    Great shooting as usual, every magpie shot saves the lives of not just songbird chicks but nearly every breed of bird out there. Brilliant slomo shots to show the pellet delivered on target, well done buddy.

    I love the slow motion, and how you can see right where the pellet is going. Awesome video, my friend.

    Great shooting, as usual. I wouldn't bother filtering the slow-motion sections: if people don't like them, they shouldn't be watching!

    I can't get enough of your magpie killing videos they really are a pest.
    At any one time I can see around 15 to 20 magpies in my garden screaming that horrible cackling noise they do.

    Good stuff as always. I'm not much of an airgunner myself, but those were some really nice shots considering the ranges. Looking forward to your coming technical videos.

    we have the same problem here in England it is legal to trap magpies here which we do and shoot as many as possible we used to have lots of mistle thrushes around, its only over the last couple of years are they coming back, only since we have been thinning the magpies out, brilliant video thanks,

      We lost all song birds. Many other species also are out because of them and because of the crows.
      Clean them or you will have the same.
      Best regards.

    Keep going, you are doing what needs to be done to help the song birds. You have so many magpies!
    I am doing the same here and now have the numbers down to one pair and that
    is OK for the area I live in.

    Wow dude so many magpies you have. No wonder you have to take care of them. Beautiful piece of shooting as well. Thumbs up.

    You're very correct on the Magpie's overpopulation and aggressiveness. I was in Iraq and they would overrun every other bird population and it looked like a Steven King film when they flocked, blotting out huge parts of the sky. Great work!

    • @FreeManShooting
      @FreeManShooting  9 років тому +3

      In countries like Iraq there is no one to take care. The country is dealing with more important issues. Magpies have not many natural enemies and this make them to overpopulate...

    • @FloridaManMorgan
      @FloridaManMorgan 9 років тому

      Yeah. You are right. Iraqis are dealing with other important issues. They're pretty much a bully bird. They push other native birds into areas that aren't as beneficial and that lead them to find aircraft hangars.

    • @OGPUEE
      @OGPUEE 9 років тому

      FreeManShooting They have sparrowhawks, kestrels, increasing ravens and goshawks as enemy. Even a crow is menace to magpie. Maybe wipe such unnatural food like pheasant?

    Magpies are uber intelligent killers that hunt in gangs, they mourn the passing of each other hence the ease to get a few at once if you have the skill, steady shot and the patience. Your local song birds must be coming back. Keep up the great vermin control and the videos too. You sometimes feature on the Shootingshow with Charlie. ATB Pete

    Nice shooting I use the gamo hunter extreme 177 on pest. I go on the reservation and help farmers with pest problems. I to love shooting long range with my air rifle and also experiment with steel pellets on foxes and coyotes my Gamo shooting a pellet at 1600 fps its a beautiful beast.

    • @FreeManShooting
      @FreeManShooting  10 років тому

      Thanks mate.
      What are this steel pellets? Dressed with plastic jacket?
      What rifle you are using to achieve 1600fps (I guess in .117)

    • @travistunney79
      @travistunney79 10 років тому

      The pellet is a gamo the lethal hunting .117 pellet it's a plastic with a 5.6 gram steel rod in the center. And I have a gamo hunter extreme it pushes a .117 at 1600 fps. It work good in Fox coyotes and bobcats. And the darn crows that attack the cornfield. I also have Savage 17 hmr rifle but I like the pellet rifle its quiet.

    Great Videos, Thank you for taking the time to share,
    We have Lots of Magpies here in the UK too and over the last 4 months I've shot 348 of them, I do pest and vermin control for Land owners and also try my hardest to protect the Garden/song birds, If people saw what these corvids do they would be happy to see their demise, I've shot a few that had baby birds in their beaks too, Shot two Jays early this year with baby blue tits in their beak...they are just as Nasty! I also shoot Jackdaws, Crows, Rooks and Grey squirrels in an effort to preserve Garden and song birds,
    Keep up your Excellent work/shooting...Looking forward to more of your videos,
    Happy Hunting Sir ;)

      +Nite Hunter Great job mate!
      Last 4 years I dispatch 1126 magpies. The crows, jackdaws, rooks, and jay are much less. The fight is epic, and they are so many... We lost the songbirds over here.
      Dispatch as many as possible - before is too late. The number is growing rapidly.
      Good hunt, and best regards.

    i live in the uk and magpies, grey squirreals are classed as invading pests.
    i have a weihrauch hw97kt blackline and a weihrauch hw100fsb both of which i use for HFT ((hunter field target)) compititions and pest control.
    given the strict laws here in the uk i have to be careful on where i shoot but given my house faces into the countryside i happly go out at 4am to go rabbit hunting and some local pest control.
    magpies are easy to get here as well, shoot one, stay still and another will jump along, in one day i actually ran out of pest control pellets...it was a good day that day.

      FreeManShooting We shoot 10s of thousands of crows and rooks a year here in the uk with 16j air rifles, I don't know if you have much experience with rifles of 16j of power but you can definitely drop cleanly crows, rooks, rabbits, squirrel and every thing else that's legally available for the air gunner with 16j of power, any more than that is just an option. We must give the novice shooter the correct information that they need to get the job done. Your videos are very entertaining and I look forward to each one you post, keep them coming FMS.

    I bagged my first Magpie yesterday when 3 of them were attacking a blackbird in the garden.I managed to get a few hits on the other 2 when they came to inspect the dead one.
    Hope to eliminate many more of these dirtbags in the near future.
    When is the best time to go after them,and do you use bait like bread ect?

  • @dearthworm
    @dearthworm 8 років тому

    Where do you shoot from? I know from experience that magpies are very wary and hard to approach close enough to shoot. They are smart enough to learn and recognize a man without a gun, versus a man with a gun. You must be shooting from a blind of some kind.

      Спасибо.
      Если вы стабильны в стрельбе а камера трястись то причина закрепления.
      Вы надо закрепить камера стабильной.
      Тоже с максимальном увеличении идет чувствительность. Менее увеличение - меньше тряски :-)
      Я стреляю по максимуму, который x25, но есть оптики увеличения с x50 больше.
      Какая ваша оптика и закрепление камерь?

      I will say - after the improvement - there is not big difference. Before AA was better.

    I've never seen so many magpies - your doing a good job there man. What country is it?

    • @FreeManShooting
      @FreeManShooting  9 років тому +1

      Christopher Morley yes they are many, but with the time they learn how to be more and more cautious. Now they are reacting from more than 100m.

      FreeManShooting they're extremely smart little birds. In my country they can tell when some ones holding a gun or not its crazy. Out here you have a hell of a time sneaking up on them.

    I was wondering what you do with these after you kill them because I want to get into small game hunting but I do not want to waste and my family is not really the eating type so what should I do...well what do you do with magpies?

    • @FreeManShooting
      @FreeManShooting  9 років тому +2

      The meet is not good for humans. Actually I know only hawks are eating this garbage.

      David G Just leave them where they drop. Other animals are taking the crops.
      Some people asked me for the feathers...

    nice videos. I also hate magpies and I want to kill a few I have around the country house but when I get to the tree where they are they are already gone. What can I do to atract them instead of me going to the tree? Another thinng is that those trees have plenty of leaves and magpies are difficult to see. I have a gamo rifle .22 igt Spain.
    Another question, when you kill all your magpies around you, arent you afraid you will get bored?
