If someone was going to use this 4-5 hours per day, you have the initial cost of the mower plus you will need 2 sets of additional batteries ($900 for each set of 3). That puts you in the 5k range. You can buy a 48" walk behind for that. Nice video, thanks for taking the time.
I’m currently demoing the exmark commercial 30” version of this toro. Transporting it suck needing to push it since you can’t use the self propelled unless the blades are on, that’s a stupid design and quite honestly the cut quality sucks, clogs very easily and leaves stragglers everywhere, I have a gas toro timemaster the residential model and it performs way better than the exmark 30” battery one, needs more battery power in my opinion, I also used it in max blade speed the whole time
To eliminate belts you would have to add more motors (higher cost). Then you would have to offset the blades so they don't hit each other. Other battery mowers with this offset design is have reviews that mention mohawking or windrowing issues. To engage the self propel feature without the blades running you would need either another separate electric motor to eliminate the transmission being belt driven off the single motor shaft (higher cost & often jerky starts and fixed speeds) or you would need a blade brake clutch (more pulleys & belts,) which is the #1 mechanical problem with the gas Timemasters & Turfmasters (Turfmasters have a slightly better design though). To do the things you are asking the mower cost would go up another $500 or more because it would have to be totally redesigned. Toro appears to be trying to use a fairly well proven design and just electrify it. Even if it has some shortcomings, it should still cut fairly well. You just have to deal with battery life/runtime and a bit of maintenance. (and HIGH COST!!!)
As a commercial lawn guy for 19 years I was considering buying multiple of these mowers, But not now if I’m going electric, I want simplify everything not run a belt system….. Also, if you’re spending that kind of money and you have a flimsy battery cover big turn off
They are really getting souped up, aren't they? I remember my grandpa using the old fashioned reel type mower. But then, my grandparents had a very small lawn. As a professional, you would need something like that. Good thing you're strong. That's a heavy beast.
ive seen other reviews about the motor having to be engaged to move it. but thats not a dealbreaker to me. i would prefer a 3 piece charging bar to simultaneously charge the batteries at once or allow them to remain in the mower and charge from it at once just so you dont have to cycle them in a 3.5 hour period to make sure theyre all fully charged when not in operation. other than that if electricity is still lower than gas id say as long as it outlasts the gas lifespan its worth it.
Looks like a great product Fill - pity the flimsy battery cover is atrocious, that's gonna crack over time. The top battery compartment water sealed ? Otherwise build quality looks excellent and the ability to 'add' batteries is excellent. It does seem to be a gas mower _trying to be_ a battery mower. I agree, should be a simple design/build. Great review as usual bud, start well :)
CdA's best. A most interesting subject. Loking forward to watching this machine run through some serious grass. Yeah the cover does suck. That lock seems funky. Blades matter. Should cut well on narrow jobs.
I wonder which side of that Crappy plastic cover will break first? The latch side or the Hinge side! For 3k that is a huge pass for me! Love your Video's! I tend to Binge watch at times!
I think it’s cool that you got a new garage I didn’t know that you had moved but it looks pretty neat. I think I’d be need to know about the space you have, and maybe go through a toolbox and review as well.
New storage place or is it new house with nice garage?????, good review I like how you say on all your reviews "if it were you"you'd do this and that nice !!!
Great man awesome so happy for you I can remember a few vids ago you mentioned that you bought a bew house yes, well all the beat for you and the Mrs love you content God Bless
The belts / pulleys in there like the gas 30 is a pretty serious design flaw imo. I agree it should have some sort of electric direct drive spindle but im sure the prob is these blades on these mowers are timed vs blades on a zero turn or a 21” aren’t. The self propel not being able to be activated without the blades is a huge issue as well; I have the echo 56v 21” batt mower and it has self propel that can be turned out without the blades but only because the self propel is just a little electric motor under there not a belt driven gear case like this one.
You should invest in multiple chargers.I have the Toro 60 v Recycler,it does work well, but those batts take a long time to recharge.Depending on how depleted the battery is,it could take 1 1/2 to 1 hour and 45 minutes to recharge a 7.5 amp hour unit. Those are 10 amp hour batts, that would take a great deal longer. As much as I like not having to buy gas or worry about whether the machine is going to start,it’s an expensive set up to buy into.Just my two cents worth.
I like to use a striper on my gas time master. I wonder if the transmission on this electric version is stout enough to handle the extra weight of a heavy striper roller, over the long haul?
I think direct drive electric motors in mowers don't last long. The shock from objects hurt them. The belts will provide some shock absorbency. Cub cadet electric rider had motor problems.
So what do you think about it being used? Have you found that it cuts decent? Does it have a tendency to bog down? How long do you typically get out of a battery?
Great video. The only reason to get this machine would be if Toro offered a significant trade in value on my existing gas powered unit. This would make for a decent “bridge unit” to a new generation that I am sure will come in the future but offers little value for someone that owns a gas powered equivalent.
I just don't know what Toro was thinking not allowing you to transport the mower without killing the blades. Don't even get me started on the crazy expensive batteries. Unfortunately, they are trying to push everyone to battery powered lawn equipment by making the gas powered options super expensive. Just ridiculous!
El mejor, siempre digo, eres completo, tu inviertes en herramientas para que tú trabajo sea súper Nice, y hagan mas fácil tu trabajo. Número 1 en todo para mí.😊😍
not just no... $3k? .. thats a hell no .. wow thats insane .. you know I know that machine cuts some thick grass but at $3k you're getting into the low end zero turns at that price.. You can get a Yard Machines 42 $2600 or Troy Bilt 46" $3100 zero turns... I don't care what the push mower is I am not paying over $500 for it.. just too much.. thats a lot of yards to cut to pay it off. yeah thats like 50-70 yards to pay that off. I mean I guess but .. not me
I waited for it, then to find out that it was $4500 with 3 10ah batteries, so I needed to spend 15k for two HDX Revolutions with extra batteries. So, I just said give me two HDX Kohler Gassers. The reason why they used the belt system is because of the timed blades, greenworks chose to do the staggered blades like the scag 30’s. The other thing I don’t like about the HDX 30 Revolution is the fact that the blade runs in transport. Say that mower was much lesser in cost, I still would not buy it solely for that reason.
The plastic battery cover is flimsy.I can't imagine the cost of that plastic cover if it needs to be replaced. Older people like me would probably look at self propelled model. Cost out of my range living on a fixed income. I'm sure if the make a self propelled model it would cost much more.
well because common sense tells us its a timed blades so running electric spindles is a no go, a d for the drive with out blades engaged is because it zone start not bbc
These products make more sense once you commit to the platform. If he gets a Toro Power Propel unit, then those 10 ah batteries will pay for them selves in time saved.

48 inch walk behind or ride on?
Which still isnt battery. The idea here is the low noise, no fuel costs, and (except this case) no belts

I agree with you regarding the electronic spindles. We need less maintenance.
probably down to cost

Toro's half assed attitude.
@@DallasBurgher The timed blades are the problem. Theyre not going to un-time the blades and w/o a cogged belt there is no way to assure the timing.

I would like to see caster wheels on this mower, I find it hard to turn

i really wish there was a battery swap-ability in the US. I have 5 different battery systems going on at my house.
Who’s fault is that?

Would be good for mowing tall lawns
My gas turfmaster parking brake, locks up both back wheels
For $3000 I’ll hire someone

To each his own

This part right here on the blades. All it takes is for one electric spindle to be weaker than the next and now you have clattering blades.
WTH? Do you have a new garage?
I appreciate your honest reviews. What I would like to see is how companies are addressing the female user/consumer.
I agree. I am 73 and110 lbs. Have 2 acres and hills. Mower weighs 197 lbs. Hope One never has to push it due to a malfunction.

To me it seems like Toro is always on the verge of producing an excellent product but just can't pull it off because of ineptitude.
That’s the problem with battery operated stuff their over priced
Expensive 😎👍🇺🇸

Is that the one Home Depot has for $1,100. Dollars? It’s gas and electric
To expensive and and it's a toro time waster
Same belt system 👎👎
