Fabulous tutorials - way better than the manual. In fact KORG should employ you to make them :) I'll buy you multiple coffees once I have finished, promise!
I've had mine almost 2 years and I've barely scratched the surface. Once cool thing is that each layer has its own midi channel. I'm always inspired when I play it. Your vid helped me clear up a lot thanks! Subd
Just want to thank you for these tutorials. This is the best and most comprehensive explanation of the Wavestate (both videos) that I’ve seen yet. Well done!
XNB You are a fantastic teacher of the wavestate routines, and (although i have been a teacher professionally by some time),i truly admire your teaching style. You present us all the different workarounds with knobs, buttons, secret moves or tricks, and by the same time you can stay focus and follow your very well prepared infos to us with a non-boring,not even academic,or clinic but with a friendly and calm way,to make all these infos easilly accepted ,and nice presented.Gongrats!!! I dont have a ws yet but ,maybe sometime in the future i will Thanks again
Thanks !!! I've been teaching this and SW engineering for quite some time now. So I've got a lot of practice, teaching is something you learn with practice. Every time I create a video I plan it like it was a course. Thank for the comment, it really makes my day better.
Hi. I was wondering if you could help me with something. At the 18:00 mark it shows the layer programs and the performance hold option. Mine is not showing an option for performance hold. Do you have an idea of what can be going wrong?
Hi XNB, Thank You so much for your tutorials on the Wavestate. I have just recently bought one and your tutorials are excellent and really well explained. I now feel a lot more confident using this synth, and I am sure a lot of other owners will feel the same after watching your awesome guides. Many thanks and much respect! 👍
These videos are epic. Many of these synths I'll never own, but watching one of these videos is almost as good as getting to play one for a few hours. Nice work.
Man, thanks for this tutorials, best I have ever seen. I wish I had a course like this for the korg kronos. I´m amazed at how clear your explanation is 👋👋👋👋👋
Thanks :) . Love the Kronos, but getting access to every synth is impossible without Korg's support. Everything you see in the channel is mine and paid full price. Of course donations, patreons really help to finance this. Hope some day Korg contact me so I can get access to Gear.
Thank you very much for your tutorial. Very clear und logical. But... I dont understand the relations between - wave lane - wave sequence - program Also a question about the program: When I load a Single Multisample or a Wave Sequence on A, it shows on the layer programm "Init program". Why? Same issue: On my presets, it shows on Layer programs on one performance on A "Organ1, but on Single Multisample i shows "Syn: White Pad". Why it shows not the same? And more difficult: If I change the program, than the multisample change. If I come back to the program "Organ1", now than it plays "Organ1". Thank you!
This video is incredibly helpful! You do a great job explaining things, from one teacher to another. Re: the mod/performance mod knobs, is it accurate to say that basically, the mod knobs give you nine mod wheels instead of just one? They seem to serve the exact same purpose.
Hi extremely grateful to you for these 2 tutorials if possible could you please cover using samples the librarian all those little extra’s the Wavestate is capable of thanks again
I have trouble triggering wave sequences using external clock n external MIDI. So trying to get the DAW to play the wavestate via MIDI and audio out has issues. Even setting the clock internally has issues. Does anyone have advice for this? So sending different MIDI info for different layers can work but it can just not play sections n other stuff in my experience.
Fantastic Contribution!. Tremendous appreciation for all your hard work and above all your sharing. I absolutely Love this Synth, it does everything. However, I felt it impossible to learn until your video. Coffee Coming up Sir. Question is : How long did it take you to get an understanding of it's operation? Did you just read the menu and experiment?? I don't think I could have done that. Sincerely , Mark
Thanks man. I am a manuals guy, I can take manuals and documentation. I am a SW developer too, so it comes with the job. It was fairly simple because I have experience. But no, it is not an easy synth to learn, it takes time to learn it and get comfortable with it. So glad it helped, it was really hard to organize the guide. So far, they most challenging synth I had to explain, because it can do so much.
Very informative and interesting video. I would like to know if you had made one for the sequencer and arpeggiator part.(And where can i find it) Thank you so much for sharing.
Great Tutorial ,thanks for that! Do you know a way to quantize sample trigger in wavestate? For example... I have import a user Multisample to the wavestate with different 1 bars loops spreaded on different keys with all the same BPM. Now I wanted to trigger them monophonic in sync. It would be easier if I could realize a kind of Key Trigger Quantisation.
Thank you for this video - I just got a Wavestate, and I've been digging through tutorials that go about explaining things in such a roundabout way for what I bought the synth to do (it seems like it has a lot of groovebox features, but I don't really have any interest in doing that with it - I just bought it because I've been jonesing for a decent hardware vector synth after getting my hands on - and selling - a VS Pro mini). After watching your video, I was finally able to make my first patch on the thing! I'm stoked, because I was starting to feel daunted enough that I was considering selling or returning it!
@XNBeatsMusic - Interestingly enough, I see you have Minilogue XD tutorials as well! I just bought a Minilogue XD (and returned it because I loved it so much I upgraded to a Prologue). The user oscillators are amazing, but they also drove my interest in wanting an actual vector-based hardware synth, after getting a chance to play around with Tim Shoebridge's Prophet VS oscillator. I have a lot of analog synths that sound better than the Minilogue for analog sounds, but that digital user oscillator makes it really fit a certain niche! It's a really great config - I'm surprised more synths don't have both VCOs and a digital oscillator (I only know of the two Korgs and the Pro 3, which is mono/paraphonic).
I had a power outage and my wavestate was shutdown abruptly. After the power was restored I turned on the unit and now it sounds wacked.. Is there a factory reset or any other way I can get it back to normal. Thank you
This thing is currently $450 at Adorama.... Kinda considering it for the discount, but man I don't know if I have the time to learn a new piece.of hardware right now.

Sorry. Great explanation. But. This machine and also the modwave seem to be the perfect device to dive into and newer get a finished song/ instrumental. Procrastination without end. One use case seems to be , if you restrict yourself, to use the layers as accompaniment while using one as “normal” instrument. Is there a famous hit that was played on the radio (not wavestate, but wavestation)? With the Opsix you’re finished at some point and use it in some musical context. I see the endless possibilities but I wouldn’t know how to use it for myself in a meaningful way.
That’s a problem about you. Your own creative difficulties. This is just a tool to be used. If you can’t finish tracks that’s a you problem not a Wavestate problem. I’ve been using Wavestate since it came out and have never had a problem using it it a finished track.

Mod knobs work on a layer. Performance mod knobs work an a performance level.
That‘s the difference.
Yeah, that's true. But they are still macros, It even says in the manual that the names are just illustrative.
Great video! Did you ever release a video 3 for using your own samples?
