Nah, comrade, this Barbs 6th form is inspirational, not underwhelming. Don't know how it stands as a tournament entry, but as a build it's really solid. P. S. Congratulations on winning 3rd place this time!
Thank you! I definitely tried pretty hard on the barb. I feel like HGs just don’t cut it for competitions, and you have to do more than just the kit itself. The best entry would be like a diorama in which you can’t really even tell what kits are used in it
@@comradegunpla yeah, and I guess in this case size really matters. Some victory/crossbone will be barely noticeable, while something like Xi or Penelope might be a good choice due to their sheer size. I haven't been to the competitions, but if people mostly do dioramas for them - I guess that's how we roll then. I mostly see photos from the japanese twitter, so I'm used to see just the builds, without any other stuff
That's a tough break finding out so late, but all things considered I think you did a great job! You'll surely take it next year with some more preparation and experience. I do feel like it's a bit of a shame HG's don't get too much love in competitions, but I do get it to a certain degree, there's just less material to work with a lot of the time. That's also a strength of HG's in my opinion though, making them look good can really wow people. I think LED work can be intimidating for a lot of people, and adding (simple) programming into the mix can definitely be intimidating for people w/ no prior experience, so I'm all for you making a video on in-depth LED effects as they can be applied to gunpla, even if it's just to have the information more easily available for people getting into custom work and not really knowing where to look outside of "gunpla-tube" Anyways, as always great video! Looking forward to the next one!
Christmas LED decorations make for a great substitute for those LED noodles (which are really hard to come by unfortunately). Either way, your dio turned out great for the limited time you had. Especially because it has to be even less than 20hrs, because of all that drying time. So yeah, congrats on your 3rd place!
Oh right, damn, that’s a great idea, why didn’t I think of that?? I guess I only looked at things I had in my room, 100% forgot the Christmas lights in the attic lol
Haha 😂 I used them in one of my builds, they are really easy to work with since you can bend them in any way and shape. Plus no soldering needed. I do have to say that the LED filament shine brighter though and therefore are better for some occasions.
Man, id love to get into using led filaments but finding the right ones are something i struggle with. I know nothing about the process other than dressing them up with a kit. Anytime you gotta connect. Board or solder i put my hands up.
Hmm. It's actually super simple, most of them have similar voltage requirements, I'd say the hardest part is just actually getting a soldering iron and start doing it. Seems like I should actually make a full blown LED wiring video. I just need to plan all of the talking points and actually build according to those points, otherwise the video will be a mess.
@@comradegunpla oh man, I would love that. I know there are some out there but honestly the more the merrier because it normalizes that aspect of the hobby to more people. I've got a project planned with the nu ver.ka to use LEDs but I'm not going to start that until I've got some lighting skills.
The funniest part is since it's in every single Hobby Town, some states have none and some states like Wisconsin now has 4 GBWC competitions lmao. All they needed to do was like, look at the map and dedicate like 8 of the biggest stores and announce them early. Still, better than not having them. I'll still show support for anything that is good for the community.
Yeah… there are a lot of videos on controlling LEDs in general, but I guess not specifically for Gunpla. I’ll need to actually really plan the video though. The points need to be talked about in an order. I wanted to do that with the Dom, but the footages I shot just weren’t enough. Basically I need to shoot a build with the video in mind. The Zgok video was much easier since it was just 1 LED with barely any wiring work

looks great for less than 20 hours of work. Congrats on winning 3rd place!
Saw your post about this on Reddit
Oh yeah, you are probably talking about the progress post when I was halfway done with wiring the LEDs a couple of months back

IDK they were doing GBWC at local Hobby Towns. I just looked and Mine had it on Saturday. This sucks.

Honestly a led video would be dope, there aren't good explanation for gunpla
Agreed, originally subd for the led information on the HGUC Z Goc.
