  • As part of needing to clean the paint and minor rust off of the jointer, I finally realized that I need to look into a die grinder. I had looked into that during the last drill press restore project, and now I looked again and finally got one. I had thought about an air die grinder, but since that would require even more tool/setup fun, and I already had a number of m12 tools, I went with the milwaukee m12 die grinder. I found a deal on homedepot for columbus day that got me the die grinder, two high output batteries and another charger for around the same price as the tool itself. So always check the deals.
I also mistakenly decided to get this starter pack of roloc disks as these nylon style with grit on them supposedly had good reviews....yeah this one sucked though. So I do NOT recommend this pack:

See the video for details on why it sucks. It had potential...and some of the 20 pack of disks may be usable or at least can be possibly trimmed to use/use in lower speed drill applications vs the die grinder..but time will tell on that.
I do like these, at least one out of each multi-pack was nicely balanced and ran quiet in the tool before adding the roloc pad:

I have not used either long term, but at least one out of each of the packs was balanced...which is more than the pack I do not recommend.
I also realized that there is an orientation that may or may not help balance the roloc disks themselves...also hopefully somewhat better described in the video. This can hopefully save wear and tear on the tool by trying a different orientation for the disk installation to see if that balances it.
So far I am impressed with the die grinder and hope it will make it much easier to finish up the interior cleanup for the jointer parts.
