- John Starnes singing "Jerusalem", the featured song as the Sar El Tours bus enters Jerusalem.
Isa 52:1-10
Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3 For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
4 For thus saith the Lord God, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion.
9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
KJV
I just returned from a 2-week pilgrimage to Israel. Jerusalem was the last place we visited, and the day we approached the city, our guide played this recording. By the time we stopped at a look-out point, my tears were flowing! I felt as if this were the thing that had been missing from my life--to finally be entering God's Holy City! I urge everyone to go to Israel, especially Jerusalem, if you have the opportunity. It is an unforgettable experience for which you will be blessed in many ways.
Our bus driver played this as we were approaching Jerusalem at sundown, and I shall never forget the goosebumps I got. I love this song!!!
I visited Israel May of 2006. It is truly a life changing experience. Everytime that I hear this song brings tears to my eyes. Happy tears. It has been four years and it only seems like yesterday.
I heard John many years ago giving his testamony and praising God. I seen a very humble and gratefull man for his salvation. This is one of the most beautiful versions of this song I have ever heard. Praise the LORD.
Did this on a Sar El bus last month. It brought me to tears. Pilar (tour guide) said welcome home family and most of the people on the bus started to tear up. I did feel at home. Great song, greater experience.
Thanks, that's exactly the way I was affected. If anybody doubts God is alive, go to Jerusalem!
I am now in tears experiencing this with you. I recall my trip in 1980. As our El Al flight approached, the pilot said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now entering the land of Abraham, Issaic and Jacob.".....tears flowing again"
I cannot wait to finally see the heavenly Jerusalem. That song is only a hint of the greatness and light of God, which will shine there.
This brought back memories from when our own tour bus approached Jerusalem as the sun was starting to descend. What a glorious sight! And this song still sends chills through me. Hearing it upon arrival in Jerusalem is a memory I will never forget. Thanks so much for posting!
This is the best version of this song.... Jerusalem ... everything centers around Jersalem..... John sings it with such praise and glory....
What a blessing his music is to me. I do not share in the ministry he represents but the man has a gift from God and is using it to bless us, Thank you John.
Just finished a Sar El Tour and entered Jerusalem at night as they played this. The emotions on the bus were overwhelming to see the lights of the city as we entered. Perfect song!
what a song...what a time...memories...fellowship in the Spirit....revelation divine...that place by the river...and Gods people when they find that anointing in Gods presence
Thanks for posting this video. We toured the Holy Land in January and had a great time!! Trip of a life time for us. They also played this song as we entered Jerusalem and now I can't get enough of it. God Bless
John
Yes."Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem.May they prosper who love you." (Ps 122.6 NAS)
Everytime I listen to this I melt. I just listened to it twice in a row and cried and cried. This song is such a blessing. I think the pictures are great; however - when I 'listen' to this song, I don't care about the pictures. I feel the Holy Spirit and the annointing all over this song and Mr. Starnes. It's my favorite song he sings. God bless you and God bless Mr. Starnes. Oh, and I can't wait to see this Holy City!!! Maranatha!
Thank you so much for posting this!
We've just come back from the Israel Solidarity (Sar El) tour. I couldn't believe I was actually in Jerusalem - I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, dance or fall to my knees.
God's love for His people never seemed so tangible, nor His second coming so real. Keep praying for Israel!
i am ortodox but this song is fantastic, thanks for beeing John
He was an inspiration. Spirit filled songs and anointed voice that always touched my heart. To God be the glory.
It was so emotional driving into Jerusalem with this song playing. I'll never forget it!!
Why on earth to people have to confuse the excellent achievement of humans with 'god'? This has nothing to do with 'god' but it exudes an awe-inspiring realisation of human accomplishment. The sooner we understand that this is the show and NOT the rehearsal the better our world will be for it.
Thanks Joyful, It only takes one trip to Jerusalem to make everywhere else in the world seem like a strange land. Our hearts are in Jerusalem.
Thanks Digna89, I wrote John Starnes and told him our family had listened to his recording of this song more than any other song in recording history.
Israel in our hearts!
God bless,
Jim
It is amazing how people you meet in Israel seem like family in just a few days. I miss Israel everyday. Israel is truly "in our hearts."
I hv played this song for years yet it's new and fresh everyday
Me Too John's singing was such a blessing to me as a teenager. This song still gives me chills when I hear it. No one sings it better than John.
God is Great,Jesus is Lord, and John Starnes sure can sing. Praise God!

I believe this is the most powerful version of this song and sang with such feeling.... God Bless Jerusalem ... and its people ...... and I pray John is singing it this morning .... Jerusalem is the Apple of Gods eye...... and will live forever...... as will Israel.....
Just returned from a Sar El tour which far exceeded my expectations. I was tearful when I first heard this (entering Jerusalem) and haven't been able to get it out of my mind. Thank you for posting it. (Even though the photos are not the greatest, I am touched by them)
Awesome song.... as we get so close to the final battle .... the reality of this song is upon us.... and Jerusalem will be in the hands of God's chosen people....
Thanks, Nobody sings Holy City quite like John Starnes.
God bless,
Jim
Thanks Sarkimnh, I stood at the Wall in awe, felling so unworthy, yet so thrilled to be there. I will never be the same.

Jim & Donna
My favorite song he sings! What a voice! I can't wait to see Jerusalem!!
Oh - and one more comment - I'd like to know how people can sing this and not break down and cry while doing so! ha ha...I know I couldn't. I can barely listen to it without breaking down! This song makes me think of Jesus while He wept over Jerusalem.
You guys really need to look up Larry Ford singing Jerusalem (The Holy City)...he is the best. Makes you wanna go protest for the Jewish Nation to reclaim what rightfully belongs to them. This song is an anthem for Israel...Long live Israel, the Holy City!!!!!!!
So powerful and anointed.God bless you John.

Thank you for posting this video like this. I would have never thought to do that!! I am still in touch with our bus driver, Slava. We had an awesome time. I have even learned Hebrew so fast. I am a little slower with it now of course from not using it often, but I still got it. Lord Bless You!!
Thanks Denise Jerusalem feels like home., These pictures were from a Sar El tour in '03.
@Candubh I can assure you that John Starnes is one of the most humble men I have ever met.

Ps 30:10-12
0 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
KJV
Thanks, Israel is in our hearts!
I love Jerusalem.
Awesome song, awesome voice!
amazing rendition, best ever.
Music is the language of the soul that define its innermost feelings of a being ......Thank for the music the song we singing.....dedicated to all music lover...
The song is about the Soul of God coming to the same conclusion of an embodiment, Being God in embodiment living a human experience. It is not about any outer concept or city. It is about the soul that has come to reunion with her ChristSelf through any belief system. It is about the Holy Reunion of the Son/Daughter of God back into the arms of their God Self. In the reunion of the soul this is the following the teacher back to the heart of the example and the teaching proffered.
His is awesome as well!
Makes me long even more for that day when King of Kings returns. By the time it gets to the end I feel so sensational, and ready to go.
This song was confirmation That I truly had a vision in which I was in The new Jerusalem walking down the streets of gold with mansions and beautiful plants while Angels were on the sides of the streets singing, "Hosanna in the Highest. Let our King be lifted up, Hosanna."
Thanks for those kind remarks. You are a blessing!
All Glory To The Most High.
@Micki1958 Thanks, we were there last month, too. And leaving Israel feels like leaving home.

Hosanna in the highest!!!
Ps 132:13-18
For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
KJV
