It’s an important service, helping clients give their loved ones a dignified send-off, but running a funeral business isn’t easy. And that’s especially true in times of near-continuous power cuts. The country’s energy crisis is impacting the funeral sector in multiple ways, notably its ability to store the bodies of the departed at the required temperature. As a result, mortuaries are urging the bereaved to bury their loved ones within days, while those able to afford generators are buckling under the financial pressure of keeping them running. Unsurprisingly, many funeral homes have had to close. In a country where it often takes weeks for some cultural burial rites to be performed, what, if anything, can be done?

It blows my mind that the law says a funeral home must have a backup genny, but the hospitals are ok to go without one!
Well done ANC!
I am so saddened by this. Where is our dignity? Where? This is shocking.
My sister also passed on. Tuesday 18th of March. They never gave her meds during the strike nor food or even something to eat.
For 3 days!
enough is enough people need to be held accountable.
This is heartbreaking 💔
Wow. I really Learnt alot.
No backup generator in a hospital? Lolol. South Africa? It's only a matter of time but one thing is evident. This country is not headed for good days
Solar without batteries makes lots of sense if there is a generator - it will significantly reduce the fuel required... (To completely get rid of the generator, batteries is needed and that significantly increase the price)
Claire Mawisa oh Claire 😍🤩🥰😘
Funeral parlours now have to fork out extra millions for diesel to run generators to keep bodies cool...
😢😢 Loadshedding
I've never seen comments on this channel
I didn't know that this loadshedding is a business to some evil ppl
Ministers get free generators... 🤷🏾♂️
This is sad, scary and disappointing to say the least. South Africa is horror movie
Ja, but people keep voting for the ANC...
Embalming could preserve the body without power.
Sue the hospital
Unbelievable
Eh! 😳
vote Zuma back in power and all your problems will be solved
