This guy is low-key hilarious.
Your udemy bootcamp course is my best udemy purchase yet
I found it funny how his dog is called Rusty Steele. :)
Likewise
@@MongooseTacticool It is part of the family, he's adopted it so one day it really knows its surname, it will cry tears of joy and declare him the best Dog owner in the Universe LOL
Yes great bootcamp!
same here
Thanks for the shoutout to CSS Peek Colt! It means a lot for my work to be featured :)
Great plugin Pranay. Keep up your great work.
I don't know why css peek is not working for me. When I press f12 it states: "No definition found " whereas the class is working fine. Any idea what can cause this problem?
@@ektormakras7949 Restarting VSCode did the job for me.
This plug-in is such a time-saver, thank you :)
Your plugin is such a time saver. Thanks so much.
I feel like I've been living under a rock all this time.

The most comprehensive coverage of VSC extensions I've viewed so far on UA-cam. I'll be using Live Server for sure. Excellent video, Colt! Looking forward to more. Thank you.
Colt, man you're the best! I didn't know you had a youtube channel until I came across this video and this just hit me with a blast of nostalgia from when I followed your web boot-camp. You still rock man!
Awesome stuff! Keep going! Much Love!
Yo, Colt! I love your content. It's been a great help in me re-starting my tech career, AND, as a teacher myself, I can tell you that I also have to deal with people heckling you and giving you BS just because. I hope that it helps you to know that it's just their feeble attempts to feel better about themselves when they actually feel horrid. BUT YOU are helping lots of people to feel better about themselves while being generous and positive, and THAT is infinitely more valuable in the world. Thank you!
my thoughts exactly! ppl online can bark so loud but upfront, nada! its like backbiting... ppl talk behind your back. here ppl talk behind the curtain of internet...
Hey Colt, I’ve just started your web dev bootcamp on Udemy. You are an AMAZING teacher mate. I have learnt so much already! Thanks for everything you’re doing man.
I didn't even realize that the video was 20min long !! Enjoyed it. Thanks, Colt
Colt, you got amazing teaching skills. Actually i found you in udemy (js-algorithms-and-data-structures-masterclass). A butter smooth learning experience with my worst nightmare(Data structure/Algorithms). I just Admire the friendly approach you take while teaching, that actually makes me feel you are part of my close friend circle. This should be an irrelevant comment for others who dont follow you for a while. But most of your students will agree. Keep going!! Keep us educated. 🤓
I really wish i can buy the course i'm in real need to it .... I'd be grateful if you have a coupon ☺️😉
Same here.....but I've taken web dev course instead but i'll surely try this too thanks
I completely agree, Siva.
"Settings Sync" is a *_MUST HAVE_* !!!
Seriously, it should be part of VSCode by default.
What does it do?
@@arwahsapi It allows you to Synchronize ALL YOUR SETTINGS (and installed extensions) via GitHub's Gist. Therefore, any time you need to install VSCode you can get back all your config quickly. Extremely useful to share the configs between multiple machines too!
Holy shit thats a thing EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Just found that. Thanks! Great addition.
VS Code amazes me because it's a Microsoft product that feels like the exact opposite of what most Microsoft products are. It doesn't have so many features that it's impossible to learn, but it also isn't so focused on user-friendliness that it's incredibly difficult to customize. It's also one of the few Microsoft products that doesn't try to force you to use other Microsoft software. Seriously, the fact that it not only supports custom shells for the terminal, but also automatically detects shells like git bash with no configuration is something I would have never expected from a Microsoft product.
Very grateful, they were just what I wanted, and I loved the explanations, it makes it a lot easier, much faster than reading the entire documentation. Subscribed!
I came here from your Udemy Bootcamp course, its so great !!! I recommend it ! Thanks for the VSCode extensions suggestions :)
Thank you for mentioning all of extensions in description.
Colt! Love your videos on udemy, your teaching method is effective for me and the content is awesome. Keep em coming 👌🏾
I'm one of your Udemy students! Love your jokes, and even your cat!
I really loved your udemy webdev bootcamp and now started a coding bootcamp in my city and they recommend VSC. First I was like "noo I have to to continue working with sublime" because that is what I had learned from you. But I am happy to see that you use VSC now too and the bracket pair colorizer is worth gold. Thank you so much Colt!
Colt, you are a amazing teacher. I am currently doing your course- the web developer bootcamp on udemy and I am absolutely loving it.
Please keep on doing what you are doing and keep teaching.
Colt, F*ckin awesome video man! Much appreciated, and it's so very helpful. Really looking forward to your VSCode extensions video for Python too. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Colt for these useful extensions!! Currently I'm taking your Web Developer Bootcamp in Udemy and I changed Sublime for VS Code in Bootstrap 4 section. I don't regret :D
Thanks Colt! you're an awesome teacher. I wish you the best for your YT channel. I am sure it will be a great success !
Thanks for sharing, Colt! Just installed a bunch these in my vs code setup.
Thanks Colt for posting this! CSS peek and bracket pair colorizer look like something I would want to use.
Hi Tibi, glad you got something valuable from the video! Those two are super useful extensions. I use them so much, I often forget I have them installed until my students ask me about them :)
dude this video has an insane amount of value. Instant sub
"purple the undisputed king of colors"
Cool stuff, colt; CSS Peek reminded me of Brackets and I never used it but I'm definitely installing this extension
Thanks, bro.
THIS VIDEO IS VIVID AND OUTSTANDING, AND VERY SIMPLE. THANK YOU!
Bracket Pair Colorizer and Emmet have both been integrated into VS Code. If you open setting and search brackets you can turn on the option to show the guide line.
Thanks for the video, and yes I would love to see a similar one on Python extensions.
Awesome stuff. Just started your class and VSC was my choice. Glad to get ahead of the game with these great Extensions.
Thanks for this very detailed stuff! As a beginner this is tremendously helpful!!! 🙌🏻
M also beginner
Colt is the man. He has the #1 rated web development bootcamp on Udemy for those that don't know. So glad to see him making youtube content now too. Coming out of the gate strong!
really good video mr.steele. short snippets of info in just 20 mins. fantastic. also I love how you are dealing with unappealing comments. great job! ❤
Love your lectures. never thought that learning stuff could be this fun.
Pretty cool ^^
Some of my favorite extensions are : "Better Comments", "Live Sass Compiler", "Smarty Syntax", "Markdown All in One
" and "Markdown Preview". At work i also like to use "sftp", "TortoiseSVN", "Drupal Syntax Highlighting
" and "Drupal 8 Snippets".
10 seconds in and the cat photos got me. Looking forward to this course, too!
Hi, I have just started with the bootcamp udemy course and came here to install the suggested extensions. You are so hilarious, I can see that this will be an amazing way to learn! Love you and your cats as well!
Thanks Colt 👍
@3:50 mark that "ugh! I'm blinded there" is just hilarious. This would be a great sound track to use. Lol.
That's how I feel whenever I switch to a lighter theme! Definitely not my top choice. Thanks for watching :)
Excellent stuff, Colt!
Hey Colte appreciate you and all that you do. Was deciding between your course and Angela You but ultimately chose yours. Excited to get a headstart in the web dev field with your course 😁
I loved this! Bracket pair colorizer will save my life😂!! Thanks for sharing.
You are one of my favorite UA-camr so far
Live Server looks like a must have! Don't know how I was not aware of this before.
Thanks for Bracket Pair Colorizer 2, that's a big help
I installed all you mentioned in the video! You are awesome!
I miss your class so much!!! You're really great!!!
Very helpful! Live Server is saving me a ton of time.
Great video and yes please do a Emmet video.
Thanks, Crystal! I've added Emmet to my list of "videos I need to make for youtube"!
Hey Colt are you on Twitter?
Not really :( I have an account from when I was in high school that I forgot the password to and have been desperately trying to get Twitter to delete...but other than that? Not right now. I regret not starting a twitter for my online teaching, but at this point I'm not sure if it's worth it. What are you thoughts?
@@ColtSteeleCode I think that social media is unnecessary now, since we check youtube content quite often. Especially when you post on Twitter that you just have uploaded a new video. Twitter is good for "tips and tricks" posts like. But now Twitter is almost about politics which i hate.
Thank you so much for all of your videos Colt.
You are the best! thank you so very much for this video! You cannot believe how much you have helped me. Keep up the wonderful lectures! I am starting to buy all your Udemy courses as I progress. Have a wonderful day!
Prettier theme colorizes brackets too. Very helpful in long code blocks
Super thanks for reviewing some great extensions. I hope you get enough interest in Emmet to justify doing a video on it. Keep Broadcasting!!
Thank you for sharing your color theme!
Just dropping an update here, Emmet has been integrated into VS code so there is no longer a need to install an extension. There are additional extensions now that customize its functionality further though.
Additional extensions to customize emmet are? Thank you.
Hey Colt - one other one I like, especially for folks making the jump to VS Code from sublime is the "Sublime Text Keymap and Settings Importer", especially since it will allow your students to still be able to use the sublime shortcuts they're used to or the ones you mention in your videos like (Ctrl+Shift+D) to quickly copy a line of text, etc. Just a thought, and apologies if someone else already suggested that.
Big fan of bracket pair colorizer, along with subtle match brackets
Thanks, this is great. Can't wait to get home and try it out.
Thank you so much Colt!
Format.Onsafe wasn't working first. I set Prettier Now as default formatter (instead of "None") in Text Editor Settings and it's solved now.
Thanks for the tips. Going though this now as I'm doing your JS course on Udemy.
Not sure what version it was added, but the Bracket Pair Colorizer is now a built in feature of VSCode. You can find it in settings by searching for Brackets.
You are a Rockstar!!
Doing right now ur HTML CSS and JavaScript bootcamp!
Gotta admit... Good stuff sir... Damn good stuff!
you got yourself a new sub. and like, and bell.
just because i like cats too. and you made me love VS Code more with this extension.
THANKS
This should be a good start - thanks to your JavaScript Udemy course I got this valuable information too!! Love it!!
Excellent video Colt. I started your Modern Javascript Course on Udemy. And like you recommended I'm exploring the options and settings of VS Code. I like better the theme Atom One Dark Pro, perfectly balanced in my opinion: not too bright, not too dark, not much constrast and nice color combinations. Highly recommeded. Thank you very much. :)
Just so you know....I did my part to feed the cats. I subscribed without watching the video. A man that loves cats is automatically a good guy.
Regardless, the content in this video is amazing. I am just now starting to become a "serious" hobby programmer. I am going to start learning PHP. I am so glad that I found your VSCode video, your explanations are so clear. Your examples are extremely relevant and easy to follow. After watching your videos, I am also going to hit the notification icon. i expect great things from your tutelage.
Please keep up the good work and take care of the kitties.
Great video. I am switching to VSCode too. Thanks Colt.
I love your videos and your Udemy courses (I have like 3 of them, maybe 4, don't remember at the moment)
I prefer you above the other teachers because you're humble and you don't have that forced positivity attitude that I really despise and hate. I hate fake people, you're not one of them.
Keep up your hard work.
Life is up and downs, but people want to always appear happy for some reasons, displaying an utopia lifestyle that no one can ever achieve.
I don't have many extensions in my VS Code setup, but some really cool suggestions here! Thanks!
one of my favorite teachers!
Thanks for the extension recommendations Colt. I personally use the "Dracula Official" theme. It's dark, but not too dark. Yeah those bright themes kill me..
Discord Light Theme😳😳
The best decision I made in 2021 so far is purchasing your udemy Bootcamp course
Great video Colt, about auto prefix, which extension between "css-auto-prefix" and "Autoprefixer" is the best?
thanks
Very helpful video, thanks.
Great video! Your Udemy Web developer Bootcamp really meant a lot for my short career.
I really love to see you on youtube !
Shades of Purple is my favourite theme! It is AWESOME!
You and other UA-camrs like Joshua Fluke deserve more subs. Excellent content with critical viewpoints that many people trying to teach a subject just miss. Subbed
Very informative. Thanks Colt! You rock! :)
really thank you for the extensions. awesome video.
I'm a very begineer, nice tips, thank you!
Great video!!. Do you know how to personalize the snippets? btw
What software do you use to record your screen?
i love your teaching style
Well, you got me to sign up for your Udemy Python course to refresh and fill the gaps in my knowledge. So this just proves that your UA-cam videos are a good marketing tool for you ;)
Congratulations! You deserve a new subscriber
OMG I LOVE YOU. Your videos are the best.
thanks for every thing you do for us :D
My favorite Colt Steele quote "I got 'lucky' and I didn't even have to stay up all night"
Gotta love Colt. Thank you!
Frick man, I came here to see the fight between my favourite and code extensions
How come this comment has so few likes! Seems like most people didn't get it.
This was super helpful, thank you!! :)
you cracked me up in the beginning of the video!!
im am a big fan of yours sir....Thank you for your awesome course.
Thank you for your list! For me it was awesome
9:31 how these cats 🐈 manage to always be featured in your videos or tutorials LoL 😂
He has 105 cats
Respect Colt!!!. Keep up the awesomeness.
Great video man! I'm new using VScode, and I'm wondering how you've changed some of your theme colors. I really liked the Material Theme, but I would much prefer if I could set the color scheme to purple instead of the blue one that the Palenight uses by default.
Great list, thanks!
FYI- Bracket Pair organizer comes with VS now as of 2022. Colt thanks for the awesome content.
Thanks for putting this together very helpful :)
Hey Colt thanks for the tip especially the bracket colorizer :) (y)
Great video. I have been using VS Code since the first release and seen how the extensions have made this a great editor. Would like to know what font did you use in VS Code for this video.
