- Totally went over my head that Nami could be working for Arlong haha, what a shock it was. I would say the thing I liked the most about this episode was learning more about Sanji, especially the relationship between him an Zeff, really enjoyed that and relate to it so it got me haha.

I agree with him than Koby in the live action is paddling water because he can't really evolve too much without fucking up the pace of his evolution since he has much less screentime in the manga/anime.

@@Arkayjiya they’re following the pace of the manga perfectly. a lot of his scenes were from omakes. if he doesn’t like koby then he doesn’t like koby, no need to spoil his growth.

In the anime, Zeff sacrifices his leg to save Sanji from drowning during their raid on the ship Sanji is on. But in the original work, the manga, he does eat his own leg while being stranded on that rock like what happens in this episode.

@@Joseph_Drew_III its exactly censorship, somebody was like "man, that was too dark" and changed it. Censorship doesnt need to be evil, same thing with Sanji's cig.

The reason the leg loss was changed was because "it was considered too much of a shock for young children," sounds like the suppression of an unacceptable part.
Zeff and Sanji really are the definition of tough love.

For over 10 years I’ve always heated Buggy the clown.. but he became one of my favourite after the live action, the actor did really great job

Ok you probably wont read this but all the hate that you give to coby really get to me so I just want to rant a bit.
First everyone needs to remember coby is still really young and had been on pirate ship for years as a slave, not a crew member.
And it is pretty clear that alvida crew is rustless and we can assume that noone in that ship protect him. So and he did to survive are waiting to do everything as quick as he can and agree with everything to avoid abuse.
The trauma from this is not something even an adult can get over quickly and it is probably just like a week or month after he got rescue. Probably a bit extreme but just imagine poking fun of sexual assault victim for getting nervous and afraid when someone touching them.
The trembling is just a defence mechanism that build up over time and not easy to fix atm. Even though he is afraid. He still voice his opinions not like before.
And I think the actor who played coby did great job to portray that and I dare to say it is better than in the anime.
There is nothing wrong with hating on some characters like you understand everything that I said above but you dont like timid character like coby I dont mind it at all, I just feel like from your reaction, maybe you forgot the start of his character.

I totally understand and agree with your statements and respect it. I do like koby and know of his future development and growth in the story which is one of the reasons I jokingly clown on him. It's nothing to be taking serious of course or out of the context of watching an anime series. The actor is amazing, I don't say anything negative about the real people and I understand and make sure to separate my views on things between fictional to non fictional people and situations.
Not a big spoiler but is confirmed you can eat someone and gain their devil fruit ability but you might have to eat them whole idk

Sanji's backstory is the most manga accurate. And in the Anime was change about zeff's leg. Episode 5 and 6 are my favourite episodes. Sanji's words in anime with Japanese dubbed:

Sanji had a crazy backstory
Taz skylar did a great Sanji portrayal. Zeff played by Craig, is also 1:1. Taz and Craig have previous experience of working together, being the same relation like Zeff and Sanji. Taz lived and breathed Sanji, learning cooking, doing his stunts, and taekwondo.
Dude they freaking killed their roles. Amazing actors. Zeff also voice acted for call of duty modern warfare

Koby does have goals lmao he told Luffy he wants to be a good marine. His entire storyline is him finding out that the marines arent as good as he thought they were and his grappling with that. Yes, he is timid, but he continuously stands up to Garp, who is one of the strongest marines alive, on Luffy’s behalf. Your comments on him would normally not bother me but the people in your comments making up nonsense to agree and placate you are driving me nuts. 😂😂

Since you would have gotten past the Zoro joining Luffy scene in anime, the LA did it kind of better here, Zoro vowing to protect Luffy's dream after Luffy defended Zoro's. And thus officially now joining Luffy with a promise. In the anime, its more like fell into place for both of them, and Zoro said :- If you ever came between my dream, you will have to cut your belly off, that is, commit seppuku.

yes if Arlong ate Luffy he would get the gom gom powers. He would also lose his ability to swim. So what he was a bout to do was incredibly stupid and Nami basically saved his life
Since you started the anime , i'll set your expectations of this scene .. its a MANGA Scene .. but they changed it in anime because it was """Too Brutal"" .. manga panel shows him destroying his leg with the rock thus makes the anime changed the scene
I think the thing with Coby is that his dream was to be a marine, and he _is_ a marine. He already achieved that dream and he's not at the place where he's going for another dream or anything. So he ends up not really working towards anything and just... being there. And his personality is basically summed up by "a bit of a wimp". So he's not working towards anythign and his personality isn't exactly impressive and a lot of the habits he acquired while captured by Alvida (listening at doors might be a very good idea to make sure you're at the right place at the right time to not be punished or dragged into something you don't want to) are not something we would consider honest or good, normally. You notice how when he does try to do something, it kinda back fires? So the story also reinforces that he shouldn't stand up for himself at this point.. Yeah, it ends up being a bit of a mish-mash of not really likeable character traits and parts where you go "ugh".
He's not supposed to get that much screen time this early on. And he didn't really evolve until much later in the story.

I also don't think Coby is very interesting in most of the LA and I know myself well enough to know that it's because of his insecurity. I can accept it in real people but in fiction, it annoys me. Yes, he's clearly trying to _be_ a good marine, but he hasn't yet figured out _what that is_ so he's insecure in almost everything he does up to the entrance to Cocoyashi, where he finally realises for himself that what they're doing is wrong and they shouldn't be hunting down a pirate that has don't no actual damage instead of someone who literally just razed a village to the ground.

Live Action Adaptation get the emotional feels. BUT Anime will make people cry.
The anime censored Sanji’s backstory though. Japan broadcasting was very much against depicting self harm when the series was in its early episodes. Same way Luffy scarring himself was omitted from the anime.

There are things in the story that hint that this possible but it's also possible that there was a simpler solution to those clues that doesn't involve cannibalism working as a method of acquiring a fruit. So we don't know but it's not entirely impossible. You'll have to make your own mind when reading/watching it!
actually we know for a fact that he would gain the devil fruit power if he did eat luffy. we all know about a certain emperor who got their devil fruit power this way. 😆

Big Mom ate mother caramel, thus killing her, the fruit then reincarnated in a close fruit on the table and then Big Mom ate that too.
It's also possible that she got the powers by eating her mother but there's no proof of it so we simply don't know.

When the person with ability from a devil fruit die, the same devil fruit born somewhere in the world. About the devil fruit there is only one for each kind aviable. The only known exeption is black beard, that after killing white beard took directly the power of white beard demon fruit whitout that the fuit reborn. But it's a mistery in a mistery bc black beard already have a devil fruit power in that moment and should be impossible for him having 2 powers at the same time.
