- Magnax (www.magnax.com) recently finished the first production prototype of the axial flux direct-drive machine (permanent magnet) which will be used in the new generation of wind turbines and electric machinery. Here the machine is tested on the Lemcko Testbench.
To give you an idea; for the same power and torque, a 100kW axial flux machine weighs only 850 kg while a traditional direct-drive machine weighs about 4000 kg.
Besides the weight advantage, the axial flux technology brings other advantages such as a much more compact size, high efficiency (up to 98% for larger sizes), very high reliability, easy to scale while the production cost stays low.
Impresionant !
Asteptam de mult acest lucru sa sa intample , mai ales in industria auto .
4 propulsoare montate direct pe roata si in loc de 500 KG motor cu ardere interna + minim 40 litri combustibil punem acumulator
Felicitari si succes !
Thanks. For e-mobility applications, we have smaller motors that deliver more power at higher rpm.
100 kw at which rpm? You didnt give the critical information.
At 60 rpm.
Just for your information. The induction motor here replaces the wind turbine blades which usually drive the generator in a wind turbine setup. Here we simulate this by using a traditional motor/gearbox. Of course, the machine also works vice versa as an electric motor.
Magnax I would like to know more about this generator. I would like also to know if this generator go's to the market. I need to buy one like this..
Hi Mike. Feel free to reach out to sales (at) magnax.com Thx!
Of course not. Perpetuum mobiles don't exist. The generator efficiency is 96%.
If they were making such as claim they would have said greater than 100% efficiency, which precisely what makes a concept such as "free energy" generators as ridiculous as they are annoying, lol.
We often receive such emails. People who think that our generator runs on its own. :-)
Noice!!
I'm actually designing and 3D printing my own axial flux motor for a project... But the big chonky boy in the video sure puts my little plastic zoom-zoom to shame. LOL!
They have smaller versions of their motors and together with BMT ( a belgian gearbox manufacturer) are looking to put this in a truck configuration of somekind . Volkswagen showed intrest , maybe the next motorisation for the future VW Amarok ? The E-Wolf ?
Do you make axial flux synchronous reluctance motors too?
Woooowwww this is very impressive... so thin and so much POWEEEEEERRR ohhhhh yeaaaahhhh!!!!
Bruno, they have a new 300kw electric motor that can be fitted for electric vehicle AXF275.
Could u do a video on that?
Peter Robann Sobrepena woooowwww... thanks for the info!! I’ll be contacting them and see if I can kindly test it in action hahaha ohhh yeaahhh... 300kW of pure madness
@@BrunoPOWEEER
Please do.
Here's the specs by magnax
" Diameter 275mm and length 94mm
750V but we might consider a 360V too in the future
At 0 rpm, already have max continuous torque of 260 Nm. Peak is >500Nm. It decreases a bit towards the end of the rpm curve (8000 rpm)"
Release on Q1 2019
6,000 Euro on orders 1 -20
4,500 Euro 20 -25
Where i can buy for 300 KW that.
Its so amazing . And it blown my mind out how you guys make it stop on rotating
yeah, this looks perfect for offshore wind turbines
Thanks. With a factor 2 to 3 reduction of mass, it is indeed a way build taller wind turbines.
nice work :)
If that is around 2000 mm diameter , what would the pole count need to be if it was around 6.5 meters diameter , spinning at 20 - 25 RPM and intended to produce 50 Hz Grid Feed 3 phase output from wind or water turbine ?
Thanks for the comment. A 5,4 diameter machine has 352 poles and a 7,5m diameter machine around 487 poles. So a 6.5m machine something in between. :)
The presentation is somewhat incorrect. Power is not a parameter (speculative parameter) at all for describing electric machines. What moments of power are discussed in the video?
I built a device once that had several disks all larger than the next. I think I had 10 in all. The smallest 4 inches and the largest 4 feet in diameter. Each disk had aluminum plates on the outer edge side facing the next larger disk. Each disk had magnets on the side facing the smaller disk place in the diameter of the next smaller disk. All except 2 of the disks were on a shaft with bearings that would turn independently of each other except for the largest disk was attached to the shaft. The very smallest disk was attached to a 9 volt motor about the diameter of a quarter. I would turn on the motor and it would spin. This would start the bigger second disk spinning and the second d would start the bigger third and so on. I was able to spin the 4 foot disk at about 135 rpm in the end. You could slow the largest disk with a load and have very little affect on the smaller disks. I have torn it apart and the rennets are still in my basement. I would love to see this built to high tolerance specs. Maybe even use copper plates or coils instead of aluminum plates.
Mine was cut out on a table saw from 3/4 project board and some parts made on my cnc router to hold bearings and such.
Cool Dean. Always interested to meet great engineers.
Magnax I just wish I had the time and money to build things as precision as your machine.
there are large motors like these in New Orleans to drive the water pump system which keeps water from the city streets , underpasses, etc.
We would like to buy 6 of the motors, 10kW, for to drive agitators at 54rpm, wothout gear reduction. This is one are of application where these motors would be extremely beneficial.
They would remove the mechanical gear reduction required for tank agitation speeds.
Where can I order six of these motors.
For 500 kw work with 2 rings of 3 meters approximately? and have the motor to move those rings, and would it be like a ring? and how many RPM and volts would the engine work?
working 24/7 the generator and the engine how long is the life
Exactly: 2x 3m or 3x 2,5m at 25 rpm for 500kW. The stators are connected to each other (and the stator frame of the wind turbine) and the rotors are connected to each other. In case of a wind turbine, the heavy duty forces from the wind turbine blades are usually absorbed via a separate wind turbine bearing (like a SKF nautilus bearing). The integrated bearing in the axial flux generator is only meant to preserve the airgap and is as such "overdimensioned" and not taking heavy duty forces. As a result, the only component subject to wear is the integrated bearing but since it's overdimensioned it will have a very long lifetime. (nevertheless, there is an integrated lubricant reservoir which can be filled every x years) Full load voltage is 230/400V. Cheers, Daan
AMAZING! Cant wait to put it in Truck!Or bus! And Ride with all friends and family!)
Hi, Since it is using concentrated winding, will it run like a PMSM with pure sine wave AC voltage, assuming of course the motor has been brought up to synchronous speed?
Hi John, for the inverter there is no difference between a traditional PM machine and ours.
Hi, if a 100 kW Generator weighs just 850 kg, how much would a generator with the capacity of 1 MW weigh? Does a so called square cube law hold true in this case?
Hi. This will be about 5700kg for 1 MW (3 discs of 4m diameter connected deliver 1MW at 24rpm).
Well done. For the micro market do you offer a 2Kw, or 3Kw, 5Kw?
Not at the moment.
Magnax can you offer sample design?
@@Magnax unfortunately
Magnax this is a possible solution to a VTOL we would display in the near future.
Just curious in this aspect why are you using an external motor to turn this if in fact it is a self sufficient motor?
There is no such thing as self sufficient motors. perpetuum mobile's do NOT exist! The induction motor here replaces the wind turbine blades which usually drive the generator in a wind turbine setup. Here we simulate this by using a traditional motor/gearbox. Of course, the machine also works vice versa as an electric motor.
Why do you need a wind turbine or what good is a wind turbine if this runs on magnetic power?
because it doesnt run on magnetic power instead it uses it to increase efficiency.
I have been on your website to see further information on this, but I can not see anything on there? Can I speak with someone about these please?
That's correct. Currently we focus on smaller high speed motors for eMobility.
Thank you for helping save planet earth. God bless and Happy New Year too.
Would be useful as a generator in a 10 MW VAWT ? If this was housed on the ground instead of a gondola maintenance would be even easier.
Extremely beautiful thing
hello everyone, where can I buy a magnax motors????
So it's axial flux, but is it a permanent magnet generator or some sort of indcution, electromagnet type?
Permanent Magnet. Forgot to mention that. Thanks
so far 11 oil shills hate this video
What's new for Megawatt generation? Smaller, simpler, less maintenance and wear, most efficient at 98%. This is a 100,000 watt generator shown weight 850 kg /1873.93 pounds vs 2930 kg / 6459.544 pounds for a traditional generator/gearbox offsetting 4,585 pounds.
That's A beautiful motor!
AMAZING! The future
very good better than win turbine in long term break down. win turbine maintenance problem
Produce 100.000 watt ultra power with 850 kg weight only
Who here was expecting to see that guy jump into it like it's some stargate portal?
I want to get a device like it. with full additions,
how much power would a 4 inch across one generate?
What do you mean? A generator with a diameter of 4 inch?
It will never beat out
an engine start motor drive GENERATOR.
very good. For a aplication small , a 1Kw.?
At the moment we start at 100-kW for the high torque - low RPM applications. Next steps are 300-kW and 1MW
Yes, i really need for my electric bike
so, what is the difference btw Magnax motor and YASA motor?
Hi Chuang,
3 differences.
1. We use grain oriented electrical steel cores which are much more effective in terms of flux density. (Yasa uses SMC cores (soft magnetic).
2. Yasa cools the cores by pumping oil through the cores. This generates turbulences, air bubbles and a less robust fixation of the cores. The Magnax concept uses a patented cooling concept with Alu components surrounding the cores and extract the heat very effectively. Additionally; no empty space inside the motors which is also very good for vibration resistance.
These 2 reasons result in 2x power density vs. Yasa design.
3. The Magnax concept for fixation of the cores delivers very high manufacturability, which is a key element for our OEM customers.
Actual question is:
What is the difference between emrax vs magnax?
Lowest power of magnax motor ?
185mm?
If yes
Then what is the price and what motor controller should be useful for 185mm?
Does motor controller provide idle rpm to motor?
Last question is that
185mm motor can works as generator ?
As I seen in this video
What is input kv and output kv?
Hi
Is there any software for design and development of axial flux motor?
If so kindly please share.
Thank you
No, it's proprietary.
Not proprietary, google this stuff all over the place "Jacek F. Gieras
Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Brushless Machines" and prior. I'm sure if they could have patented it they would have but for the pesky prior art.
Why teeth on the exterior of the ring with no shown purpose ?
The teeth on the exterior of the ring are cooling fins. This is an air cooled generator (which is very useful for wind turbine purposes).
Really great sir and very useful idea
how much torque does it produce ? and what is the highest rpm of it ?
This one (1600mm diameter) delivers 16.200 Nm torque (aircooled). In case of watercooled, it can double the torque. Highest rpm depends on the bearing, but it can easily go over 100 rpm.
Magnax how many ampere does it draw
155 A.
Magnax thank you for the fast reply. most people will not reply at all with useful information. I am building an all electric SUV and the Remy electric motors I am using now use 360v, 300a and produce 260lbft of torque at 93% efficiency and are 10" long all while weighing 180lbs
Amazing!
Congratulations magnax!
I kinda like the design. Can I modify it?
Tehnollogi baik kalau mau beli di mana, ? Harganya berapa ?
Do you speak English?
No speak english, mister
kNm? torque?
16 kNm continuous torque - aircooled
Good afternoon thanks!
On your site, through the "contacts" I sent a request, but no answer or greetings.
We need a 30kNm, 130 rpm motor driven by a frequency converter in an electric power project (energozapas.com/). Very limited in axial dimensions.
Are you interested in customers?
How much for this and where do I buy?
How much is the price in dollars?
very good, congratulations, this is realy a importante advance in electric motors...
İnput output power ?
A bit over 100-kW at 60 rpm.
I just found out about this .. nice ! Does these motor run without a stator ?
Om just curious because i just made a motor that can run without and i get about the same efficiency as you i think..
this could be interesting for some aircraft vehicles?! or boats?!
Already in testing for Aircraft - ua-cam.com/video/8EEVPVNJHjM/v-deo.html - Looks like these motors can make the transition from a fossil fuel based World, to a greener future for our Kids & Grandkids!!
It's going to take so much time before this baby will hit the market and maybe it never will..
Not true. There is significant interest so enough reason to put them into production.
Thank you it very important
Price?
where to buy?
www.magnax.com
why you didn't put a pricelist?
Because pricing depends on volumes (quantity of machines). If you would like to have a price quotation, feel to reach out : sales @ magnax. com Thanks
Wo steht die will die sehen ...
In Belgium. At our office.
Magnax und geht die den auch ist das echte Freie Energie.?? Und wenn ich das kaufen wollte wie teuer ist das dann.??
Great development - and then destroyed by patent.
Hi Stefan, don't worry about the patent. We didn't patent the axial flux machine concept on its own, but only certain parts of it. (cooling and manufacturing methods)
Sorry to be so critical :) The machine looks amazing
I don't think so because we are in contact with Chinese companies who know the Chinese motor market very well.
I actually thought the same thing when I saw the patent stuff. It seems like anything good with a patent now doesn't seem to make it to the public. We have to keep pushing the limits on the energy stuff.
I was wondering what would be the cost please
Magnax: so that machine, it's not running on power from the grid it's using magnets to spin right
Merveilleux
Surely @0:48 you mean 2930 kg? 2.930 kg is barely anything.
Yes, 3 tons
Ah, I thought so. BTW 98% efficiency is an amazing achievement, is that under load? What voltage was this measured at?
For this machine (100-kW generator @ 60 rpm, it's 96%). 98% is achievable for the future bigger machines.
Great work, I've just downloaded your white paper. I'll be reading it shortly, subscribed also. I'll be sharing this with my engineering buddies!
Thanks for that! Let's stay in touch. KR, Daan
Like it.
Wau nur von 2 Seiten gefilm . Man darf nicht mehr sehen wie es geht oder ob es nicht geht . ^^
It delivers 101-kW @ 60 rpm continuously according our measurement devices.
Hello. You have the technical ability to make an electric motor 700 kW, working moment of impulse 1000 N/kg,
Revolutions 10 - 100 revolutions / minute.
Привет.
У вас есть техническая возможность сделать электрический мотор 700 kW, рабочий момент импульса 1000 N/kg.
Обороты 10 - 100 оборотов/минута.
Супер.
I saw your website White Paper. Great improvement over the incredibly stupid, wasteful, standard commercial motor/generators. 98%, are you sure you have taken into account back EMF under load? ... Take a look at non-mainstream; the Bedini/Newman "window" motor/generator arrangement.
Thanks Bob. I'll check it! Daan
that's CGI why?
Lol. :-) I can assure you that it's not CGI. It's a real prototype. Feel free to come and check it out live in Belgium.
It looks like CGI because the machine is so clean :)
