- In this video, I show you my top three carries when it comes to babywearing newborns on my back. Using a baby wrap can feel complicated, especially when you attempt babywearing on your back, this is made scarier when you think about trying to safely wrap your baby onto your back. I hope that this video can give you a little comfort and some help if this is something that you want to do.
Carries: Ruck, Russian Jordan’s back carry, reinforced double hammock
Please note that you should only be trying this if you are an experienced wrapped and/or you have someone there to help spot you. I recommend trying this over a soft surface such as a bed until you feel confident.
All wraps shown are handwoven by Robbins Nest Weaving.

This is my favorite babywearing video I’ve ever seen 🤣 With you baby talking to her, her trying to eat your ear 😅 So cute, lol! I subscribed just because of it!
Girl as an African I learned a lot today. I am going to try these cute ways of wrapping my newborn
Same here ! ❤
The baby eating her ear sent me😂
Omg i just tried this and was skeptical but my baby is nice and secure! P.s. i used a bed sheet 🤣🤣
Thank you so much I haven’t taken my baby wrap since my newborn was born but she’s going through this only mommy stage at 7months and your video was a life saverb😅thank you!!
I’ve watched 10+ videos and not one person has tucked into the pants!!! Genius!!!
I watched this video when I was pregnant, started practicing at two months old, and now at 4 months I can wrap my baby on my back all by myself. Your instructions are very clear, you and your baby are adorable. I've come back to this video many times to watch your technique. The pants trick DOES work to get a deep seat in a ruck! I notice a difference when I don't have him in pants. I haven't attempted the Jordan's back carry yet, but I will do that next and I am sure I'll watch this video more times to learn.
I feel like wearing little babies on your back isn't talked about nearly enough and it honestly makes me so happy to know that this video has been helpful in your babywearing journey! I use these carries almost daily still with my kids. I posted another video that has a couple more carries as well if you wanted to see more (The other video also shows Rosemary over a year older than she was here 😭)
Thank you so much for sharing!! This is the best video I could get her most secure!! Love it! ❤
She is so adorable! You can tell she just CB adores her mama 🥺
Where were you when I had my baby in 2019 and trying to figure this out?? Lol. I gave up and front wrapped but every time I was cleaning the house or doing something my hands where needed I find her head would get in the way especially as she got older. And I would say each and every time, “Man I wish I knew how to back wrap” Definitely saving this for the next one. Thank you mama
Thank you for watching! I think that you will really enjoy this with your next one!
It’s easy to understand why back carrying is the traditional way; it frees up one’s hands and arms to do work like cooking or gardening and actually puts less strain on the back than front carrying.
Thank you soo much I spent an hour trying to do the normal rap with baby on back and the Jordan carry worked. She is now calm and happy and I can go about being a mom of a 6 and 4 year old
Thank you! I am also happy you told me how to get baby out of the wrap too! Thanks a bunch!!!!
I have noticed that people (and I'm guilty of this myself) don't show the getting babies down part nearly enough haha
Thank you for the video! I use my moby wrap and it works just fine. My baby girl enjoys it!
Love that pants tuck trick!
Thank you for this lots of love from South Africa ❤️ BTW its 00:26am mr cranky pants👶🏽 is trying to pull an all nighter😩
I hope that you ended up getting some sleep!
You save my life with this wrap!!! Now I can get some stuff done around the house!!! Thank so much for this video !!!! ❤❤❤
You are so welcome! I'm so happy to help!
I love the ruck leg trick!
What a cute cutie pie she is. Very informative:)
I love the second wrap and I’ll try it tomorrow
I love the third too
This is life changing!
It really is! I remember learning how to wear my first born on my back and having a moment of feeling genuinely overwhelmed by how much I was able to do again since he wanted to be touching me 24/7
CONGRATULATIONS! she's is adorable!!
I like the second one 👍💜
Oh my goodness she is so so adorable 🥰 👀
Great video! Thank you.
This is next level oh my gosh!
Thank you!
So helpful for me dear...thankss a lot
Fantastic video! 😀👍🙏
Thank you!
AWESOME!
Super helpful. I nanny for a little girl and am trying various carries
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video thank you
Great. Thank you
She is so cute!!! I love how she is trying to eat your ear 😂
Oh my gosh I need to get this down! Thanks
I hope you managed to get the hang of it!
Best explanation I've seen of the jordans back carry! Thank you! What wrap did you use for that one? It's beautiful ❤️
I used "Great Egg-spectations" by Robbins Nest Weaving!
She is so cute! Even though she was a bit fussy, her babbling and trying to eat your ear! 😆🥰 So cute!
Thank you! She is pretty adorable!
Thank you so much for this! ✝️🕊️
You are so welcome!
Do you use a stretchy carry or a „stiffer“ one?
What a cute baby!
Hey my dear What kind of sheet or scarf you dan recommend ??
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thank u
This looks awesome!!! But so scary!! Haha
It’s scary at first but you get more confident every time!
Would you say these carries are good for newborns? I’ve worn bigger babies on my back and front lots and lots but I’m really looking to venture into back wearing little babies! My littlest will be 2 months old tomorrow.
Do you know the approximate dimensions on that first wrap shown? Thank you for this video!
30” wide and 4.2m long I believe ☺️
What is the wrap you used for the second carry!? I would love something that long and floppy!
It’s called Great Egg-speciations by Robbins Nest Weaving. It has a peppermint weft and green tea modal warp! It’s 4.2m and a complete ace bandage 😍 It’s been used by all three of my kids and I actually helped weave it while I was 9 months pregnant with my first born ❤️
My baby is 5 months but only 10 lbs. Could I use a stretchy wrap like Solly baby or do I need a woven wrap?
Sorry for the late reply. Stretchy wraps aren't recommended for back carries.
What kind of wrap would you suggest for this
A woven wrap. Handwoven or machine woven would both work perfectly but a stretchy wrap wouldn't work the same or be very safe.
wish I knew about this when my daughter was younger! Looks much easier that carrying in front
It definitely allows you to get things done more easily!
My baby hated being in he Moby wrap in the front. Now she's almost 6 months I hope she likes the back.
I don’t have enough fabric for the pant tuck
In that case you just need to pull the fabric up between you and baby once baby is on your back, I find this easier with help when they are small. I made a UA-cam video for Robbins Nest weaving about different carry’s and if you jump to the double hammock you can see how I created a seat for my daughter without using the pant tuck method.
Which brand is that beautiful almost mermaid like wrap ?
It’s a handwoven by Robbins Nest Weaving called Great Egg-spectations. It’s actually my moms company and her and I wove this wrap together the month that my first child was born ❤️
@@TheDerrys it is so beautiful, do you have a link to purchase? I got a Smitten Mod Stripes size 4 (loom state) (black and gray striped) and I found it so big and intimidating. I’m looking for something smaller
@@assenavkar you can find our shop at www.robbinsnestweaving.com/shop thank you for your interest!
Ummm yeah I can’t figure out how to do this alone. lol! It’s a great video but I just can’t.
My daughter is nearly one and i just cant do it. She wriggles too much, or pulls my hair! I havent done it once yet:(
Can this be done with a boba wrap or would it be too stretchy?
From what I have read, I think you should only do these styles with a woven, non stretchy wrap.
What kind of sling is that? Mine is too linear
It's a handwoven wrap from Robbins Nest Weaving. It's my mom's company and I do most of the weaving myself!!!
Where can I buy these wraps?
Hi Marissa, both of the wraps shown in this video were woven by hand by us over at Robbins Nest Weaving. You can find our shop at www.robbinsnestweaving.com. Thanks for your interest!
I can’t wait to try this. If it works it’s going to save my life 🥹
Can I use a solly wrap?
I don't use stretchy wraps on my back. Did you end up trying it?
We do this in africa all the time. Its very convenient to do things around
I love that!
I'm desperate to wrap my 4 week old as I have a toddler to look after and I find a front carry gets very much in the way. But at this age they're so delicate I don't even know where to start 😢
Awe! Your baby must be about 6 months old now. I hope that you have managed to figure out babywearing. They aren't as delicate as they seem!
What wrap are u using
I used handwoven wraps from Robbins Nest Weaving!
www.robbinsnestweaving.com
My baby carrier isn’t that wide :/
Oh darn! Maybe you could get another?
lmaoo trying this on my sister
Love 7:10 for my 4 monther
This is not working for me. Every time I go to pull it tight after I get him on my back it just comes out of his pants 😩
Try putting a large amount in him pants width wise. That way when you tighten and some pulls out there will still be some tucked. Hopefully that helps but if not there are a few other tricks that can help but a lot of it comes down to trying to tighten with the pocket you’ve created if that makes sense. It DEFINITELY gets easier the more times you do it so just keep practicing! ❤️
@@TheDerrys everytime I tuck in his pants his pants just end up sagging and is not on his belly anymore so I guess I need different bottoms
Next tutorial cradle cross carry position, thanks
Where's the written instructions!? I'm furious at how no video ever explains back carry with out a ton of talking or ad interruption, all I get is a crying baby and 100 failed attempts. Also I always get the SAME SAME SAME WOMEN to explain this ever time I steady for how to! I desperately need to back carry!
I know, back carries can be hard. My mom told me that she practiced every day for an entire month with my little brother, before she was ever successful with a back carry. Hang in there, one day it will work for you! Just be safe when practicing.
That’s obviously not a newborn bby, idk why ppl don’t put accurate descriptions
She discusses that in the video. If you would watch it. :)
Seriously what do you do when she shits thru it lol that's what I'm afraid of 😮
He is not a new Born
The baby's head has no support in any of the three suggestions.
Back carries are for infants that can support their heads. The instructions on any wrap will also say to allow the head room to move to avoid suffocation risk
@@growininthagarden In that case this baby was most likely too young.
@@CindyBarg that depends more on development and comfort levels. My 3 month old can hold up his head, but my friends 6 month old cannot.
There's something to be said about nature there as well.
I'm just thankful for the detailed tutorial
I would never put my baby om my back. You never know what can happen and you don't see it. Only cold people do this
Your baby is snug and tight against you and you can feel their breath on your neck and hear them breathing. You can feel every wiggle and sigh. Being firmly attached to your baby is much better for mom and baby than putting them down away from you.
Humans have been back carrying for thousands and thousands of years. It's very natural and safe. Just because not as many people in the West do it this way does not make it "cold". It's good to have your baby with you as much as possible and this is a great way to do it.
