Thank you for taking time to respond. I have a problem with the disassembly/reassembly of the Savage-Stevens Model 820 B shotgun. I was given one
by a friend. I has never been cleaned and as I set out to do so I attempted to remove and clean the trigger assembly. I have followed your instructions on the assembly's removal. However, in order of double checking, before I removed the trigger guard assemble retaining pin for cleaning, I first decided to reverse the process of disassembly, one step at a time. In doing so, I find the trigger guard screw (male) will not "re-seat" into its threads (female), which are visible inside the right side of the receiver. No matter what I attempt, I cannot return the leading threads to their intended union within the receiver, and therefore cannot return the trigger guard screw 'head' to its flush position on the port (left) side of the receiver. I have tried everything I can conjure to assure the alignment is correct. I can turn the screw, and can see it rotating inside the threaded 'female' interior on the right side of the receiver, yet it will not seat in these threads, regardless of my efforts. Do you by chance have a suggestion, or some trick to accomplish this? Am I going about this process incorrectly?

wondering if u have any suggestions regarding why the lift gate doesn't move all the way up when pumping with a shell
I was given on of these shotguns for helping clean up an estate. I don’t see any indication of the choke of the barrel. It a conventional barrel without a poly choke. How would I be able to determine the choke?
Can you explain how to remove the safety button from the trigger guard assembly?

I watched both of your 820B videos. I cannot, however, determine how to remove the barrel for a regular cleaning. Can you either explain it or do a video on it?
Following the steps to this point in the other video will leave your barrel unobstructed for cleaning from the breach: ua-cam.com/video/zt7GrN5A9t8/v-deo.htmlm35s I just slide the action open, press the loading gate up, and drop a bore snake down the barrel. No disassembly required.
Thank you for your reply. After cleaning, I plan to refurbish the metal by spraying with Durablue (similar to Duracoat) and refinish the wood. To refinish the metal for spray painting, it seems to me that I will need to separate the barrel from the receiver. Your videos do an excellent job of explaining how to remove the fore stock and butt stock. But what about the barrel? Is it not designed for removal?

So I have a Stevens 77a and when I took it apart the slide lock and spring fell off ? It’s different then this one it’s L shaped. Where does it go ? It’s not broken as it looks as a new or replacement for 77a looks. I just have no idea how it goes back in ? Please help
Do you have to hold the slide release on the shotgun when pumping it after firing a live round?

J Sanders Google "Numrich" gunpartscorp, browse manufacturers by letter "S", then select "Savage/Stevens/Springfield/Fox". You will see the 820 near the bottom of the list. The "Lifter Spring #160070a" (#34) and "Lifter Prawl Spring #160300A" (#41) are probably what you need, but are both sold out right now. The Prawl is also shown near the end of the list.
Watch for them to come back in stock. Unfortunately, I can't attach a picture, but the springs only fit one way, and the lifter-springs-prawl stay together as the lifter assembly.
I know about and have checked there, but I needed to see one working. Thanks though.

Hi. I have a 820B, and it worked fine. I removed the stock and trigger to clean the shotgun, and after I put all back again, I can't operate the slide and/or press the trigger unless I press the slide lock. I want to use the shotgun for hunting, but I can't use it like this. Any ideas?
I removed the trigger and put the hammer back. It gets locked by the slide lock. Is that supposed to happen???

TheShredBox Yes. It does.
It could be an out-of-spec slidelock spring (too long), or a weak hammer spring (not enough pressure to keep the hammer forward against the firing pin), or a dirty firing pin channel (keeping the firing pin from going all the way forward).
Unless you meant that you can't pull the trigger once you've loaded a round into the chamber (you can't fire the shotgun even after cycling it using the slide lock lever). That would be something between the trigger and the safety
TheShredBox The slide lock is supposed to be the whole way down? Because, mine isn't I can mode the hammer a little bit forwar and the slide lock moves down a few milimeters. Maybe that's why I neeed to press the slide lock to open the bolt even when the hammer isn't cocked. If I pull back the hammer and release it, the slide lock stays half the way down. It doesn't touch the bottom. Hope you can understand what I'm saying!
The slidelock needs to move down enough to release the slide when the hammer is released. It sounds like an out-of-spec slidelock spring. But that's the best I could figure without having it in front of me.
