Definitely subscribing. Reminds me of that very excellent channel “My First Boat”, it is in Germany and one boat/ship/yacht/vessel (😁) soon turns into a multitude. Your yacht is such a beautiful shape, such excellent lines makes for a brilliant and worthwhile project. Subscribed.
You've come a long way already, and your beautiful boat is looking better every time. I can't wait to see the final result. Bonne chance and all success!
If you want to clean small parts from corrosion you can put them in a bucket with fosfor acid over night. I have done that many times and the result is very good. Nice to see how your work is moving forvard.
@@BoatProjectY Just flush dem in water and dry with a rag or paper. Then you can paint or what you like to do. Be careful with your eyes and skin while working with it.
Any acid works well on rust, even vinegar is effective. Proprietary rust converters such as the one you used is the best though as it leaves that converted surface suitable for painting. I think angle grinders with specific discs/brushes for rust are the best for rust removal. Needle guns seem used mainly for knocking off the scale after welding. Will you get the yacht out onto the hard for a hull check & repair?
AH @sirAdamMeek I'm so pleased to find somebody else who does not think I'm crazy for going full electric. I have no idea how I'll pay for the conversion, but I learned to always aim high. and I believe it would be fantastic to propel this beauty forward on electric propulsion.
@@BoatProjectYbrilliant idea. All electric is the way of the future. Sailing Into Freedom channel is building an aluminium cat for the Elcano Challenge which means a circumnavigation with NO fossil fuel. With the massively improving efficiency of solar panels, solar controllers/chargers and battery technology I can see this as a great step forward that may not have been easily achieved even 5 years ago.
Do you mean a hybride? There is a no way to produce enough electricity with solar cells for a power cruising boat. Sailing boat, yes. For auxiliary power.
You are making sound and steady progress, although it may not quite feel like that. I hope you can recruit an enthusiast to help revive the propulsion and auxiliary machinery. The team at Sailing Coney (on You Tube too)managed to recruit a handy Brit and he worked wonders for them.😀👍
Heihei! Nice work so far, congrats! I‘ve a question regarding the two engines: what would you put inside instead? We have the same engine on our dutch steel vessel - 30 years old, 7000h on it - and in all that time, we never had ANY issue. You wouldn‘t find something as robust as those engines. So may rethink your decision😃 best regards
Yes, thanks for your reply. I read that these are amazing engines, and I hope I can make somebody happy with them. I’ve set my mind on an electric propulsion. And as a result I’m separating from these beasts of an engine
You would have to find a place for the upcoming winter on the shore, pull it out of the water and make the bottom properly ... The deck floor is covered, because it will also have to be seriously processed, what you have now need serious work ...
Last comment I promise…. For now at least. Don’t feel overwhelmed by tinkering with diesel motors, like all internal combustion engines they simply work by logic. You can dismantle them using logic. They have only 3 necessary elements, air, fuel and electricity. Add some lubricants and there’s just the logic as to which is not working if the motor won’t go.
@@BoatProjectY i have a yacht aswell,, and every small job you have to find out how to do it right, and what materials to use... my god you have 1001 jobs! But when its finished you have a great spacious Yacht
hello, I was quiet fortunate to cross this boat on my daily cycling route. not far from my home. it took me a full year of negotiating though before we settled on the buy...
I hope somebody can tell me. I heard it has been in Barcelona for a while, serving as a champagne drinking platform , and cruising around in the Mediterranean.
you might want to hang on to the generator if you are going all electric. and you should be using it now. those diesel gen set don't use much fuel. 😎💚💙👍👍🍺🍺🍻
If you use a diesel generator then you are not going fossil fuel free. You then travel down the rabbit hole of hybrid drives which can be an expensive proposition. Green hydrogen (which is not a fossil fuel) generator maybe?
Cheers.
Your denunciation of electric motors is unfounded. There are superb electric outboards in high kilowatts and inboard motors the same. Supplying enough sunlight or a green hydrogen generator could be the problem. They said the same thing about electric cars and look where they are now. The dinosaurs were popular for a while but they did go extinct and so will ICEs.
De l'aide financière j'en veut bien moi aussi...Antigua est à l’arrêt pour minimum 2 ans les finances sont à marée basse et avec un fort coefficient.. Bon courage à toi c’est un beau projet .
I think you should rethink the idea of changing the engines. Study them first! They might be better than new ones. They are basically not more complicated than any other diesel engines.
@@BoatProjectY I understand that it is huge, and a huge project. I commend you for your work. But don't embellish on what it is, due to the mere size of the boat. Proper terminology negates confusion.
Your definitions of length to differentiate between ships and boats is bogus. Did you make that up? I think we could call it a yacht. “As a general term, the word yacht can refer to any watercraft that isn’t intended to be used to make money, which includes anything from racing sailboats to billionaires’ floating ultra-luxury mansions.”
