If you want to pick up your own (or anything else from Green Stuff World) head to www.greenstuffworld.com and use this PROMO CODE FOR %5 DISCOUNT: BMCFALL2018 (expires 31/12/2018)
I have used these for a while and love them! As a note on the 45 degree use. I put one at 45 with a guide on both side then run the top one in standard vertical or horizontal.
I've wanted to replace bits of cabling that broke on some fragile resin models but didn't have a way to replicate the textures on the tubing, this stuff would've helped.
If you set one plate in a standard orientation, and offset the other at 45 degrees, you can get a knurled pattern. I have a set. I haven't used them really for anything yet but I thought they would be something handy to have around. I have also been toying with the idea of putting thin wire inside the green stuff to be able to bend it how I want once it dries since green stuff is semi flexible once cured.
These are awesome to also use all kinds of hoses for mech units, for war hammer 40k especially for adeptus mechanicus they are awesome. If you want the rigid hoses or mechandendrites, use a thin metal wire with green stuff around it, put in place, bend as you like it’ll stay in shape instead of sag down.
This looks amazing, will be very useful for piping and other connectors as well as organic things. Have been looking at this for a while very impressed.
I've used them on my polymer clay dragon eye sculpture hex boxes. I'm not sure why why I hadn't thought to run any extra green stuff through them, I usually just sculpt rocks or spheres or something with the extra. So thanks for putting that thought in my brain! Also thanks for the promo code, I've been contemplating an order from them again and now seems like a good time.
I'm sure you could come up with all kinds of ideas. I do like the idea of using them as a spell marker by gluing a few to a larger base (one that'll fit around another base) as a marker for hold person or something of the sort. I'd imagine with flocking and leaf shaping you could make vines for your ruins.
Mini revelation. That's a very useful little whatsit. I tend to use guitar strings for cabling or tubing. The big E string has great texture. They are a good scale for 28mm. But you can't bend it much when you use a small peice. Sometimes it pays to be a terrible guitarist 😂 LOLZ
I'm quite sure you should have put up the second half bracket too when using it diagonally, then run the upper layer normally between the two guide, that way the two pattern would have had a 45 degree angle between them. Anyway interesting product. I won't be buying it my self tough, I'm not doing much sculpting yet, not to mention tentacle stuff :D
Just watched a few of the videos, and they do wet the green stuff (not the molds, but whatever works) with water before rolling to help reduce sticking.
How large of an XL tentacle are we talking about? If I'm doing a lifesize xenomorph skull, can I make half inch or ¾ inch diameter cables/hoses? Does this stuff work with Foam Clay or only epoxy clays and the like? Could it be used to texture EVA Foam sheet, by heating the sheet and pressing these onto it?
Hi Jeremy from the past... it is 2024 and I just found your channel and exploits... I am enjoying you and your craft!. Old guy from Minnesota. Hope to meet you at a Con.
Been wanting to buy this for a long time! Needed to know this if the small and large one's line gaps a the same ? Just the lage one extends more lines? Or is the large one's line gaps are wider?
Hi. You could make a video demonstration with the ROLL MAKER XL. And compare the tentacles and templates of the ROLL MAKER STANDARD with the XL. Thank you very much. Greetings from Spain.
At first I thought 'meh, how many tentacles does a guy need?', but after seeing the potential piping that can be made this seemed a lot more viable. Would still rather try to make a version of my own with more customisation though(eg. adding or removing grooves for larger/smaller or even uneven spacing)
Will the code still work, I just ordered some rolling pins, saw these on there but didn’t get them this time... thought they might be handy for chaos conversions tho 🤷♂️🤔🐶🦴
Do not, DO NOT use this with oven bake clay. My first uses were with Sculpey. My initial thought was if the result was lackluster, I could retry before baking. Sculpey lacked firmness and squished into the grooves. I made many, many efforts to remove the gummed up residuals to no avail (soaking in water for days followed by extensive toothbrush sessions); extreme efforts with rubbing alcohol only created a strange melting bond between the Sculpey and the affected plates. Ultimately 2 sets of my plates were destroyed through test uses, which sadly included use of green-stuff purchased from Green Stuff World (the maker of this product).
The demonstration video GSW filmed and posted themselves uses Sculpey. I’ll have to try it myself to be sure but I can’t imagine it causing the problems you describe, not sure what happened there.
Since the product offers absolutely no instructions (at least the version I purchased) please allow me to offer some advice. Use this product with 2 part sculpting composites like green or brown stuff allowing a brief curing period. The curing time should be longer for softer putties. Applying water to the plates to resist stickiness is advisable for inorganic items, but without H2o the slight deformations tend to look more organic. The alignment on the plates has a huge effect. At 6:20 only one side is assembled with a guide rail. A second guide rail could easily be added opposite of the 1st which produces VERY satisfying result. This is actually a GREAT tool but I wish there was some more information other than looking for the company's website videos after I had already ruined 2 sets of plates.
Yea, there’s really no excuse for not having some basic instructions included. I don’t understand why. This might be a simple tool once you know how to use it but it’s not actually that intuitive out of the package.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial I'm sorry to interrupt your thread, my second response was supposed to be one comment but my phone split it as I was typing. The instructional video I saw was ua-cam.com/video/InIiFlWarrY/v-deo.html. I actually still have packs of the Sculpey I bought and never used at the time I did my tests. After 2 years it is indeed much less tacky but I don't think I would risk any attempts with my last set of plates (this really is a cool product after all, and the use I get out of my last set of plates is substantial). I would totally recommend this product to you, or anyone else who would employ it in a manner I think you would. I only want to advise users not to use these with anything too sticky... no superglue, no white glue+baking soda. Keep these things clean and debris free and they will serve you well.
dude i love this channel and i think this is awesome! but if your getting free product and a kickback on the sales of the product how is this not sponsored? is sponsored when you get paid up front? free product is not sponsoring? please dont banhammer me. just unsure the wording is correct here
Sponsored videos on UA-cam usually require or dictate what the content creator can or cannot say about the product. They come off more like advertisements than honest reviews. Given he was quite upfront about the situation *before* the review, it allows the viewer to take the review with the appropriately sized grain of salt.
A sponsored video is one that was paid explicitly or given stuff to make a review for. If they don't require him by contract to make a video about the stuff he receives, just send a sample and MAYBE create a video about it if he likes, then it's technically free stuff, but not sponsor.
Hmm perhaps you're right. At least it was classy to mention it being received for free. On the other hand getting a promo code to share with your viewers. This is a very gray area imho.
Well every single UA-cam-er is doing this, at least those who I follow. This is how they can get some new stuff their hands on if they don't receive anything for free. This is not only for creators btw :) I'm not a UA-cam-er, but if it happens that you order from Element Games and you have no promo code to enter add this: TAM2102 It will give double amount of crystal for you and I get crystals too :D

Some of these textures would make good horns for antelope or demons.
I've wanted to replace bits of cabling that broke on some fragile resin models but didn't have a way to replicate the textures on the tubing, this stuff would've helped.
Green Stuff World consistently has some of the coolest little hobby implements. I love their leaf punches and rollers.

Looks like it'd be good for tentacles, vines, cables, and the big one may even do cool textured wall patches.
As an ad mech player this would be awesome for kitbashing

I know its like 2 years in but love the review, straight to the point very authentic.
That's actually some great stuff to add some details on constructions and make rope bridges, etc. Thanks for the review!
Somehow rope never came to mind for me, but TOTALLY! would work great for adding little rope details to things.
I'm sure you could come up with all kinds of ideas.

I ran across these the other week. Will definitely be picking up a set when I get around to placing my next greenstuffworld order!
Thanks mate, I was looking for something to make some vine like pieces and this video helped me out a lot. Cheers

Anyway interesting product. I won't be buying it my self tough, I'm not doing much sculpting yet, not to mention tentacle stuff :D
Or if you just want the corkscrew effect, run the top plate with the flat side.
With the second tentacle, it looks like you created a pyramid studded texture. The first one reminded me of rebar.
Got these delivered today. Going to attempt to create The Worm That Walks.
Just watched a few of the videos, and they do wet the green stuff (not the molds, but whatever works) with water before rolling to help reduce sticking.
The perpendicular placement gives me some serious spine vibes to add on to an alien type thing.
That big set going in opposite direction looks like a spinal cord
Sounds good for making hentai and hentai accessories.
Rule 34 is strong within you
Looks like a great craft tool, I would get a lot of use out of it making sci-fi / industrial mini bases.

And compare the tentacles and templates of the ROLL MAKER STANDARD with the XL.

Greetings from Spain.
Yes! Please! To know the difference in the stripes pattern size!
Nice video. They are an interesting product. There is no way I could ever sculpt those designs on my own.
Just got one of these seems you can make some interesting combinations great review.
I use the basic version all the time for basing miniatures and some terrain.
I’m so glad you reviewed this. I was going to pick up the xl one but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Keep the reviews coming. They’re great
Nice to see this in 'action' so to speak...got hold of the XL version earlier in the year but haven't got the courage to start GS work as yet...
Giant creepy insect/worms.... that's what I kept thinking of as you where making them.
At first I thought 'meh, how many tentacles does a guy need?', but after seeing the potential piping that can be made this seemed a lot more viable. I would like to have some with uneven spacing as well, that would be very useful.
Oh yeah! Iron Hands cable city here I come!
Maybe one could use these to make corrugated steel sheets (out of aluminum foil?) for diorama?
That cross hatch would make a good Mace head.
I'd be interested to see how a sculptor uses this for the layering addition sculpt method. Bet some wacky textures are possible.
Salamanders and alpha legion space marines ;)
Great review. I still like your finger puppet/pen cap tenticals more.
Keep it up man great work!
Seen this done before he used those black "unbreakable" combs. cheaper and most people already have one
Will the code still work, I just ordered some rolling pins, saw these on there but didn’t get them this time... thought they might be handy for chaos conversions tho 🤷♂️🤔🐶🦴
Nvm just saw it expired 😞🐶
can you use milliput with it?
weird... and very interesting! Thanks J!

Good and fun tool, really.
I think this would work great for cabling on my Garland cars
Oooo will wait for the promo code then definitely gonna buy.
Promo code is up, BMCFALL2018
Thank You Very Much!
thx, made my buing decision much easier!
Bravo, mi piaci. Vorrei aver avuto il tempo, il coraggio o la pazienza di portare avanti anch'io un hobby come il tuo
I was just looking at this the other day while ordering blue stuff and wondering if it was worth it. Coupon code wish I waited to order my blue stuff.
You should check out the website hero forge, I think it's for war hammer, but it's really cool I would enjoy a video on it
Would this also work with boogers, or is it only clay?
tryed them with the greenstuff of greenstuff world, did absolutly not work
Timing :( I put in an order just yesterday.
No examples on how to make the sort of tentacles they advertise as being made in pictures on the site. It's neat, but doesn't work as advertised.

This thing was stolen from masquerade miniatures. Not better then any recasted minis.
Meh
7:28 It's called lubricant. Congrats on never watching porn.
That's the porn joke you make? Not something about the gratuitous use of tentacles in this video? Congratulations on never watching hentai.
