    Cool video. Watching videos learning about light jets and different manufacturer pluses and minuses.
    I'm the son of a Naval pilot, commercial pilot, and private pilot.
    My dad flew C-130s in Antarctica with snow skids and jato jets. Flew P-3 Orion sub hunters. Retired 37 years at United as a B777 captain and line check airman. Owns a C172 we've flown from Chicago to Austin and Daytona Beach.
    I guess some kids have fond memories of camping with their dad. Mine was being on a United flight and the Captain, my dad, reminding my little brother to sit in his seat over the intercom. Or sitting in a C-130 in a military hangar and having my dad turn the electrical on so the radar screen comes to life for a little kid. And always going to Osh Kosh. But love Chicago A&W show the best.
    My younger brother also later became an F-15E WISO so got to sit in the cockpit and hang out with fighter pilots a few times and met a general and checked out the Blue Angels hangar at Pensacola, NAS.

    The Phenom 300 is just an awesome modern good looking powerful plane - I loved to fly her when I was in a different company.
    But I am wondering about the climb procedures/technic.
    Normally I am used to reduce the climb rate when you’re approaching your preset Alt/FL to avoid a possible TCAS event, but in the Video he used to climb from FL150 to FL160 with FLC with a Rate of 2500ft/min instead of VS 1000, any reason or do you have just a different way to deal with in the States?
    Anyway nicely done and keep doing your great work! :)

      @FlyingwithRich  Рік тому

      I think your technique is better for climbs that are only a few thousand feet or less. Modern AP’s do a good job of anticipating level off and initiating a level off early. Thanks for watching!

    Another great Video Rich . Most of my experience is in Jets snd Jon is very professional.. The 300 appears to do it all . My background is Lear 45 and CL
    604 . As I mentioned in your Columbia 400 video , love your approach to aviation. We are visiting with a Columbia 400 owner here at Apa on Thursday.
    Thanks for this great stuff

    One option that would definately great in single pilot environment (any and including the Phenom) is AUTOTHROTTLES. The G3000 suite has AUTOTHROTTLE on the DAHER TBM940 and it therefore has provisions for A/T implementation. It would be such a great advantage to have A/T in this plane.

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  4 роки тому

      Agree. I have flown another airplane with auto throttles - it’s very nice and as you say, excellent for single pilot ops. I’m sure it’s coming for the 300. Thanks for watching and the comment.

      @@FlyingwithRich I believe they are made available to HAWKER 800-900XP series that are equipped with the COLLINS PROLINE 21 cockpit. Great platform as well. Longer range than the Phenom, but only goes to FL410 and I believe lower in cruise Mach. Especially comparing to the PHENOM 300E 2020 model with the -E1 version of the Pratt Engines. I have a talk with the product manager of EMBRAER on wednesday as I made several proposals for further upgrades, amongst them AUTOTHROTTLES, AUTOBRAKE and a speedbrake lever with detents, INBOARD Ground Spoilers AND 3.550lbs thrust FJ-44-4AP engines instead of Pratts.

    I heard from an engineer that works on Phenom 300/100 that the newer Phenoms built in Melbourne, FL are not built as well/have design flaws specifically with the tail section. Just curious to know if you've heard of those and any other common faults with this type that you could share? cheers

    Do the 100 and 300 have different braking systems? Because I heard that the 100's brakes are everything but not great.

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  4 роки тому

      Early 100s had brake issues for sure - I think they worked the problems out on the 100s. I was aware of limited issues on the 300s but our experience has been great. It’s a true brake-by-wire system so takes some getting used to.

    Incorrect Rich, the PC24 is currently the largest single pilot jet available. Much more advanced too. There's nothing wrong with the Phenom 300E (I'm actually a big fan!), but let's give credit where credit is due. The PC24 is a very good value proposition in current market conditions and can't be ignored. As passionate as I've been about the Phenom 300E, the PC24 has quietly (and quickly) won my heart.. however, it's all very subjective and depends on your mission. Enjoy flying those amazing jets, Rich!! Love your channel and watch your videos with great interest.

    Love that aircraft! Few planes can ever safely reach above a “real” _thunderstorm_,. Common severe supercells can anvil out beyond 45, 000’ and routinely incorporate incredibly destructive wind forces and large hail :-( but am not telling you pilots anything you aren’t aware of from the beginning of training.

      You are NERVER save above a real CB and always stay away at least 10 to 25NM upwind off the tops of a CB.
      It is nice to get out of the weather to visually avoid CBs, but never overfly them!! Sometimes there is no chance to get to the tops, because the closer you fly to the Equator and especially in the ITCZ, CBs easily reach up to 60.000+ feet.
