I absolutely love mixing design styles, so this is super helpful. I would love to see more videos on mixing design styles because I feel like most people have tastes that are mixed or even wildly different, and it can be hard to marry those. Especially if you're a couple, and you each have different design styles!
Thank you this was so helpful! My grandmother passed away and left me her beautiful furniture pieces but they do not fit the rest of my home, this is a great guide to mixing the styles. More of this content please!
Nick! Just wanted to say that I love your videos and I showed your channel to my parents. Now we always watch your stuff when I come over to visit, it’s such a nice way to chill out with something light hearted and it’s a nice avenue to think and talk about art together. Thanks for the content 🙏 you’re hilarious and so insightful
Thank you, the same applies for the way we dress, to make balanced outfit. Not too classic, not too trendy, not too retro etc. But I never thought about it for my home.
I love the use of indicators to highlight what was used for each design style. I think it could be super beneficial for someone like me who might miss the obvious :) That is if you do a more in depth video on mixing design styles. Also, if you haven’t done one already and I missed it (please refer to previous statement for my excuse) Either way, more visual examples of combinations that work (or don’t work) would be really interesting and helpful. Thanks for all of your work! p.s. Love the facial hair.
OMG I love this idea! My partner and I recently moved into a new home on the coast and I think we agree on MCM but still kind of want that coastal vibe, but also really like scandi. 80/20 gives me a great way to structure our different styles so it's not so everything all at once lol
Pretty please talk about Gothic/Dark Victorian design style - it’s so easy for this vibe to look cheesy and theme-y but when done well it’s so whimsical and romantic 🥀
I've given up on figuring out a design style. I love principles of design like symmetry, scaling, and dimension, but I just do what I like with those principles and avoid trends (at least I think I do lol)
Can you make a video about how to integrate your preferred design style of your home when your home is a different style (i.e I'd love to do more dark academia in my super traditional home)
That looked more like 20 Fr. Prov. (moldings and chandelier) and 80 Post-Mod (everything else)! Are we talking square footage or the number of design elements?
I'm working on this myself - my main floor is a combo of MCM and industrial, but trying to find a sofa that both fits the look but is also comfortable and high quality is a massive pain, thanks to 99% of furniture being complete garbage these days.
I started my mood board with bohemian + Modern. I've spiralled so far that the only thing I'm sure of is base colours white, black and light oak, with old gold finishes. It's been 20 years living in a depressing home and I finally have a budget incoming for full reno. My personalty leans towards Boho and farmstyle. I really tried to shake it off, but I'm stuck. Additionally I'll be adding a blue couch, woodgrain porcelain matt tiles and a touch of green as well. Does this make sense?
Too many rules take the fun out of decorating. Yes, know the rules but then decorate until you like the asthetic, cohesiveness, and the comfort that you create.
Could we have another video on this topic? I think it's very interesting
Yes pls
I do have another short on this but no longform YT videos yet... ua-cam.com/users/shortsDYed4DhirAw
@@Nick_Lewis Thank you Nick 😊 (it helped)

Love the facial scruff!
The kitty was a nice touch too.😊
Very glam
Ok, but that new look of yours? Absolutely love it!

This deserves its own video!
Love the way you describe things! I’m a very visual learner, so I appreciate you including pictures of what you’re talking about. ❤
What percentage of cat is required ? I felt the mid-century/glam was very much enhanced by the vip on the sofa.
In my opinion you need at least 3 felines to fill my style

Am I the only one who noticed that they clearly used the colors in the cat for the room? So cute. 😺
I only have dogs that match my style.
Love the different look you're sporting for this installment. You carry it off well.
Just commenting to tell you Nick that beard is 🔥🔥
WOW, excellent short!!
On a completely unrelated topic, I’m liking the scruff on Nick 😘
Same. It’s a good look
Wow...totally new concept to me...have to think about, what my favourite styles are now...this is overwhelming!
This is really educational! I would love you to speak more about thus topic!
What a cool concept! This is for those of us who can see the beauty in many different styles. 😊
Fantastic. And your facial hair and coif are on point 👌🏼

The bouquet in the orange vase looks like a little dog at first glance 😆 Unintentionally cute!
If you can't see it, squint a little
Yes it does, a Maltese dog 😂❤
Im currently doing the master bedroom in Art Deco & Art Nouveau. It's gorgeous! 🎉
You know I love Art Deco. Fabulous choices!
Glam as an accent is beautiful! Art Deco or Art Nuevo is also fantastic. Just a touch here and there.

More on this topic, please! Fellow new mover here, and I can’t figure out how to blend my love of Art Deco with a cozy coastal vibe
Didn’t watch the video yet, but gotta tell you that I’m loving the beginning beard! ❤️
80:20 rule applies so well to most everything in life!
I love this! Our space is mostly English Countryside but then has a hint of Japanese midcentury.
So helpful, thanks Nick 😊
You are rocking the stubble! I'm renovating in Industrial/Japandi!
Love to see more in-depth examples.
Wow you’re very handsome with the stubble now!😎

Love the new look❤
Thank you! Your videos are so helpful.
Any ideas for styles that could soften/warm up industrial style as a complement?
Lovely how bout more of this love love the color!
Nick, the scruffy look suits you! 😍
Very interesting. Thank you
What is that stunning wooden slatted chair in the beginning of the video? Fabulous!

Alright now, check you out! 🥰
❤❤❤ this!!
I’m moving into my first apartment and I want to try to make a mid century modern/grandma core work 😊
Shabby chic. 80% shabby 20% chic.
What about the 60-30-10 rule? Isn’t that close to the golden mean/ Fibonacci sequence which is the basis for the Rule of Thirds?
That scruff thooooo 👀 ❤
Nick, could you make a video about all design types?
If you check out his list of videos you'll find one that covers lots of styles and other videos that each focus on just one style.
@@deborahrombouts9958 Awsome, thank you!
I love your content. ♥️
What is this fresh haircut and stubble hotness??? 🙌🏻😮💨
How about using different styles in different rooms. How could one do that without looking too themey?
Right? I have no clue!
That looked more like 20 Fr. Prov. (moldings and chandelier) and 80 Post-Mod (everything else)! Are we talking square footage or the number of design elements?

Great video.
The daisies on the coffee table in the mid C/Glam video looks like a dog face. Lol

Yes, I think it sounds elegant and comfortable.
I've got 80% trash heap to 20% donations. That's just the style my pocketbook can afford.
Mine is 80% hand-me-downs and 20% thrifted.
The words at the end are covered by app stuff. Darnit!
Not related... but love the beard ! 👀 👀
What about mixing 3 styles 😂😂😂 I love elements of mid century modern, japanese zen and contemporary modern 😂😂😂 what ratio should that be?
What happened to buying what you like?
trying to manage 80% Ikea + 20% goth
So you are just gonna paint everything black?
@@muellmanni1678 considering pieces that already come in black (armoires etc) or just doing accent pieces in black (undecided lol)
@@venusburgh I see.

Let’s talk about this beard though
Just joking here because we love you: put up the clock! Even with duct tape. Or hold it up on your knee.
Nice beard goodlooking
Something looks different about you
yeah, the clock is missing from behind :)
can we talk about how handsome you are in this video?
80% cat, 20% dog
Unconvincing demonstratipn ,better to stick to one style per room rather than mixing different styles in the same room.
Slow hdown, you're speaking too fast! Why?
