I have Vytex window installed in my home for over 20 years now. No issue with operation, or discoloring. Getting ready to buy new windows for my new home. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review Jeff. Want to share: we just got Vytex's mid range windows installed by the company MWT, based on in Atlanta. Btw, MWT is listed in Jeff's list. We are happy with the window appearance, easy operation and overall performance, especially, now, when it gets colder outside. This is our first time getting new windows, so I cannot compare to something else, but we are really impressed with the overall quality of the windows.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. The guys over at mwt do a terrific job. I'm so glad that you found them helpful. Thanks for using Jeff's List. We appreciate it. Stay warm, my friend.
I feel so lucky to find your review! In your opinion, which one is better worth of money between Provia Endura and Vytex Potomac Series? I am deciding between the two. I'm opting in the "Pocket" installation for my casement windows, so I would like also to know which one has a thinner frame so I don't lose as much glass space. Thanks for your advice!
That's quite the toss-up! They are both really good products. That being the case, the most important thing would be to have the quality of the installation be your tiebreaker. Which of the two companies you're dealing with offers the best installation? That's the one I would go with!
Really appreciate your video!!! Very helpful! We are considering Potomac (top tier) and Fortis (mid tier). Do you feel the differences in product are worth the higher price? Would you really miss/notice the differences once installed? For example .03 vs .04 in air infiltration. Just a little torn....
I tried looking through your videos but couldn't find the answer. We are considering Vytex windows. I noticed that you reviewed all of the exterior features of the windows but not the construction. How do you feel about the interior of the Vytex window frames and sashes containing foam rather than being hollow? Is there a tendency for the foam to mold? Is there a benefit to hollow frames/sashes?
Thank you for watching and for your question. The phone is a plus to any window. I've never heard of anyone experiencing issues with mold or mildew inside of a window frame with foam. It will quiet down the transfer of sound, reduce condensation, and insulate better.
You didn't show the top of the window tilting in. Is only the bottom sash tilt-in? Also, I notice that the half-screen is only removable from the outside. That means you still have to get on a ladder to take the screens out to wash them, which is something you need to do in places like North Carolina, which have "the pollening" in March-April every year. Can you please clarify on this?
Vytex Potomac windows are a double hung window. Both top and bottom tilt in. This being so, the half screens are easily taken out from the inside as they are spring loaded on the sides. The screens also have a memory mesh which minimizes the risk of small tears. Hope this helps!
It's not the line you presented, but I was introduced to a Vytex mid range window in my house by a sales rep earlier this week. Unfortunately he showed the gimmicky sales tactics shown in your video. Sigh. At first glance, the product looked good overall except that the frame looked a little thick in terms of design. What is worrisome is the disappearance of small companies despite their warranties. But I am still considering this product.
Thank you for watching and for your comment. You have to remember that Vytex just makes the product. They truly have no control over the dealers who sell their product in the field. I would consider finding a different dealer who supplies the same product so you can have a second opinion.
I'm an owner and still in the field installing both OKNA and Vytex. I'd give the nod to glass with Vytex as I've always preferred Edgetech Super Spacer to Duralite. The Envirostar has the sculptured metal lift handles which look so much nicer than that of of vinyl rails in my opinion. I like the balances and shoes from the OKNA lines over Vytex. The vinyl extrusion from OKNA has a better designed anti-drift top sash kerf and interlock. The meeting rail area with OKNA and weatherstripping is nicer too, however I give the nod to Vytex on the bottom sash seal to the sill. OKNA's sill dam is stronger. Vytex has nicer extruded aluminum screens and they offer Duo-Tech like locks that eliminate the bottom sash tilt actuators, OKNA doesn't like of offer that system. OKNA doesn't offer any kind of accidental glass breakage warranty either. Both OKNA and Vytex have the best exteriors sash glazing beads in the vinyl industry. Seaway, Kensington, and Soft-Lite flagship vinyl all are real close to these offerings here on the east coast. Outside of that there is a huge drop off.
Have you ever reviewed European windows. They seem to be all the rage now. Triple pain and the tilt and turn are always talked about. Think American window makers will ever make the tilt and turn window?
European windows are very nice and well designed. Most European homes are much older and have smaller windows than you'd find in the USA. Tilt and turn windows cannot be made very large because of the way they operate. You may see some here and there but they don't work as well in American homes.
I don't claim to know everything. I'm just telling you that the brands I looked into limit their sizes until then turns because of the frame material. If you get a wood product or an aluminum product you can go larger than you can with vinyl.

Currently, getting a quote form them at the moment. What type of Vytex did you end up getting?

You can't go wrong with either line. It's like GMC vs Cadillac
Thank you for these reviews!! Be brutal and honest during the reviews! :)
Thank you for watching

I have these Vytex windows and they are the real deal, great windows. Okna windows are very similar.
Thanks for sharing

What were the four performance ratings on this window sticker? I couldn't make them out. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and your question. I did not look at that but I can. Performance numbers vary based on window type and size.

Please do Okna next! :)
I'll try to get a sample. I don't sell that brand.

@@HoustonWindowExperts odd, we had windows that were three times the size of the window you are reviewing.

With a name like Vytex you'd think they're in Texas!
Right??
