I think for the contacts alone enrolling in a course seems like a great idea.

Hey Kayleigh! I would love to know a good way to get into e commerce retouching. I was also recently contacted about retouching for a local lifestyle magazine we have in my city and I’m just now sure how to figure out HOW TO price and how MUCH. If anyone could help me I would really really appreciate it!

I would add one thing to your answer about beginner lenses if I can (from my experience, this is very important) - since I guess most people start with a crop frame camera, it would be good to get a lense with a wider aperture, especially if they're getting a zoom lens. I had a zoom lens with a min. 3.5 aperture and the only time I could actually shoot was mid-day bcs that was the only time when there was enough light to enter my crop frame camera (as crop frame changes not only the focal length of a lens, but also the aperture, so 3.5 was actually 5.sth on my camera). Especially if I was shooting portraits, and went to anything above 50mm, because the minimum aperture would get higher the more I zoomed in, thus making even less light enter the camera. Only when I got a lens with a lower minimum aperture did my photos get better because I actually had the flexibility to shoot at any time of day, and get light that better suited my photos.

One of the best things you can do for product photography is shooting plates
