WRAP-BABY WEARING ON THE BACK (SEE DETAILS)

  • UPDATE:
    I have gotten several comments that stretchy wraps are NOT deemed safe for back carrying. Instead, use a non-stretchy fabric! I recommend that you do your research! This works for me but that is my decision.
    Also... leave babies legs out and wrap around the babies booty.

    Heyy Everyone!!!
    Baby wearing has seriously changed my life and the way that I do things. As my babies got older I could no longer hold them comfortably on the front or side and get things done so when they got big enough I started wrapping them on my back. In this tutorial I show you the process of stabilizing baby on your back safely. I also constantly go in the mirror to check on them ha ha.
    I am using the Boba wrap in this video. It is super soft and stretchy fabric. (You are suppose to use a non-stretchy fabric). Make sure you pull it tight so that baby is more stabilized. Not so tight that it’s uncomfortable, but to where it’s secure
    Enjoy the video and thanks for watching :)

    Where to purchase a wrap:
    - Target
    - Amazon
    - LetGo app
    - VarageSale app
    - OfferUp app
    - Facebook
    I purchased my wrap 2nd hand from one of these apps. I also have used a towel before and it worked great! Chunky, but it worked!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’ve wanted to wear my son on my back like I’ve seen the women in some countries in Africa do. Wearing him forward facing kills my back and I can never get anything done. I have a boba and a moby and was dreading having to buy something else to wear him on my back. You’ve saved my pocketbook and my sanity!

    What a great idea! This is exactly how they wrap babies in my husband's country (Uganda) with kitenge. I never thought it could be done with a stretchy wrap. Thanks for sharing with the world. My life is about to become easier!

    Back carrying in a stretchy wrap can be dangerous! Baby can fall out as the fabric doesn’t stay taught! Please only use woven wraps and structured carriers (make sure your carrier is suitable for back carrying though) for earring baby on your back! Stretchy wraps are only safe for front carrying as then you have your arms to catch baby if the fabric slips down or if baby leans to much out. I’m not trying to offend anyone with my comment, just want to warn about potential danger ⚠️ woven wraps cost generally more than stretchy wraps, but they can be bought really affordable second hand so it doesn’t have to be expensive 💕 (a woven wrap that’s well broken into is also easier to work with and more comfortable than a brand new one)

      Carrying babies on your baby by wrapping them in a fabric comes from ancient times. We practice that in Africa. I should know I am Nigerian. The stretchy fabric is ok as long as it’s tight enough to secure the baby. No judgement for your concerns, but it’s ok. Baby must be secure and trust me, with the way she wrapped it, that baby is not going anywhere☺️

    Your daughter is an Angel 🙈 mine is terrible she won’t stay still, she loves the sling but I always front carry and she is 9 months and 9 kg so is far too much for front carrying. I have a back pack but i came camping and I forgot it so ill be trying this today and see if she stays still or Dad will have to help here 😂. Thanks you so much, i know the strechy slings are not made for back carry but i will feel if the baby slips out. Thanks so much from Ireland!

    That baby is the cutest baby Ive seen in a long time. Staring at the camera with those beautiful bright eyes. Its a shame I didnt have this video when my kids were babies, I had a wrap and I couldnt figure out how to do it safely so I ended up giving it away and never used it, sure wouldve saved me some time and stress having my baby on my back all cozy and safe.

    Hi there! I’m a CBWS certified babywearing educator with 14 years experience! I just wanted to let you know that stretchy wraps-Boba, Solly, etc-are NOT intended for back carries of any kind. They’re not meant to carry babies on the back due to the nature of the fabric and it’s inability to stay taught at the rails. Woven wraps are what we use for back carries, in addition to soft-structured carriers and other styles. But stretchy wraps are a huge no-no for back carries of any kind. It’s dangerous and can lead to serious injury; babies/toddlers can fall out of a stretchy wrap in a back carry. Smaller babies can also suffocate.

    Parents, please do not back carry with a stretchy wrap. Unless it is a hybrid wrap, stretchy wraps are not made for back carrying. Notice how far the baby dropped by the time she finished. The method used is also not the correct way to use even a woven wrap. For comfort and safety, please only follow methods demonstrated by Certified Babywearing Consultants.

    similar culture with that in my country. it seems like wearing baby on the back with a wrap, cloth or scarf or something though, mothers used to use a flexible belt or flat rope here in japan. recently many mothers hate a cross shape in front side like in 4:16. however, the workers still use the baby-on the back method in most of nurseries and baby-sitting places.

  • @WrapsslingsandHarmony

    This is not safe for wearing. Please please don't recommend this to others. The stretchy fabric isn't made for back carrying it is very easy for them to flip all the way out. The Wrapsody baby carrier is a woven wrap with some stretch and can be used for front and back carries. That is a safer option. I am glad to see more Black Babywearers, but I also want you and others to be safe.

      Looks pretty secure to me. Certainly you would feel your baby slipping down your back and could sit down to readjust. No mama is going to let their baby just fall on the ground.

    • @jandanman
      @jandanman 10 місяців тому

      I don't think baby can flip out using this method. They can certainly slip out of the stretchy wrap using the usual method of doing the x on the fabric first then covering their bottoms, but this lady inverted it and has triple security with the fabric flat and under baby's bottom first, then the x over baby back and then the fabric holds baby's bottom and feet securely last. Looks like a good recommendation to me!

    • @angelperrin8113
      @angelperrin8113 3 роки тому +3

      Yes, It is deemed "unsafe" in the baby wearing community because the kid can potentially get out. I use it and it works just fine and I am now on my 3rd baby with success. I believe people should just do their research and make an educated decision based off of their own personal comfort level, that way one can take responsibility for your choice. Happy Baby Wearing :)

      In front you can monitor and see if baby goes into a funny position or anything is off and you can also more easily monitor their breathing.
      Back carries need to be done with extremely supportive material and correct method as they’re inherently more risky because baby is harder to monitor and your arms cannot easily fix an issue or catch a baby that needs caught.
