgat and Antalya city would be two areas that are cheaper I believe. They’re definitely cheaper than Sidé old town
Great video. We are going to Side in august. Which transfer company did you book?
Thanks :) we didn’t book a transfer, we caught a taxi although you can use ‘Book from locals Sidé’ who will look after you
What back pack do you have ?
I’m looking at getting a better one for my next trip to side

What month was this? After watching other videos of the area myself and wife have booked Side for end of April. Very helpful videos enjoyed that one 👍
Thanks Stephen. This was the end of May, the weather was perfect for us (we like the heat). I'm sure the weather will be great in April too!
Who was the buggy tour with? Definitely interested in that
The company we booked through were called ‘Book from Locals Sidé’ - you’ll find them on Google 👍🏻
Hey man im thinking of getting the mic you use in the beginning, but the audio sounds rather bad here, was it turned off?
I like the mic but you’re right haha. I noticed around 6 months after posting this that I wasn’t using it right and this was raw audio from my phone. It’s a good mic, I was just using it wrong. DJI also do a good mic that I’ve seen people use
Thanks for the quick answer man. Enjoyed your video, well be going to Side next week!
Hay there. Question. What was the quad place you went to. We going in July and the quad experience looks amazing
It was booked through a company called ‘Book from locals Sidé’ , here’s their WhatsApp contact +90 (501) 296 47 45
Thank you
Just booked with them. It's saying no phones are aloud. I take it you had a video so can you attach a gopro on the buggy
Spontanious going in a week 🤭
Enjoy! It’s a beautiful place 👌🏻
Where is the most affordable place to stay? Is there public transport did you use it?
If you’re not bothered about being near the sea, Manavgat will be cheaper. Otherwise anywhere outside of Sidé old town. Just check what is in the surrounding area to your accommodation so it suits your needs
What month did you go? Does anyone know how hot it gets in June ?
We went at the end of May, I think June would be a perfect month to go too with July and August being the hottest months (depends what you like)
What type of cam u use, in buggy swimming.....
GoPro 👍🏻
What is the best season to travel to Antalya
May & September will likely be the nicest, June July & August will be peak heat. Also nice but it depends on your preferences, the other months will be cooler
Hi! where did you find the offride adventure ride? :)
Booked it from a company called ‘book from locals Sidé’ , great prices and communication through WhatsApp 👌🏻
@@joshbonthemove thanks man, ill check it out
What travel company did you use?
Blue sea holidays from the UK :)
Hi where did you stay
A hotel called ‘Kaya Side’ - it was a nice enough hotel but the entertainment/ music/ setup isn’t aimed at English speaking guests
Where in side we can drive buggies and atv?
Get in touch with “book from local sidé”, here’s their contact details - +90 (501) 296 47 45
What shoes were you wearing to drive that buggy?
I had water shoes on I believe mate (I can’t really remember tho), I definitely wouldn’t wear anything that I wanted to keep clean!
@@joshbonthemove thanks for getting back. I'm wanting to do this next month.
Would this be a good place to go as a single dad to take a child??
I’d say definitely, plenty of things to do for the little one and plenty of things to do/ see for you. Also a nice place to relax and chill if you’re on duty 👍🏻
how are they with english speaking there ?
Most of them can speak English and Russian fluently. Some can speak basic German
It depends a fair amount. In our resort English was very limited for most of the staff but in other more local areas and other resorts and hotels English will be more than adequate to communicate everything you need. Hope this helps 🤙🏻
Bro payed the tourist prices
Bro was in the tourist areas, bro was on holiday, as a tourist, paying tourist prices… cheers bro
Bro got the tourist prices on everything.
Pro tip: ONLY pay in TRY. If they don't allow it, move on because they're scammers.
Bro was in the tourist areas, bro was on holiday, as a tourist, paying tourist prices… cheers bro
Looking to go in may,are there loads of Russians in this area
There were where we went but I think if you book through an English travel company then you’ll be more likely to go to a hotel more aimed at English entertainment/ food etc 👍🏻
